The room is great, the place is great, but AWFUL GUEST SERVICE! First, they do not have any ramp or any other way to go to and from the resort but to take the stairs with 245+ steps. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FAMILY/GROUPS WITH SENIOR CITIZENS. Second, we also brought food for paluto. On the menu, it says 750 per 1kg and 150 additional in excess of 1kg however, the receptionist said it's 750 then another 750 in excess. What's the point of the menu then? Third, there's NO TELEPHONE in the room. If you need anything, you need to go up and down the stairs again. When you call them through the balcony they won't even bother looking at you. When you ask politely they won't even acknowledge your request and look pissed. When I asked ODEE, an elderly woman and not sure if she's the manager, for a number we can call so we don't have to go up and down the stairs just to ask or follow up on something, she even asked us why and said there are no room services hence no phones. WOW. What's the point of having guest rooms. Lastly, we had our meats cooked but they delivered after 2 hours since they prioritized the people dining in their restaurant. They were even pissed that we're following up on our food. As if we're not paying their very expensive cooking charge. If you're planning to stay here, bring a lot of patience and energy.

I'm currently writing this while on our 1st day of our stay, we're currently booked here for 2 nights. STAFF: 1. Hotel Manager (?) We arrived yesterday at around 7:30pm and was accomodated by an elderly woman in glasses at the front desk (probably the manager). Our rooms were paid beforehand and we thought that the usual paperwork would be seamless. However, she started berating us that our rooms we booked online were not yet paid and that she had trouble accomodating walk-in clients because of us. We showed our email confirmation but still REFUSES TO BELIEVE US. She checked her system and started mumbling that "it's only now" that their main office sent their confirmation for our booking. The following morning, we inquired at the front desk how to rent a boat for island hopping and if it's feasible if we could go as soon as feasible. However, this same old lady started talking to us in a stern manner: "Naku wag kayo magmadali, hindi basta basta pwede umalis ngayon, sasabihan ko pa coast guard at ireregister ko pa kayo." We were not even rushing her that we want to leave ASAP. We observed that when she talks with other guests who were foreigners, she was very welcoming and accomodating, and had that jolly attitude. She only started talking to us somewhat "nicely" when she overheard that we are doctors. 2. Personnel We asked for glasses with ice for our ordered drinks with the staff and it took 3 follow-ups and an hour to give for them to give our request. There weren't even many guests around to begin with. 3. Rooms Our rooms were OK-ish. I just couldn't understand how hard is it provide intercoms for our requests. We still need to go up and down 5 flights of stairs just to go to the hotel lobby and ask what we need. The water heater is not even working and the sheets are covered with "suspicious" stains. You listed WIFI as one of the facility's amenities but it's only available at the lobby. And yes, I could barely do so much with the blazing speed of <1mbps. 4. Food The choice of food was limited, tastes good, but somewhat pricey. Service time was long unfortunately.

Altamare is one of the beach resorts I’ve been to that has an excellent service! Their staff was very accommodating despite our many requests. Safety protocols were followed and there weren’t so many guests at that time so plus points for social distancing! The overall ambience of the resort was relaxing and the food, although very limited, was good! Would love to stay there again. ☺️ Pros: -Great room (not too big but spacious enough for 2). -Super nice bed! -Food was limited but suuuuper yummy! Try their Umami Fried Chicken. -SUUUUPER GREAT SERVICE! Their staff was really friendly and accommodating. Very remarkable! -Relaxing view and the sea wasn’t that deep (for at least 5 meters from the shore so plus points again for those who can’t swim). Cons: -Stairs! Instant leg day for ya’ll. -The shore isn’t that wide if you wanna hang out by the shoreline. Overall review: BOOK IT!

We had just returned from a 5N4D (2019.11.28-2019.12.2) dive trip in Anilao. The stay at Altamare was a fabulous choice. We were a bit worried about the food from some of the less positive reviews and the 200+ steps to the resort. To our surprise, the food was fantastic good and beautifully presented. Every dish from breakfast, lunch to dinner was always hotly served. When we returned from dive, friendly staffs are super considerate where they will check with us when we will be ready for the meal so we can enjoy a good shower before taking the sumptuous meal. From our premium room, we enjoyed the captivating pool and sea views. Our room was spacious and clean, the toiletries were well supplied (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, shower cap and hairdryer) in the bathroom, the towels were dry and clean. The aircon works well and the engine won't wake you up in the midnight. However, we have a comment on the water pressure for hot shower, the unstable water pressure for shower should be improved to avoid fluctuate hot and cold water. It's quite a challenge for the 200+ steps to the resort but the Z-shaped staircase allows much easier walking. Overall the resort and the dive centre are well managed. The environment is peaceful and relaxing even though some of the areas were under renovation during our stay. The staffs are very attentive, friendly, considerate and helpful. Thanks to Altamare staffs and we had lots of fun. A big thanks to Aimees in leading such a wonderful team. We are happy to visit Altamare again. Best regards from Arthur and Lowen

It was not as bad as the other reviews would indicate. Service is good. The staff was as helpful as they could be, but the resort is definitely in transition. Rooms were ok. Not big but fine. There were a few issues upon check-in - missing a light bulb, not hot water in one of the rooms. There is no WiFi in the rooms which could be an issue for some, but we brought our MiFi and had picked up a local Globe SIM at Manila Airport Terminal 2 so we were ok. The main issue for us was the missing pool table (billiards) which we had seen the website, but which did not actually exist. They had a few board games - Scrabble, Jenga, Philippine Monopoly so that was ok. There is literally nothing to do at night at this stretch of Anilao. The scuba was great and not expensive. If this is what you want to do 100% of the time, then you will be fine. We did some diving and snorkeling and kayaking (the last 2 are free). There were limited choices for the meals (2-3 choices only), Breakfast was fine, but lunch and dinner got a little monotonous. Portions were small so we ordered a few extra at some meals. There were no prices so we only found out the cost upon checkout (approx PHP 400 per person for one course). For drinks, there was only beer despite the many bottles of rum & whiskey in the eating area. So BYOB if you want a drink. WiFi was ok in the common area on the lower level. It is an isolated resort as are most in this part of Anilao. Nonetheless, we tried to get out a bit. We went next door to Vivere Azure for dinner one night. They have a lovely menu and a full bar but it is expensive. We went into Mabini on tricycles another night and ate at Frido's which was fine and cheap. Only beer there as well despite the many bottles for show at the bar. It was not too full when we were there and most of the other guests were Mainland Chinese (playing mahjong in the evenings). Plan on plenty of stairs, but that seems about normal for this part of Anilao. Vivere was the same.

Warm greetings from Altamare Dive & Leisure Resort Anilao. Many thanks for deciding to stay at Altamare during your recent vacation. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the hospitality and customer service of our staff as we aim to serve you with utmost hotel service at all times. Good to know as well that the water activities we offer were fully utilized by you-- we have a house reef that will allow guests to explore the marine life therein. The resort has just rebranded, and as of the moment some facilities and services, including rooms, food menu and game room, among some, are still being polished. We're sincerely sorry that you were not satisfied with the above-mentioned facilities and services. We take pride in the relaxing and serene ambiance of the resort, and guests usually prefer to hang at the deck to watch and listen to the sound of the waves at the Maricaban Sea. We hope that we can still welcome you again in the future!
