Nestled conveniently within walking distance of downtown attractions, the Crowne Plaza Resort Phoenix - Chandler Golf Resort garners appreciation for its prime location surrounded by shops and restaurants. While the hotel's cleanliness and charming, historic ambiance consistently receive commendations, opinions on value diverge, with some guests finding it a bargain and others questioning the cost versus quality.
The service is generally applauded for its cordiality and efficiency, although a few guests have encountered service hiccups. Amenities, especially the comfy bedding and dining options, are popular, but some feel the rooms could benefit from a refresh.

The hotel has the ideal location for being downtown. My family lives nearby which is what drew us to Chandler in the first place. Everyone met us at the hotel during our trip, to either go out to dinner or come hang out by the pool with us. The hotel lobby and bar are very charming, and the breakfast restaurant is good. The pool has a nice atmosphere even if there are kids playing you can sit away from the pool noise. There is sometimes bar service at the pool, or you can take the short walk to the lobby bar for drinks too. The courtyard with cornhole games and fire pits is a really nice spot to hang out in- they’ve kept the resort feel intended when built over 100 years ago. That being said, they’re feeling the pinch of the labor shortage and likely post-COVID $ shortages, so the cleaning staff seems stretched thin (no room cleaning service over a 3 night stay), pool bar rarely staffed, and you can plainly see all the maintenance work the buildings with the rooms so desperately need. But they have nice touches like a little market in the lobby, quality shampoo, conditioner and lotions in the room, the lobby always smells good and has great furnishings. And the staff are SUPER HELPFUL and gracious at every turn. They’re trying to keep it up- and you can see that. We loved our 3 nights there.

This resort may not be for everyone, but we like it here. Downtown Chandler is walking distance away with shops and restaurants. The resort has and is not afraid to spend the money to continually upgrade the grounds. The rooms are comfortable, a little dated, but the hotel provides amenities like a minifrig, bottled water, K-cup coffee maker and coffee. Complimentary coffee is available at the restaurant every morning. The lounge doesn't have a happy hour but the menu appetizers are sufficient for a meal. I'd like to see the hotel switch from satellite to cable TV, because the satellite TV is not reliable with occasional loss of signal even in clear weather.

This Crown Plaza is a historic hotel located right in downtown Chandler within walking distance of quite a few excellent restaurants and bars. The hotel is a bit dated and the closest elevator to our room (east) was out of order. We were a bit disappointed with the location of our room (212). The front desk person said it overlooked the pool, but it does not. The front door faces a solid wall and the pool is around the corner about 20 yards away. The room is over the first floor gym which was noisy in the early morning. The patio faced a lovely courtyard but as the glass table was cracked, we did not use it much. Otherwise, the room was spacious and clean. We were not told that room service is provided only every 3rd day, so we did not hang our towels to dry, but when we called the front desk in the evening, they quickly brought up more towels. There were barking dogs in another room, but they were quiet by the end of the evening. The breakfast cafe staff was efficient and the food was good. The pool looked nice, but it was full of families and boisterous folks, so we passed on this. The bar staff was excellent and checked on us often. Yes, the hotel could use some upgrades, but considering the times we live in, overall, it was a nice stay.

This property is so beautiful for the most part. They are renovating the rooms which are nice now. The only area that needs tlc is the stairwells, elevators and walkways in front of rooms. But it’s worth it just for the location. The food at the restaurant is amazing! You’ll love all the nearby shops and restaurants.

I love the spacious room with king size bed. I also like the big pool and the breakfast they have. It is a place where you can relax after you have a long day at work when you are on business travel. The only issue was that the compressor of the air conditioner made huge noise when it was working. Hope it can be fix before my next visit. The location is right aside of several good restaurants, you basically don't have to worry about what to eat.

Positives
The staff were lovely
The lobby/reception/bar area was newly renovated and beautiful
The bedrooms were also newly renovated and well appointed, it was so refreshing to have balconies with all the rooms
Nice tropical style pool area, very well maintained and cleaned on a daily basis.
Right in the heart of downtown Chandler which is great to be able to walk to the numerous restaurants surrounding it, but it also comes with an element of noise as a consequence
Negatives
The rooms were not being cleaned daily, on our 4 night stay our room was only cleaned once.
The exterior walkways, stair areas and balconies looked very grim and uninviting and don’t go with the rest of the hotel interior which has been recently renovated
Staff not answering phones
There was a lot of inappropriate behaviour by children in the pool area, like jumping off the fountain area into the pool, dive bombing and pushing each other in. As their parents seemed unable or unwilling to control them the hotel should have stepped in to avoid spoiling the pool experience for other guests.

The location is premier to downtown Chandler which has wonderful amenities (bars, restaurants, shopping, comedy clubs, movie theater, etc.). The lobby bar is also lively and comfortable with an outstanding bartender named Marie. We came in the second night and she remembered out drinks from the night before even though we had only ordered one drink the day prior. Our check in was great with the clerk asking which floor we would like to be on, and was friendly. The history surrounding the hotel is interesting and the downstairs speak easy bar is pretty cool too.
Sadly, that is where the positives end. The room although large had seen better days. Black large stains on the carpet, popcorn ceilings, holes in the curtains, thin bedding, in need of a renovation. We left the following day at 11 PM and didn't return until 6 PM and nobody came from housekeeping despite us having a sign requesting it. We called down and notified the desk and asked for a new set of towels. They didn't show up so an hour later at 7 we called down again and they finally arrived putting us in a rush for 8 o'clock dinner reservations. The outside walkways had food/drinks spills the entire 3 days we were there which you had to navigate around as it was very sticky.
We ate breakfast on site and although the food was great everyone from the hostess to the servers had negative attitudes and were mumbling and grumbling about customers just requesting basic service (and it wasn't busy). After we ordered we didn't see our server again until the check was brought an hour later.
On a side note, Crust is a restaurant on the property (not owned by the hotel) and the food was amazing.
We are locals and enjoy spending the weekends downtown from a walkable location. We started out really liking this property but it quickly soured on us and we plan to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn next time we are in the area. This place could be improved so much and has potential but sadly seems to have already seen its glory days...

Bed was good, had to call and ask them to bring me a microwave, which was unusual, but they brought it to me within 45 minutes. Also, of note, they do not have washers/dryers so be aware. Other than that it was a good stay. Friendly staff, AJ's has good food, and it's in an awesome location.

I had not asked for it nor am I in a positon to need one, but got a huge room which was suited for handicapped citizens. The bed was superb sleep hygiene wise.Although it had a connecting door to the adjacent room one could not hear the neighbors too loudly or that it would disturb the own well being. Got a very nice treatment at the reception and two free drink vouchers. In my opinion a great value for the money ratio. Of course depending on when you book. Mine was excellent.

I was going to stay with friends but plans changed. I was the one who reserved the room so I submitted payment authorization so my friends could keep our rate and she would just pay me directly. I spent an entire day trying to get confirmation of receipt. I was put on hold 5 different times for up to 30 minutes at a time. I never got confirmation so my friend said she would just use her card so she changed the reservation to add her card to it. I checked my account and my card has been charged. What are you all doing?

They are only renovating bathrooms - the bedroom areas are still old. There is construction debris all over. After you pay and check in they tell you that construction may start as earlier as 9am. It started at 8a. Read my review. Worst experience we’ve ever had. Wouldn’t stay there for free.
Sorry for not coming back sooner. I just had a one night stay and did not use the facilities.
Yes, we have a hot tub.
