You can tell this hotel, shops, and food hall cares about appearances. There’s a lot of substance to the place but it is much smaller than the ads make it out to be. Generally the look and feel of the place is pleasant and hip. But once there for a while some things did disappoint. To start with the good- the blackout blinds were very very good (so necessary in summer- these were the best we experienced and even opened from top and bottom). The blankets were the thickest I’ve experienced in 7 hotels in Iceland. The bench by the window is a nice touch for relaxing somewhere rather than the bed. The amenities are plentiful and easy to pay for and the soap/shampoo/conditioner was high quality. The smart tv is a nice touch as are the free tickets on the bulletin board to the local baths/pool. There are places beside the bed to put your phone to charge and there’s even a USB outlet by the desk. Now, the disappointments. In the room: the pillows were less substantial than the blankets. There was no place to open a large suitcase other than the floor unless you used the nice bench. There was no tissue box provided with tissues. There was nowhere to put unpacked clothing other than 4 or 5 large hooks which I was using for small bags and jackets. Our room faced the street which was very loud when the bar closed at 1am and again at 7am. We had to leave our window open (the room was warm) so we heard everything. The rest: The food hall is great but at 6:30pm on Friday night it was so busy there was barely a seat to be had and lots of families with children were around. That said, the chicken we had from one vendor was excellent. Finally, we couldn’t park next to the hotel because of all the food hall traffic around dinner time, so we had to park at the supermarket lot next door. The staff were kind and friendly and the walk to the Olverk brewery was short. The town is great for taking walks. I want to give this place a 3.5 but I’ll up it to 4 since it was clean and neat.

A great hotel. Rooms are well designed, trendy and practical- we had a family room with a set of bunk beds in a semi- separate area. Great local Icelandic toiletries and plenty of towels in the bathroom and lots of space to hang towels/ coats. The room had a fridge (with free water), usb sockets on the desk, plugs by each side of the bed, a useful sofa/ bench to sit on and a notice board with a map and free tickets to the local pool pinned. There is an indoor lounge and roof terrace for guests to sit and relax.
Downstairs is a food hall / bar with a range of different outlets- fried chicken, Asian wok, burgers, tacos etc but it gets very, very busy.
There is also a cafe, ice cream parlour and gift shop with a nice range of unusual items. Despite the business of the food hall it was quiet and we heard no noise.
Only thing they could improve on would be to have a fan in the room for warm summer evenings, although they were able to loan a small usb fan to us.
Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Parking can be awkward, given the popularity of the food hall.

The hotel is quirky. Really nice. It’s modern with things like a smart TV (ie Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.). There is a supermarket a minute walk away and a Vindubin next to it (you can only buy alcohol in Vindubin shops). There is also an outdoor pool about a two minutes drive away and there are two complimentary entry passes on the noticeboard in the room. The 50m pool looks a bit run down but it’s warm and with a little very warm jacuzzi one, all heated by hot springs. You need to put your shoes on a rack by the desk where you pay and you must shower before leaving the changing room, plus no towels by the pool. I learnt the hard way! I was immediately told to go back and shower and leave my towel in the changing room. The scenery is beautiful and I think this would be a walker’s paradise. Highly recommended!

Great location and easy to find.
The hotel is modern, clean and a great first impression.
Rooms are comfy, blackout blinds and window that can open. Great bathroom, nice decor.
There is a food hall / court which has a great variety. Lovely bar too with comfy sofas and a special roof snug area. There are mini stalls that sell a variety of local products. Really good.
The rooms don’t get cleaned every day, so you have to request this for an additional charge. You have to go to reception for soap or extra toilet rolls. Breakfast is very basic, a yoghurt and one pastry/croissant.
The automatic door closure makes bedroom doors slam, but people didn’t stay out late, so gets quiet after 11pm.
Overall an OK stay.

We stayed here twice in Iceland on the way to Vik in the week and coming back from the black diamond beach on saturday. Both check-ins were awkward, not sure if they had done this before or it's new, but it could be online for smoother check in since you are given a code for the door.
Breakfast should be included for the price, we stayed in a number of hotels in Iceland and in comparison it is boutique and nice but needs to include breakfast. We can recommend the bakery a few minutes walk away, the swiss mocha excellent.
Parking was OK the first night the second on saturday it was difficult finding a spot and the restaurant was very busy on saturday to the point it was out of control. Far too many people in the pop up being rude to other customers, trying to steel tables, hovering if someone was finishing eating or moving closer to get them to move table, bit odd. The ice cream parlour someone was seriously coughing covid style but was not asked to leave. The food was great in the pop up we had fried chicken from one place and pad thai from another.
Don't get the rooftop area it is just fake grass, which is noisy sleeping next to it. The room is really modern and nice, great TV but you need your Netflix login. Free water in the room and a mini bar if you want something else. There was no shop downstairs so don't get why it is labelled on the lift.
The shower curtain was really annoying it stuck to your legs since it was too tiny the shower. Towels are tiny, with hand towels for your hair which is odd. Pillows too soft. Coffee in the room was horrid. Not sure why one night we stayed in a double you got a free vanity set and shower cap, the second night which was more in a twin you got nothing. Far too hot in the hotel I turned it down to the lowest too.
It's nice to stop here if you are in the area though we would recommend for during the week visit not weekend.

Trendy hotel at the edge of a town where we have stayed before. The room was comfortable with a good-sized bathroom and the lovely Soley shower products. Blackout blinds worked well and even though we were over the road it was quiet at night. I loved the local map with walking trails and free swimming pool tickets and would have used these had I had the energy.
Downstairs shop sold upmarket gifts and there was even a small ice cream parlour. We ate tacos and noodles from the food court which was pricey but good quality. Loved having proper cocktails on a sunny roof terrace- a true rare experience in Iceland in all aspects !
Breakfast was a small selection of items by reception, mostly from the local bakery but more convenient to eat here. Staff were all lovely and well trained. This hotel offers something different as Icelandic hotels can be both pricey and basic. We would stay here again.

We booked at this property driven by the characteristic of the hotel: the presence of more restaurants.
But our expectation has been disappointed.
The property is located in a passage area, the rooms overlook a parking / storage room with numerous sheds.
The structure is modern, quite maintained but not welcoming. Inside there is a small shop, an ice cream shop (closed in the period we stayed) and restaurants, which, however, offer a small menu.
The room was not very spacious, clean. There was a strong smell of sewer.
The bathroom is nice. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are available to guests.
Breakfast consists of a very small buffet. Hot drinks such as cap are not included

Stayed in a number of hotels while driving around the ring road. These were the best designed rooms. Nice large rooms with lots of great little details. The window seat, the tack board with local info, lots of hooks on the wall for your gear, really appreciated the attention to detail. Enjoyed the food hall, shopping areas, and bar. Very active but comfortable spaces. Also very friendly and informative staff. We stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We stayed for 5 nights because of the location in relation to activities we wanted to do and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, the food hall downstairs was delicious every night, and the hotel had a very comfortable atmosphere. All of that aside, the staff were really what made us feel at home. A few staff members in particular (Benny at the front desk and Anton at the bar) were fantastic. Constantly helpful, friendly, and just created a homey atmosphere. Thanks for an amazing stay!

The Greenhouse Hotel is located in Hveragerdi just a half hour drive from Reykjavik. Stayed there one windy weekend in February and the hotel felt like a whole cozy world in a one hotel with lively café and stores where the reception is and in the other side of the hoteel there is a Food hall with various types of food. It is a total concept that works perfectly from the staff to the food and drinks to the rooms. The beds and duvets are especially comfortable. The staff is very helpful and nice and during the evenings at least at weekends there is a live music and a very lively bar with mixed people Icelanders and tourists siting in the glass house atmosphere is unique. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and perfect for a getaway for a weekend or for tourists traveling around Iceland.
