A must place to stay. Pete was as gracious as you could ever hope for. Great place. Clean. Everything you need. Nice touch was Hot chocolate and apple cider drink mix for those of us who don't drink tea or coffee. Pete even helped us do some repairs on one of our motorcycles

Very clean rooms! Nice amenities with the fridge, microwave and Keuerig coffee maker. Staff is so friendly and kind. Bathroom was spacious and clean as well. Good water pressure. The dog that lives at the lodge was so sweet! We had a fantastic stay!

The owner's Pete and Heidi were very welcoming and wonderful! Their dog, Bigley, will greet you at the property and is a very friendly and sweet dog, I had my senior dog with me, and both of the owners made sure that she was comfortable for the night by providing her with a bed! The room was simple and immaculate! The owners also provide coffee and hot chocolate in the room. The feeling was very homey, and I loved it! The location along the Glenn is beautiful, make sure to take a walk out back to the lake. I highly recommend this as a great place to stay when traveling the beautiful Glenn Highway!

Chose this place to stay a bit by accident and because they accepted our 7 pound dog, but found it to be a wonderful surprise. Check in was friendly, the room spotless, bed comfortable, large private bathroom with good pressure in the shower, coffee pot, refrigerator and microwave and good internet. There is a one channel TV but the show is the nature surrounding the small lodge. There are 4 rooms with private baths and a table and a couple of chairs to sit and look out the window. So enjoyed the quiet and comfort and would definitely stay again.

This is an overdue review. My husband, dog & I moved to Alaska in April 2017, & since we were traveling with a dog we planned ahead with reservations at dog-friendly motels each night. We had reservations at a motel that said on their website that they allow dogs; my husband called 5 days before our stay to double-check that & they again said yes, they allow dogs. Well, it turned out they had stopped allowing dogs 27 days earlier, no exceptions! (And the clerk was rude about it, to boot.) I was exhausted & was afraid we wouldn't find another motel that would allow dogs until the Palmer area, or maybe even Anchorage. But I got on Google & found the Nelchina Lodge; when I called to ask if they allow dogs, the woman who answered said, "We love dogs!" We were so happy the other motel, which had bad reviews but we thought was our only option for that area, turned us away, because we loved the Nelchina Lodge! My dog & I had a relaxing walk with beautiful scenery behind the lodge, & the room was clean, comfortable, & stocked with a coffeemaker, coffee, a microwave & popcorn. We stayed in the motel part, not the cabins, because we wanted an en suite bathroom. (Note: the bathroom did not have shampoo & soap, but I always travel with those things, so it was not a problem.) The owner was very nice & we enjoyed chatting with him. He asked if our dog liked other dogs & when I said yes, he let his dog out to play with her. There is a diner only about 15 minutes away with delicious food, large portions, and reasonable (for Alaska) prices. This place is NOT fancy; if you want fancy, what are you doing in this part of the world in the first place? I gave it 5 stars because it's a great place to stay while you're on an Alaska adventure!

Nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable. The owners are very nice and the resident dog is friendly too. It could use a bit of updating, but for the price you cant beat it. In our room there was an older tube tv and one channel to watch. We were pretty tired and mainly there to sleep so it didn't matter much but thought it should be noted.

If you travel around the Alaska, make sure that you will spend at least couple days in Nelchina Lodge. Accommodatin is beautiful, super clean and you have there everything you need :-) You can cook on open fire or use BBQ outside...Nature all around is just amazing and the owner...we do not have enough words to explain how awesome man he is...he helped us with everything...we loved our conversations...he has a big heart! Thank you for the real Alaskan experience and we hope that we will come back one day :-)

A good safe place that is clean and comfortable but not fancy. My wife and I stayed in the motel/lodge instead of the cabins which would have required a walk to the lodge for a bath facility. Every thing was comfortable. We had a microwave, coffee machine, refrig, etc. There are a couple of restaurants about 15 minutes up toward Palmer. The owner even offered to grill us some salmon or moose at no charge which we declined as we had already eaten. I wish I had taken him up on the offer of a campfire after I found he and I agreed politically . Stay here, you won't be sorry.

My wife and I drove from Oklahoma to Alaska for our 5th anniversary. Along the drive we had pushed as hard as we could every day and then found a campsite or affordable hotel (budget is a big deal for us as she is just out of college and I am in a grad program). It was getting late in the evening and we were extremely tired when we stopped to camp, but the campsite was full. We feared we would have to drive until 3am to reach Anchorage for lodgings when all of a sudden we noticed Nelchina Lodge and the sign showed they had vacancies. We almost passed it, but I am glad we stopped and went back as the manager, Pete, is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. He gave us the warmest welcome as he showed us to our room. The rooms are very basic, but they are clean and extremely comfortable providing all that you need to have a pleasant night's rest. I would gladly stay here again and will recommend it to anyone driving the Alaska highway. If you are starting out in Watson Lake, YT this is about as far as one would want to drive in a single day and from Whitehorse, YT it would get you close to Anchorage without having to kill yourself driving too hard in a single day.
