Sanctuary Camelback Mountain - A Gurney's Resort & Spa is frequently lauded for its spacious and immaculate rooms that boast stunning views and comfortable amenities, although some guests mention minor noise issues. The service here is often described as friendly and professional, enhancing the elegant atmosphere that many find beautifully executed. While the resort's extensive amenities, including wellness offerings and free classes, are a hit, a few have pointed out spa noise and maintenance concerns. Despite its picturesque mountain location, some guests feel that the costs outweigh the value provided.

Clinging to the north side of Camelback Mountain sits the boutique Sanctuary Camelback Mountain (dubbed the Sanctuary). I relished my Mountain suite with balcony, fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, living room, stone walls, light woods and glam furnishings done in a neutral color palette. The tiled bathroom was outfitted with a soaker tub and separate shower. Elements is the fine dining venue at the Sanctuary serving American cuisine fused with Asian flavours with the eating experience enhanced by sunset views from the outdoor patio. The menu emphasizes seasonal dishes with global influences like Chilean Sea Bass, Yellowfin Tuna Steak, Argentinian Ribeye and more....I opted for the Island Trout....delicious and fresh like just out of the water. The jade Bar is a hot spot for Happy Hour. The resort is endowed with an infinity pool, a fitness centre, pickle ball and tennis courts, and a movement studio that offers daily fitness class. The highlight of the property is a 12000 sq. ft. Spa that offers Asian therapies in 12 indoor and outdoor retreats surrounded by soothing water features and a meditation garden. The menu promotes exotic options including Tok Sen massage which blends Thai Massage with vibration therapy and the signature Golden Lotus Balancing Ritual. I delved into an acupuncture routine as a remedy to sooth my aching bones after an arduous tennis match.
So, if you are looking for a health-infused retreat, nestled in a stunning mountain backdrop.............then try the..................Sanctuary Camelback Mountain..................
..........a tranquil wellness environment.

Great time at the Sanctuary! The setting was beautiful and although the room may have needed a bit of an update, we really appreciated having a fireplace and a balcony! Plenty of places to lounge and relax!

The included classes were amazing. We did some yoga, did some stretching (thanks, Patty!), and did the sound bath. The bike and hike up Echo Canyon was canceled on the scheduled day due to rain, but we were able to reschedule it (unfortunately for a fee, but it was worth it), and I have to say, I had one of the best massages the day before we left!

Due to purchasing through AmEx Platinum, breakfast was comped, which was awesome because the food at elements was SOOO good!

And I can't say enough about the staff! From the valet, to the cleaning lady, to the servers at the bar and in the restaurant, it truly felt like everyone was happy and we were treated so kindly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here when I come back!

Our stay at sanctuary was incredible. The location is phenomenal nestled in the heart of paradise valley with mountains surrounding you. The views from our room captured all the beauty of the mountains all the way from sunrise to sunset. But what really blew us away was the service. I have never had such incredible service at a resort in my life! Upon check in the text you from a number you can use to request anything you want. And I mean anything. Need an umbrella and pool floats brought to an ancillary pool? No problem! More water and towels to your room? you got it! We used this text number for absolutely anything we needed during our stay and the staff was all too happy to accommodate our requests. Sanctuary is certainly a premium priced stay, but you absolutely get your moneys worth!

Mweh...We decided to get away for Christmas and possibly New Year 2024.
We rented Spa Patio Casita King and it was nice and very clean. We also loved the view of Camelback Mountain. The furniture and bathroom cabinetry have that "tired" look, though and need upgrading. It would be nice to have soft close drawers. As it is now, you close one drawer and the other one opens due to the air push. The shower enclosure is badly designed, because it has a glass partition between the tub and shower, however the shower head is in the open area where there is no glass. It would make so much more sense to have a shower head on the opposite wall where the glass partition shields from water splashing onto the bathroom floor.
The Christmas Dinner was a disaster. They were oversold and this always results in poor service. Our reservation was for 6:30, but we didn't get the table until 7pm. That's not so bad, considering that it was Christmas.
What was unacceptable though, was us sitting at the empty table for the next half an hour. We noticed 3 waiters huddled together in a corner, while we tried to get their attention. Unfortunately, we were sitting next to a big family table and I guess, they got all of the attention. Once the food started being served, they omitted one of the courses. (it was pre-set menu). Eventually it was brought over and everything resumed ok. We were finally done with dinner at 9:30 pm. The food was good, but the service was bad and it makes the whole experience very disappointing. What makes it even worse is that the management must realize this and that is why they make 20% tip mandatory on a bill. We have no problem tipping more than 20% for a good service, but this just didn't sit well with us. Again, this may not be the waitstaff fault, I'm sure that otherwise they are very good servers, they were just overwhelmed. I think it was the management's ambition to sell more dinners that caused this fiasco. We decided that instead of subjecting ourselves to a repeat situation on New Years, it's better to leave early and this is what we did.

I don’t mind paying the price to stay at a luxury resort but this one is charging crazy high prices for example a small pot of coffee (2 cups) was $25. Ordered guacamole and chips at the pool I believe was $18 but the guacamole was served in a small plastic container the size you would get for ketchup with fries.. a basic yogurt parfait breakfast was $50. I had a spa treatment which cost $500 .. it was lovely except I had to listen to people yelling and carrying on at the pool so I could not fully enjoy it.. bad design for a spa to have treatment rooms that close to the pool where all that noise is happening… then to complete the experience they double charged my card at checkout… i had to call and get them to correct it… i suggest checking your card charges and the folio they email to be sure its correct.

I will not return to this resort.

I feel bad writing this because I wanted to love this resort. I booked three nights for my husbands 50th birthday and we traveled from out of state, it was his first time in Arizona.

Let’s start with the pros, the location is wonderful and the staff was very nice.

We entered our one bedroom suite and the toilet area smelled of sewage, there was a stain on the couch, a cushion was missing from the patio area, the bathroom mirror light was not working and there was no turn down service. I work really hard to afford vacations like this and expect more attention to detail for this type of property. I expressed my concerns to the front desk who were very nice (offered to move my room but I declined because I did not want to interrupt his special day). But other than the seat cushion being added, no other concerns were addressed. In fact it just got worse. For example, the maid did not fold up the hair dryer, did not put away the ironing board, did not supply ample towels, did not take away dirty dishes, etc. I was also unaware of the concept of the resort being so spread out. The golf carts do come quickly but I did not want to always call. We did not want to walk down to the main pool so opted for the one close to our villa - no towels, no restroom, no drink service, no umbrellas or shade. And the one time we did go to the main stark pool, my husband got pooped on by a bird. We also rented an electronic vehicle and no charging existed onsite. The room itself was a tad small, the patio and bathroom in particular. Not relaxing by any means.

My recommendation is to stay elsewhere and maybe come here for dinner or drinks.

It probably didn’t help that the two days prior we stayed at the Four Seasons where none of the above was an issue and the little details were what we are used to.

The Sanctuary was a very relaxing and refreshing experience. The room, the environment, the restaurant, the pool were all exceptional: stylish, spacious and very clean. The interior design was meticulous, minimalistic and luxurious at the same time. The location is easily approachable and provides a unique layout for the resort, it is an adventure to walk between the different areas surrounded by the Camelback mountain in the background. The staff and the overall service was outstanding. Whenever we left the room, by the time we got back everything was cleaned and organized down to the little details as if we stepped in for the first time. At the restaurant, bar and pool the staff always asked for our needs without making us wait. The prices reflect the quality of the service, it makes a perfect destination for a summer getaway.

This was our second stay at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain and we were blown away...again. While it's not the glitziest 5 star hotel you can find, the warm hospitality, comfortable and clean rooms, and elite amenities provide an incredible experience. As someone who likes to rent a car for the convenience of getting around AZ, I appreciated the hotel's offer for complimentary parking and conveniently located parking lots adjacent to each block of rooms. The hotel pool is a great way to relax, with friendly staff making sure you're comfortable and taken care of. My massage was great and the spa amenities are clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The room was the best part, very clean, cool in temperature, large, and with the most comfortable bed and sheets you can find. This hotel is one of our favorites and we'll definitely be coming back!

Ill start with this, if you've just begun your wedding search, are starting to realize your going to spend a lot more than anticipated and are worried about making such a huge decision on venue sight-unseen... stop scrolling now and book this place.

We recently got married at the Sanctuary at Camelback, and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We came into this nervous because we were not able to do a site visit prior to our arrival but had certainly paid quite a bit for not knowing what we were about to walk into. However, from the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Sierra, our event coordinator, went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was perfect. We were even surprised with a room upgrade that made our stay that much more special.

Our ceremony took place in the Sunset Garden, which provided a breathtaking backdrop at just the right time of day. We then moved to the Praying Monk for dinner, where every detail was flawlessly executed—from the elegant Portofino lights to the perfect cake placement and even the DJ booth setup. The food was exceptional, exceeding expectations with every course.

It’s clear that the Sanctuary team takes pride in their work, and they made our special day truly unforgettable. Honestly, I wouldn’t even be surprised if they somehow arranged the perfect weather, too. If you’re considering the Sanctuary at Camelback for your wedding or any special event, I wholeheartedly recommend it. They’ll make your day flawless from start to finish.

From check in to check out the staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived a little early and our room wasn’t ready. they got our bags put away in cool storage so nothing melted on a hot day. We went to the pool had some cocktails and food. Once our room was ready the staff delivered our keys to us at the pool. Our room was stunning and the outdoor shower was great on a hot day. Thanks for making our anniversary stay amazing!
