This is not fit for humans I understand that this is a HOSTAL not HOTEL even then there are basic things that must be provided. Let me lay out the problems and I’ve posted pics and video - The roof had a huge patch of mildew right above the headboard of the bed. The woman Ingrid said they were full and couldn’t do anything about it - The doorknob and lock seemed it could come off with one jerk - The shower curtain was loose almost about to come off - They couldn’t even print my boarding card for me at the reception This is too dirty and inefficient. I’m not sure how they are getting high marks AVOID!

This was the least favorite of the all hotels we stayed in on our trip, but on the positive side we found the desk staff to be extremely helpful and kind. The hotel is very basic. The photos on Tripadvisor make it look really good but in real life the place is on the edge of shabby. We like simplicity but the rooms are spartan. Little conveniences are missing - like a shelf in the bathroom, a large mirror in the room and a bench for a suitcase. Things like this, that are standard in other hotels, are forgotten here. It has a motel feel. Sounds echo across the hotel and you can hear even normal level conversations. The breakfast is also basic because the kitchen is tiny. There is a steep downhill/uphill walk to the center of town. On the upside, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the staff is very helpful. It's a decent enough place but completely unremarkable in every way. If I return to El Calafate I would stay elsewhere.…

We loved the hotel. Location is very convenient, 10 min walk to the city center. Martin was a really great host, he went beyond our expectations and helped us a lot. We really enjoyed our time in this hotel.

Very near town 10 minute, returning is uphill. Unless you take the wrong turning like i did on my first. Pleasant and clean, wifi and computer available. Great breakfast puts other higher categories to shame. Great for solos travellers too. Gracias por todo Martin

We stayed 2 different times ...on our way to El Chalten, then when travelling to Torres del Paine. Located mid-way between bus station and downtown making it very easy to get around. Clean & good breakfast. We were very surprised at the quality of the hotel for the price - rooms had small refrigerators, large clean bathrooms and comfortable beds.

Nice hotel conveniently located near the bus station. Rooms were basic but clean. Staff were attentive and helpful. Basic, continental breakfast included. Hotel worked out well as a base for visiting Perito Moreno Glacier and checking out the town center.

Perfect location between the bus station & town - we really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious- the dark grainy bread was a highlight! The bed was so comfortable - the shower was the best we’ve had in this part of South America. Wifi was great too. We only stayed 1 night - would definitely recommend.

We thought this hotel was excellent for what we paid. The two staff we dealt with spoke good English were very friendly & even helped us book our transfer back to the airport. The room was basic but was just what we needed. Loved the breakfast - lots of variety.

Check-in was OK, staff could be more friendly (smiling should not be optional) but they hardly spoke any English. This is unforgivable in a resort that has one main attraction (glaciers) but attracts people from all over the world. We had to carry our luggage upstairs ourselves. The hotel and our room are best characterized by the words “basic, simple, cheap”; furniture is the cheapest one can buy, and the doors are thin and let in any outside noise. Carpet in room and on the stairs is low quality and thin. The bed (cama matrimonial in Spanish) was a small Queen size. And a good indication of the level of furniture and construction was the TV, the old boxy type which should be found only in a museum since flat panel TVs have been available for over a decade. The room was hot and I found out the knob of the heater was missing, so I was supplied with a wrench to turn the knob. When we left it still was not fixed. The telephone on a night stand next to the bed did not work. There are no rooms with a nice view, as surroundings are pretty bleak. Location is not that good: while stated as only 500 Meter from downtown, it is not mentioned that a walk back is uphill on a deserted road. Breakfast is downright poor: rolls (traditional Argentinean media lunas) are not fresh, they have no cheese or ham or eggs, only the little plastic containers with jam. When we left in the morning for our first excursion, I found out that by wriggling the door knob from the outside, I could open the door without a key (how is that for security?). Upon return it was fixed; but then we discovered just before taking a shower that they had forgotten to put new towels in the room. It is relatively clean, but I can think of better places to stay in El Calafate.…
