Our family had a wonderful time at Hoyo Hoyo in July. The service was outstanding, we thoroughly enjoyed the company of Ralph at meal times. Our safari guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with many great sightings. The rooms were beautiful and very well kept, we will never forget having elephants walk past our rooms as we watch on! A beautiful setting, we could not have asked for a better experience.

A fantastic stay, we arrived and 5 minutes later were out on our first game drive, the guide was knowledgable and informative, because of the location of the park, he was able to access areas not seen by other park goers. The food was tasty and the staff were helpful and attentive, but also went out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped. The massage also one of the best I've experianced. lovely also to know that she and all the staff have a vested interest in the resort. We had forgotten it was all inclusive- so a lovely further surprise on arriving!

The amazing architecture of Hoyo- Hoyo Safari Lodge with its traditional Tsonga units and thatched roofs greet you long before you arrive at the main entrance from where it is perfectly placed on the banks of the Mluwati River in the Mluwati Conssesion with nothing but the wild African bush of the Kruger National Park arounnd it. The red, brown and burned orange coulour scheme just ad to the earthy traditional yet luxurious feel of the lodge. Each of the six units have its own viewing porch, air conditioning, outdoor showers and butler services. Amazing, guided game drives and nature walks, everything you would come to expect from a safari lodge. They serve amazing meals from the wood deck where you can spend your evenings looking at plenty of anthelpe and big 5 animals across the river.
The perfect blend of African Tradition and luxury.

Our stay was pleasant. The staff and the manager (Thulani) will do anything to make you comfortable, It is a small lodge so you are assured of individual attention.
The game drives were also perfect and fun with our ranger Connor.
The lodge is not fenced so you get the real bush experience because animals do come around- Don’t be scared there are rangers who escort you to your room at night.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary- we also got a gift.
The food was also very nice! We will definitely go back!
Thank you to Hoyo hoyo.

Very nice setting and architecture of the lodge, good waterhole right in view of the outdoor dining area. 6 huts with only 12 guests at a time ensure intimate bush experience. Rooms nicely decorated, albeit a bit small. Outdoor shower in unfenced camp gives you a nice feel of being part of it all. Good food and drink options, attentive service (extra credits to the chef!)
Our guide Tylan worked very hard to show us nature in the Mluwati Concession as well as adjacent Kruger NP areas, explained very well and was pleasant to be with.
In terms of animals, almost everything around you could wish for, frequent waterhole visits by various creatures but also on game drives a nice variety of game could be seen. Will definitely recommend this lodge to friends, however only if available at special rates.

We will never forget our amazing 3-night stay here and glad I chose it over other lodges. Love the intimate atmosphere and very personalized service. Lodge has only 6 rooms which means maximum 12 guests and maximum 6 on the game drives per vehicle.
. The staff and our guide Victor are the best (special shout out to Given, Wonder). Saw the big 5 and enjoyed the daily sightings of elephants and other animals in our room and from the dining area.
It's been almpst 4 years but the memories live foreverer. Thanks once again for a magical stay!

After a 3 day stay at Hoyo Hoyo, we did not regret upgrading to stay at this wonderful property on the Mluwati concession. The staff were absolutely wonderful, tending to our every request gracefully. While the food options are limited to 2 to 3 choices per course for lunch and dinner, we enjoyed everything we ate and certainly didn’t go hungry. Our game driver, Connor, was friendly, knowledgeable and fun.

While on the concession, you’re certainly not guaranteed to see anything you wouldn’t see in the public roads of Kruger (which the game drivers also have access to), but because we were on the concession we were able to get up close and personal with the lions that were on the property. Additionally, the elephants visited us at the watering hole during lunch and we utilized our outdoor shower with a view of the kudu grazing. At dinner we even saw the naughty buffalo that likes to hang around the property.

All in all, there’s not enough good things to say about our stay at Hoyo Hoyo. We would happily return.

After a tiring journey from England, the warmth of the welcome and excellent lunch cheered us up and refreshed us for our first safari. The accommodation was interesting and comfortable. The food provided for each meal was excellent and the attentiveness, friendliness and service from the staff fantastic. Our safari guide was Tylan who was brilliant. He was personable, knowledgable and friendly. He was great company and easy to get along with, and we thoroughly enjoyed our times on our drives. Hoyo Hoyo is not luxurious, but is wonderfully comfortable and we felt spoilt and very well looked after. Would recommend to anyone.

Hoyo Hoyo is a place I would recommend to anyone wanting tranquility but also adventure. This lodge did a great job combining both of those qualities. My friend and I stayed in Room #5 which is the only room with a fruit tree on the porch. Highly recommend requesting this room because you'll see animals on your porch and it adds to the loveliness of this hidden oasis.

Given was our daily meal and drink server and always had a smile and was very attentive to guests. Moshae was our Safari guide and knew so much about the animals and many other species located in Kruger. This lodge is located about 2.5 hours from the gate. The food was superb! Drinks very good and the food options were plentiful. They offered meats and also vegetarian options.

The pool and relaxing deck area had great animal viewing opportunity. We saw a hyena at dinner every night, elephant came all the way up to the deck and there were Cape Buffalo.

The safari vehicles are so comfortable and equipped with everything including blankets. Sundowner drinks were a lovely touch at sunset. Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant stay

Hi Waterchen - Thanks for your questions... 1.) How do we get to hoyo hoyo resorts, if we alight at Johannesburg airport? Do we take a domestic flight to Hoedspruit airport? I would suggest a domestic flight to either Hoedspruit or Skukuza it is a lot less travel time as JHB to the lodge normally takes 7 hours for travellers who do not know the way. 2.) entrance fee is one time payment or each time visiting the Kruger Park we have to pay since there are more than 1 game drive – Gate fees are a once off charge they do not have to be paid each time a guest goes on game drive. 3.) dinner / lunch / breakfast is buffet style or ala carte choice? Breakfast and lunch are typically buffet styles although this may have changed to a “set menu” with 2 options per course by December 4) what is the weather like in December ?:) December can be extremely hot and humid, also this is part of our rainy season so one can expect the occasional thunderstorms.

Hi dehrentreu - Thank you for reaching out to us. To answer your question about travelling between Hoyo Hoyo and Savanna, please see directions below: It will take about 3 ½ hours’ drive from Hoyo Hoyo through the Kruger National Park to Savannah. The guests leave Hoyo Hoyo and proceed via the internal Kruger National Park road system passing Skukuza camp then onto the exit road leaving the Kruger National Park via the Paul Kruger Gate. From there they must follow the directions below: • You reach Kruger Gate. Go through and exit Kruger National Park • Drive for 7.5 km to Newington turn-off and turn right onto the gravel road. • Approximately 9.1 km later you reach a cross-roads - turn right here • After 1.8 km turn left at T-junction • Drive 0.6 km and turn left • After 1.1 km you will arrive at gate (you will need to pay an entrance fee to enter – Go through and keep to the left • After only 400 m, turn left at the Savanna sign, just after leaving the fence line. • Just under 1 km, arrive at Savanna Lodge.
