We were the only people in the whole hotel for 3 days due to the Corona Virus panic. The staff were very friendly. The spa treatment was VERY disappointing, due to the dirty towels, robes & slippers we were issued with before the treatment began. The change/shower room was also not very clean. Considering the rates for the massages, as well as the Corona virus situation, one should think that everything will be washed & cleaned with special care.

Dear Theresa, We trust that you are well! Thank you so much for taking the time to rate & review your recent experience with us, your compliments on our friendly team are highly appreciated. We also appreciate you providing us with honest feedback regarding the treatments and rooms. Our general manager confirmed that during this time, seeing that there weren't many in-house guests, training and cleaning formed part of the team's every day activities. In both the bathrooms and parts of the spa there are darker tiles and although these are cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis, it has been mistaken in the past as being "filthy", which is in fact not the case. We do however thank you for notifying us about the condition of the towels, slippers and robes. Honest feedback from our guests is invaluable to us and assists us to improve the overall guest experience for future guests. Although we understand you do have mixed feelings after your recent visit, we do hope that you will consider visiting us once again to find everything to your preference. Kind regards The Legend Team

We stayed here for a few days whilst exploring Plettenberg Bay area, hiring a car for some of the time. Without a car, you would find that the hotel is a little out of town.
The accommodation was reasonable, in individual buildings on the site, rather than one large building, each with a bedroom, separate bathroom, TV & fridge.
On the site was a good restaurant whose speciality was their selection of local and international gins. The local ones were worth tasting, as their ingredients were a little different to the norm.
The breakfasts provided a reasonable selection of hot and cold alternatives and the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.
The view of the Bay from the bar was stunning.

Welcome: Lackluster welcome by reception, asked to sign, given keys and then told to drive to room.

Room: They have tried to update the rooms with a neutral palette and lovely art, but they fall short with the finish. The toilet seat was painted with paint rather than just replaced with a new one. The shower door didn’t close and there was quite a bit of mold at the bottom. We had a leak outside our door, so there was always a puddle outside the room we had to step over. Nice veranda with a lovely view. No phone in the room to call reception about any issues and it's so far from the room you can’t pop there to ask anything.

Location: Not really in Plett so you have to drive for the beach / to go out for dinner.

Breakfast: Was good. Some staff were very helpful and friendly. Others looked you up and down and just ignored you. Nice selection of jams and hot food.

Would not stay again as staff made us feel unwelcome and the finish of the room was too rough. Okay for budget accommodation if you can’t find anything else.

My husband and I enjoyed the Hotel very much. The staff are superb and go out of their way to make your experience unforgettable. A personal touch makes it feel like home away from home! The food is outstanding and the Chef personally came to take our orders and make suggestions. Gin tasting is an absolute must. The General Manager is well trained, friendly and very chatty. Andries and Thandi excellent service and couldn’t do enough for us. Personalized postcards were left in our room for both Christmas and Condolences due the lost of a close family member. We wanted to extend our stay and were sad to leave. Clean rooms, comfy beds and excellent views. Close to town and very friendly. If you are looking to book, look now further you will be pleasantly surprised.

We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent service that we received from everyone at this hotel during our stay. The rooms are spacious, albeit not very modern at all, although the soft furnishings and interior decor are up-to-date. The TV reception is atrocious! However, we were told by the GM that they are in the process of upgrading the rooms (bathrooms to be re-tiled,etc) and Multichoice had already given a quote as far as the TV reception, etc is concerned.

My family and had a two day stay over at Whalesong between 26-27 Dec 2020. Our stop over was on route to our next holiday destination and didn’t have much expectations. To say we were blown away from the minute we arrived is an understatement. The hotel staff treated us like royalty, accommodating every whim and the world class chefs in the kitchen made us wish we had stayed longer.

I hope every visitor has the same superb experience and want to publicly praise the management and team of Whalesong Hotel & Spa for their World class service.

We spent 8 nights at Whalesong and really enjoyed every moment! Petrus and his team were so welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely and clean and had a beautiful sea view. Breakfast was fantastic every morning and we greatly appreciated the evening turn down service, which included chocolates and a card on Christmas. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Plett!

We stayed for 90 minutes, of a 3 night stay. 50+ rooms but absolutely no staff in whole complex - just one aged gate guard with our room key. A company rep turned up, apologised saying no-one else had booked so no staff. He offered to help us find other accommodation - we did and now cannot get refund from them and Agoda who sold the property 'cannot' / will not assist.

We chose the Whalesong Hotel and Spa to host our second successful family wedding!

The spacious, clustered rooms with 24 hour security made it easy to group family and friends together.

Breathtaking views of the bay and Robberg with it’s hiking trails make for a beautiful setting.

The 5* food was served by friendly and efficient staff.

We highly recommend this incredible jewel on the Garden Route to each and every one looking forward to a peaceful and stress-free stay.

We had a three-night stay at Whalesong Hotel & Spa as a family. The GM, Petrus was extremely hospitable and attentive. The breakfast was scrumptious (in spite of loadshedding interruptions) and the view from the restaurant over the bay is spectacular. This hotel is a great base to explore the surrounding area with plenty to see and do. We will be back.
