The W Scottsdale hotel comes highly recommended for its prime location, with guests appreciating its closeness to local dining, nightlife, and shopping. The vibrant pool parties and professional staff contribute to the hotel's lively and modern atmosphere, although the buzz can lead to some noise concerns. Guests have called out the hotel for its cleanliness, from spotless rooms to the well-kept property. However, some travelers advise being mindful of the high costs associated with amenities such as valet parking and room service, as well as unexpected charges.

Maybe an amazing place for some travelers, but I found the set up strange and lacking basic amenities.
* Rooms have the bed in the center of the room with an open sink and bath area. Water closet and shower are lightly frosted glass. Absolutely no privacy in this set up. Was also weirded out by the decal of someone taking a pic in the shower. Strange
* Like coffee… you will be miserable. Rooms have nespresso machines. Not my favorite, so I ordered room service coffee which turned out to be French press and full of grounds.
* Like food… forget about it. The bar has an ok menu (hamburger was sent back raw). Room service menu is much more extensive but only available as room service. Good news though, I lost 2 pounds!
* No vending machine or hotel shop, so there isn’t anywhere to pick up a snack or bottle of water. There is a snack box in the room, but at excessive prices
* Lobby bar was was hopping with bass at night and bartenders dressed in painted on leather. Most business travelers didn’t seem amused.
* Disappointed there isn’t outdoor sitting or eating spots aside from the pool. In such a great c,8mate, it would have been great to have outside space. The zen garden was pretty but didn’t have any seats.

Ultimately I rated it 3 stars because the staff is really very nice and accommodating. They genuinely went out of their way. Also, I’ve never stayed anywhere with more work space in a room and multiple USB and outlets.

I usually rate places I have great things to write about at 5* but unfortunately, due to a bad experience, I had to leave early, which was so unfortunate because it is a beautiful place!

I arrived with my dog, and Will checked me in. He was so nice and helpful, and since I arrived early, I went to the bar to have a drink waiting for my room to get ready. Lexie, who was the bartender, saw I was with my pup and immediately brought water out and asked if I wanted food, and recommended a chicken breast with rice for the dog. I thought that was amazing! She was SO sweet, professional and nice to be around.

When it came time to get into my room, Will came to the bar to give me my key and a dog bowl. So sweet!

On day two, I had dinner at Mastros and finished the night off with a bottle of Dom Perignon at the Lobby Bar. There was a great band playing, and I was enjoying the night with my cousin, who I rarely see, since I am from out of town.

When my cousin asked the musician what song he had just played, an escort, who was obliviously drunk, came over and spilt her drink all over my cousin. Now, I know they cannot deny escorts to come into their place, it was very uncomfortable. I had just spend $1,000 US and being treated at such a nice place, especially being a Bonvoy member, was very disrespectful. They advertise this place as if it were family friendly, and I would NEVER visit this place if I had children, even if this happened at the Lobby bar, and children are not allowed in, due to it being a bar.

After that night, I honestly did not feel safe leaving my room, so I slept the night out, and ran out of there the next morning. Literally, ran out.

When I was checking out, Tatum and Skylar were amazing. They were so sweet and felt SO bad about what had happened, but wanted me to speak with their manager on duty to tell him what had happened. When I explained myself and how sad and scared I was, he literally said “ok. We will not charge you for the third night”. That was pretty much it. The girls at the desk were more sympathetic then the manager on duty.

Although everything but the mentioned above was great, I am a little sad that after traveling to Arizona (from Mexico, for 3 nights/ended yo staying 2), finished like this.

Although a very nice place, I would think twice if you are going as a couple (since escorts will harass your partner), going single (since escorts will harass you) or going with children (since they might be exposed).

Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valued feedback. We appreciate you not only providing positive commentary regarding your experiences with our staff, but also addressing opportunities which presented themselves during your visit. We appreciate your business and your loyalty to Marriott, and deeply regret that you and your guest experienced an uncomfortable situation while spending time in our Living Room. W Hotels foster an atmosphere which is very inclusive, which precludes us from profiling our guests or patrons of our property’s outlets; however, we do take any type of solicitation very seriously, and our Security Team would certainly act promptly if we were informed of any such instance in real-time. Thanks again for your feedback and hope to see you again!

The W Scottsdale is a sight to see. It has a fun atmosphere and unique design. The valet staff was probably the most helpful and polite. The staff seemed curt at times, mostly due to covid concerns I would hope. The housekeeping staff did not wear masks while cleaning the rooms.

The pool was clean and the Wet Deck was spacious. The gym was mediocre at best. The on-site lobby bar and restaurant were amazing. The on-site restaurant was fun, fresh, and the service was impeccable.

My wife and I stayed here on our last night on a quick getaway to Scottsdale and Sedona. We've generally had positive W experiences before, but this was terrible. First, the app said we could do a 1245 early check in - the hotel couldn't get us a room till nearly 3. Next, the room itself was pretty decent. A touch on the small side, but space was used extremely well, so we didn't mind. Then, after having dinner at Sushi Roku, we were walking back in and they had this door guy who looked to be trying to intimidate people and stared a hole into me before letting back into the hotel we were paying to stay in - probably because I'm a pretty good size too and he was playing the lame alpha male. The Velvet rope crap is overdone, especially when you want to sleep.

Oh, but I guess that isn't something you get to do. They put us in a room facing the clubs and it was insanely loud my wife called down and explained that we had early flights and they wouldn't do anything for us. We ended up wearing our Bose headphones to sleep and it barely mitigated it.

Don't stay here, unless you plan on only sleeping after 2 am.

I love the bar at this hotel. It's dark and they have really good wine and drinks. They gave me a bottle of sauvignon blanc from New Zealand that they put in a bucket that I could take up to my room! The room was on the small side. And I overlooked the pool. But I did like that in the room my phone could easily connect to the TV's Bluetooth and play music. They don't have the Bliss spa toiletries in the room anymore, and they had something different. But that's probably because they redid the spa downstairs also and it has a new name. The valet parking people are very friendly. And I get your car super fast. There are a whole bunch of bars right outside of the hotel. And there are plenty of good restaurants right around there too. It's only a couple blocks from Scottsdale fashion square mall.

Having PREPAID my three night stay for a boys trip of nearly $6,200 at the W Scottsdale I was pleasantly informed upon checkin that the pool and wet deck will be closed for hotel guests because the hotel needs to make moar money pimping the wet deck out for private functions. As if this greedy company isn’t making enough already?
The pool was the primary reason for selecting the W Scottsdale.
Furthermore, if you want to use the pool on Friday between 12 and 5 you can reserve a area around the pool but you have a minimum spend of $5,000.
Adding insult to injury the security people cruise around like wardens constantly informing hotel guests what their doing wrong from not having a mask in this or that area to not being able to consume alcohol in this area or that because it crosses their corporate territories.
Oh, but it gets better because on Friday and Saturday night because you literally have to clear security to even get into the hotel. This includes room key, identification and a parking down.
Oh ya, here’s a little nugget the hotel has also been cashing in ob (at your expense) we are keeping the room rate the same and higher but no more housekeeping so make sure you clean your own room and make the bed yourself.
What the hell has become of this society where this type of behaviour is tolerated and practiced by a “hospitality” business.
Never again, guests be warned.

We booked this hotel with 3 other couples for a fun weekend away from work and kids to relax by the pool and have some drinks. We were all sorely disappointed. The rooms are small, very blah. Not worth the price in any way. Staff at check-in was professional. Our friends tried on several occasions to get into the lobby bar at night and were never “allowed” in for a variety of reasons. The bouncers appeared to only want young trendy patrons. (We were all upper 30’s/40’s and wore clothes).

The biggest disappointment was the pool. This is not run by the hotel, but outsourced to a “VIP” booking company. First off the pool and pool area is small. All seats basically have to be reserved for minimum of $1K food and beverage. It is a joke. There is absolutely no opportunity to sit by the pool if you do not commit to a reservation. We reserved a cabana one day for $2K minimum, and we’re treated like 2nd class citizens. Ten of us were placed in the tiniest Cabana there. Several others had no people in them, but when we asked to switch, we were told that they were “reserved”. No one was in them the entire day. When we asked for extra seating, we were ignored. Serving staff was fairly pleasant, although they were minimally attentive as they were too busy drinking expensive champagne with the people in the next cabana over.

If you are looking for a fun weekend away with friends to spend some time by the pool to relax and have some cocktails, do NOT stay here. I would also mention (even though my children weren’t with us), this is NOT a family friendly hotel/pool. Families with children of any age, beware!!

I only created this account to share how displeased we were with the service and experience here.
We are not ones to complain but we will not be coming back.

My boyfriend is an ambassador elite for Marriott.

We were not offered any upgrades which was understandable since it was a busy weekend. The room was tiny / not worth it at all.
The housecleaning service only happened once (and a couple of small personal items went missing and oddly there were some of my toiletries placed under our bed-I didn’t put them there.)

We had to call for housekeeping service.

Some of the front staff do not have an outgoing or a friendly disposition; which is off putting.

The worst of it , though, was the PUTRID smell in our room that we awoke to on Monday morning.
It was so bad that we rang the front desk at 6am and she says that they clean the grease vents every Monday morning.
We are absolutely appalled and baffled by our stay here.

There is definitely a need and want for room for improvement across the board.

I suggest staff members get refreshed in their customer service skills and more professionalism throughout.

I stayed here for a girl’s trip. While we did have a great time, there were a few things that were frustrating about the hotel. On the weekend, they do not allow you to use an umbrella by the pool unless you pay for a table, which is a minimum of $1,500 worth of drinks. There were umbrellas going unused because they did not sell out the tables, but they still would not allow us to use them. I have very fair skin and cannot be in the sun very long. On a positive note, they do have umbrellas in the pool.

They don’t have a store or vending machine that you can buy snacks or water at. As you can imagine, it is very hot in Scottsdale and you need to stay hydrated, especially if you are drinking. So you end up drinking the $10 water bottles they put in your room.

Lastly, we had 3 rooms and the sink in all of them were clogged.

Our trip started out rocky. We stayed for Labor Day week for a total of 5 days with two rooms. We booked through Marriott Vacations as Gold members.

We chose this property because of the location and pool. What we didn't know was that pool capacity would be capped so early on in the day. On our first Saturday, we were unaware that the hotel started pool parties. Although it was for hotel guests only, cabanas were available at Vegas prices (starting at 1K) or you took your luck with getting there early enough to get a spot. We did neither because we were unaware of the pool parties and the capacity. We got there around noon but had to put our name on the waiting list. We waited over three hours before we were given a spot at the pool (this is after I complained multiple times to multiple people). It was a Saturday afternoon in 115 degree weather, waiting over 3 hours to use the pool was crazy when we chose this hotel because of it's pool!

After speaking to multiple employees, I was put in touch with the Director of Ops- Laura. I cannot thank Laura enough for all that she did for us. For the rest of the duration of our trip, we had a reserved area in the pool for our two rooms. Laura really took care of us as the rest of the pool staff did. The waitresses, security, and all of the other employees working in the pool area really helped make our trip so much better. Laura turned the hotel's wrong into a right and that is all we can ask for.

Thank you Laura and the rest of the pool staff for an unforgettable trip. I know we weren't the easiest guests to initially deal with but you truly turned our trip around after the terrible first day pool experience. We sincerely thank you and we can't wait to come again!

Don’t know construction timeline (does anyone ever) but pool and pool bar remain open. In fact, if you want to sleep before midnight then DON’T get a room overlooking the pool. You might be tempted (other views are parking lots and such) but on Friday and Saturday nights they play really loud techno music (loud repetitive bass) till late for the three people who frequent the pool bar.
