Travelers' Choice
Zest Boutique Hotel, located in Green Point, right in the middle of Cape Town and close to most attractions, is a vibey and interesting boutique hotel, where trend setters and opinion makers feel comfortable. Internally, the décor is simply remarkable, impressively taking inspiration from the care-free days of the 70’s and catapulting it into the modern world creating a wonderful combination of vibrant and contemporary colour, light and creativity. There are fourteen double guest rooms; each one designed to maximise space and light. All rooms have an impressive range of facilities including king size bed, ensuite bathroom, a laptop safe, plasma TV, free Wi-fi, air conditioning, designer teas and pod coffee machines, and locally made biodegradable bathroom amenities. Included in the services offered are a 24-hour concierge, a day room, breakfast served until 11am every day, an all-day dining menu, in-house laundry, a bar, and Spa Treatments, either in the comfort of your room, or at the Zest Spa treatment room in its sister hotel just 3 minutes’ walk away. Zest Boutique Hotel is part of The Living Journey Collection and beautifully compliments The Tree House Boutique Hotel in Cape Town, Chapter House Boutique Hotel in Franschhoek, One Marine Drive Boutique Hotel in Hermanus and The River Manor Boutique Hotel in Stellenbosch.

I stayed at Zest recently on a business trip. I travel to Cape Town frequently and wanted to try a new place and experience a new neighborhood. Zest had a special offer (three nights for the price of two) so it was very affordable. Check-in went smoothly and the receptionist was a great help to me when I discovered that I had left my bag in the Uber that had just dropped me off. She kept me calm and helped me to contact the driver who immediately returned with the bag, the angel that he was. She offered me a cold drink and showed me to my room, making sure I understood where everything was. I had a Deluxe Room on the second floor. The room is not huge but it is comfortable. Not that while the toilet is separated from the room by a door, the sink and the shower are in the main room which is a bit unusual. As I was on my own, I did not find this to be a problem. The bed was big and comfortable. There is also a desk where you can comfortably work and the wireless internet generally met my needs. There were little treats on my pillow every night and there is also tea and a pod coffee maker in the room, all nice touches. I liked that the toiletries provided were in large bottles (and not single use) minimizing waste and that there is a bucket in the shower that you can use to collect water - the housekeepers use it for cleaning. The breakfast is nice with a small buffet and a list of five or six hot items that you can order. I also loved the fact that there is tea/coffee and cake available in the afternoon. There is a lovely pool but it is not heated so don't count on using it in the winter months. There is also a gas fire place outside and the staff will turn it on for you so you can sit outside and enjoy your cake. I also enjoyed the view of Cape Town from the rooftop deck. The hotel is just one street off the main drag in Greenpoint so it is relatively quiet but it is a very quick walk to lots of shops and restaurants (including Bootlegger Coffee, Giovannis, and Jason Bakery, all of which are worth a visit). It is also right across the street from an interesting cafe/coffee shop called The Strangers Club that is in an old house and features a number of interesting shops. I enjoyed my stay at Zest and all of the personal attention from their friendly staff.

Dear Fantajan Thank you for choosing Zest Boutique Hotel for your recent stay in Cape Town, and for taking the time to post such an incredibly detailed review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, and appreciated all of our special little touches. We get a lot of great feedback about our location - close to everything yet nice and quiet. The roof garden, which is relatively new, is becoming very popular a place to work or relax, or just sit and appreciate the magnificent views that Cape Town has to offer. Please do stay in touch and let us know when you are planning your next trip to the area. We would love to welcome you back to Zest Boutique Hotel, or to another one of The Living Journey Collection in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Hermanus. Warm regards and thanks again. Lorraine

the rooms were nice, but we had issue after issue, firstly we paid for an airport pick up which did not happen, one of our rooms tv's did not work for 3 of the 4 days that we stayed there. In fact it stayed on, would not change channels and would not switch off, so we had to sleep with it on all night. we brought it to their attention every single day and it was only fixed on our last day. On day we came back to the hotel at 14h30 and our rooms were not even made up. Lovely staff, but not a good impression overall.

Thank you for positing a review and for choosing Zest Boutique Hotel for your stay in Cape Town. As you know a review of this nature is both unusual and uncomfortable for us. We work very hard at ensuring that all of our guests have a truly exceptional time with us, and our reputation speaks for itself. Just to follow up what was explained to you in the hotel, the two TV's where the electrics blew as a result of load shedding have both been replaced with a surge protector, so this matter has been dealt with. Please let us know when you are planning your next trip to Cape Town. We would like to welcome you back and showcase the service that we are known for. Warm regards Lorraine

We loved our stay at Zest Boutique Hotel. The hotel was quiet, beautifully decorated, and well located. It was close to everything we wanted to see, but still on a nice, quiet street removed enough to be peaceful. We ate breakfast there each morning and enjoyed the continental option as well as the omelettes. We didn’t get to spend as much time on the roof and in the back outdoor garden as we would have liked, but the entire property was beautiful. All of the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We have no complaints!

We stayed 5 nights at the Zest and couldn't have been more pleased. The decor is fresh, clean and stylish. The breakfasts were generous including a buffet and hot entree made to order. Afternoon tea is offered with an original cake each day. An unexpected pleasure. A spacious rooftop viewing area is a bonus where we enjoyed the sunsets. It was too chilly to use the pool but we enjoyed the patio area with fireplace. Most importantly, all the staff were extra sweet and helpful. We will remember this venue as one of our favorites.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review, and for choosing Zest Boutique Hotel for your stay in Cape Town. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us, and managed to use so many of the amenities. We get a lot of great comments about our breakfast, and our chef is as motivated today as she was all those years ago when she started with us - such a wonderful asset, and she will de delighted to hear your comments. The roof garden is a real secret treasure and I am very pleased that you had an opportunity to sit and view some of the magnificent Cape Town sunsets there. Please stay in touch and let us know if you are thinking about crossing the Atlantic again. We would love to welcome you back to Zest Boutique Hotel, or to another one of The Living Journey Collection in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Hermanus. Warm regards and thanks again. Lorraine

Dear Andi Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time in Cape Town, and your stay with us at Zest Boutique Hotel. When re recently re-wrote our breakfast menu we debated the content at length and have been delighted with the result. The vegan options are very popular, even amongst non-vegans, as they provide a lighter alternative with just as much flavour. We are so pleased that you appreciated this. Thank you also for the very strong recommendation. We would love to welcome you back to Zest Boutique Hotel, so please stay in touch and let us know your travel plans, either to Cape Town or to another one of The Living Journey Collection in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Hermanus. Warm regards and thanks again. Lorraine
