There is no doubt that the location of this hotel, in downtown Stellenbosch, is perfect. The staff will take your car to the garage and you don't really need it for the rest of your stay. It is advertised as a boutique hotel, but that we could not quite agree with. In addition, the hotel is quite expensive. At the same time, the room was comfortable. The shower did not work very well: the water drained slowly and the temperature of the water was not consistent. Also, it would have been nice if there had been some way to hang your towels. The breakfast was served inside or on a shady courtyard, which was very cosy and the breakfast itself was very good.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here, comfortable room with a couple of quirks and a very good restaurant. Breakfast is outstanding, and the baked goods available are worthy of an award. Staff are friendly and helpful. We had a Plenty room and as it is the top category room, were a little disappointed not to have a balcony as we could see other rooms have. There was a nice alcove with windows overlooking the pool but only 1 comfy chair so would suggest adding another armchair so both guests can enjoy. My other piece of feedback would be to opaque fully the glass between shower/toilet and bedroom as a night visit to the loo either needs to be torchlit or wake the other occupant when turning light on. The location on a central street was great for us although I would be nervous of noise if in a room overlooking it. Overall a decent hotel.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Stellenbosch and had a nearly perfect stay except for checkout. We'd booked an airport transfer via the hotel and at checkout were told that the hotel had added a 20% handling charge. Seeing our surprised faces the receptionist immediately and firmly told us that all customers were made aware of this charge at the time of booking. I checked my emails and we weren't made aware. I was more than happy to pay the amount and just felt the receptionist could have handled the situation better to not leave us with a final negative feeling about the hotel.

Spent a lovely few days at the Oude Werf during a recent visit to South Africa. The location is great within Stellenbosch -- wonderful to walk the old town and enjoy neighboring art galleries, wineries, and other sites. The hotel has extremely comfortable rooms and the staff is over the top wonderful -- looking after every possible need. Don't miss the (free) coffee bar and the wonderful breakfasts. All our meals there were great and we could not have had a better experience. Thanks to the entire team for a fantastic and memorable stay.

Very nice place to stay in Stellenbosch. Staff really friendly and attentive, nothing too much trouble. The room was really nice and clean with the biggest bed I have ever slept in. Valet parking at no charge was a great asset as the street is really busy & bustling in the evening. Would definitely stay her again and would strongly recommend it.

My favorite hotel in Stellenbosch. Have stayed here many times. Location couldn’t be more central. Staff are super friendly. Rooms are beautifully decorated with different decor in every room. Breakfasts are brilliant with both a buffet as well as some wonderful made to order items on the menu. Concierge is wonderful with great recommendations for day trips and restaurants and very helpful in getting bookings on busy days too.

I had previously stayed at the hotel seven years ago. It is allegedly the oldest hotel in South Africa. It has undergone some positive renovation in recent years tastefully don e to retain the character and charm of this beautiful building. The staff are welcoming and helpful in particular Prudence and Kaylee on the front desk .I had a Plenty room which had a patio facing the pool. It was very clean and comfortable. There is a varied and extensive breakfast offering. It is well located being centrally sited in Church Street. The staff arranged for a driver Cliff to transport me to Franschoek and the Wine tram. He was excellent..In summary a enjoyable stay in a very nice hotel. I shall return.

What wonderful atmosphere in Stellenbosch. So much to see and do with shops, vineyards, history and walks. The Oude Werf Hotel is wonderfully placed because it is central to everything. The staff are so attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they organised an interesting vineyard walking tour for the four of us. The service in the restaurant and bar was great and we quickly felt the staff were aware of our needs. Our bedroom was spacious and looked over bustling Church Street. Our family had a bedroom with a balcony over looking the gardens and pool. A lovely spot for a wine in the evenings. We would love to return to this hotel and would definitely recommend it. It was fully booked while we were there so do book ahead.

Very smart town centre hotel. Staff were excellent & breakfast amazing. Only disappointed with room which was very small & shower room so small it’s only designed for one person at a time. We booked late & only had limited choice of standard room. If I return I would book early & get a superior room for sure!! Pool nice but cold.

Stayed quite a few times previously and this hotel delivers on every front. Efficient and friendly staff in all departments. Rooms very clean and modern and very well serviced. Great location in centre of busy, bustling town, especially with university students arriving with their parents. A great buzz around the whole place. Also love the garden, small swimming pool area as well as great valet parking at the hotel. What’s not to like!! They did have a problem with the boiler when we were there and had no hot water for 2 days, really annoying and inconvenient. When complained to reception it was dealt with quickly and efficiently by the management. They offered a fair refund and we left as two happy and satisfied customers!
