I was lucky enough to stay at the Thabile Lodge from 07 to 11 October 2021. I was picked up at the airport by a most polite and friendly driver, and had a marvelous drive through the mountains. He was super helpful to stop at a shop where I could, upon my request, buy semi precious stones for my jewelry making business. The lodge was lovely, in a semi arid area, and loved the en suite chalets. The vista is wonderful, beautiful mountains, which changed a—reached as the day went by, best in the evening, with crystal clear air, and East to see-details. I loved the desert plants, which attracted flocks of wonderful birds; red bishops, sun birds, starlings, hoopoes, ibis, and others. Seldom one can see such a colorful variety. The food was just Michelin Star quality, even if they don’t have a star (yet). They better hold on the the chef, or he will one day be snapped off by one of the famous restaurants. The owner, Glen, and his assistant and responsible for the bar, Nicky, were always there to guide you, entertain you and tell their stories. I felt almost like I was in a wonderful home, among friends, and I will be back, to enjoy more 0f the beautiful sights in the area, may be climb some of the mountains. Thank you for a wonderful weekend, which strengthen and renewed body and soul, and spirit.

We stayed one night at Thabile Lodge in December 2020 with our three children (age: 4-6 y/o), during a road trip from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. Len’s personal, cosy and warm welcome made it one of our favourite hotels. Before arrival, Len was available via whatsapp to confirm our stay and the dinner. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Len, his team and four beautiful dogs. After a swim in the pool and enjoying the gorgeous landscapes and sunset, we had a delicous dinner. The rooms were spacious and tastefully decorated. Unfortunately we had to leave the next morning (after a delicious breakfast!), to continue our trip. We highly recommend this place and hope to be back one day!

I called with panic in my voice - Covid was diagnosed at my final holiday destination - I needed to hover for a few days and decided to explore the Klein Karoo! During my call with Len - I just knew, Thabile Lodge will be a special place. Len and his team, Ute, and Hennie and Chantal in the kitchen are amazing. Hospitality of another order, calmness, and gentle people, beautiful surroundings, attention to detail, beautiful comfortable rooms. Did I mention the food🎉🎉🎉 and wine👏🏻🎉🎉. And advice on which road to take to explore, and rest our year end weary souls. This is a place! We stayed 2 nights, and I will be back. This is a most special place! Thank you Len and Team.

En route home from Addo National Elephant Park we spent an enjoyable night here. We were met by Hennie and all the very friendly dogs. This little oasis has a lovely pool for those hot summer days. Our chalet was carefully appointed and a very comfortable king size bed. The lodge is situated just outside Oudtshoorn on a quiet road with lovely views across the mountain. This is ostrich country and chef Hennie produced an excellent dinner. To start with there was a mixed platter of ostrich carpaccio, bobotie spring rolls, homemade ostrich pate and a little bowl of spicy carrot soup. A great selection of what is locally available. Main was beautifully cooked tender ostrich fillet and to finish off a very light meringue dish. And local red and white wine. We specifically asked asked for an ostrich treat and chef Hennie your cooking and presentation was superb. Thank you. A lovely breakfast was served before we headed off to the Ostrich Emporium in Oudtshoorn to stock up with this healthy meat. Unfortunately we were the only people there that night and we really need to support our local hospitality industry who are going through a tough time.

From the minute we arrived one could feel the calmness of this nature lodge and the beauty of its surrounds working their way into your soul. Greeted by the owner Len and his bassets, we were shown around the facilities. Well appointed chalets housed the accommodation with stunning views of the red hills and Swartberg mountains in the distance. The main house with its beautiful gardens, cypress trees and pepper trees houses the restaurant, lounge and bar area, all overlooking the lush green gardens. This is a piece of heaven where ones soul can rest, surrounded by caring and friendly staff providing sumptuous breakfasts and three course dinners. Regaling stories with the Owner after dinner about local life and people had us in fits of laughter! May Thabile Lodge and the people who care after it prosper and continue to feed the souls of the wanderers, the weary and just ordinary visitors looking for a unique country side experience.
