What a spectacular guest house. Totally unexpected, beautiful house and stunning gardens. Well located - Close to Durban's business district and main roads. We were really well taken care of and they provided us a lovely packed lunch to take with us.

A charming property located on the hillside, with the view from the balcony of the room over Durban CBD, while the terrace where the breakfast is served has a nice view over the ocean. The check-in was easy and efficient, the room was clean and welcoming. Adapter from SA to EU socket was provided, as was the hairdryer. There was a well-compiled catalogue of all the best places in town, we used that recommendation to visit a restaurant on Florida road - and we were not disappointed. Popped into an honesty bar for a glass of wine and a short chat with the owner and other guests, the owner does put a lot of effort into this property and he does find time to talk to each and every guest...which is far cry from the modern / chain hotels We slept well, the AC worked like a charm. The breakfast was delicious, with extended offer of diary products and fruit. We really liked it. The only thing that didn't quite work was WiFi - however, we didn't really use it anyways...

I’ve stayed here twice now, 5 years apart. Both times I’ve loved the decor, the ambience and the service. I feel like anyone who comes to Durban and doesn’t stay here is missing out. It’s a little run down but it ties in with the colonial feel and is more than made up for with the joy of the surroundings.

We spent only one night and wished we had more time to spend in this charming guesthouse. A collection of old houses, beautifully furnished with antiques, shaded veranda, in a tropical garden. A taste of old Durban!

Stayed here for an overnight stay on way up to Elephant Coast. The B&B is well presented and loved the ‘English Pub’ and honesty bar - great idea. The staff seemed helpful - but there are lots of stairs! It didn’t bother us but it could be a problem for some. The area isn’t particularly conveniently located if you want to walk out to find a restaurant so we had to get Ubers. The biggest problem was that there was no power at all for most of the time we were there in our part of the hotel. Other parts of the hotel did seem to have power. This might be a ‘load shedding’ issue but it meant having no air con in our room and therefore no sleep.

We are equipped to deal with Load-Shedding. Unfortunately, in this instance our whole street was without power due to cable fault, and out of our control. A section of the Guest Lodge did have power as it is on a separate grid. I do regret your inconvenience in this situation. Kind regards, Leanne

Great place to chill out before or after a safari. Great breakfast on the balcony and lovely 'old world' rooms. Nice Indian restaurant just down the road and great sea views. We will be going back to Goble Palms!
