The first thing that struck us about Aitutaki Village was the location and after spending some time touring the entire the Island - we can safely say that this property is undoubtedly located in the best location on the Island.
We appreciate the personal service from the owners Liz and Thomas - but all the staff were efficient as well as simply delightful.
The accommodation was simple cabin style villas (only 12 villas on site) but beautifully presented, clean and quiet.
The food offered at the onsite restaurant was fantastic. We ate dinner there twice and lunch once. The bar offered lots of choice with wine, cocktails and juices.
The best part of the stay was sitting in the restaurant (right on the water) drinking a cocktail while fish leaped out of the water and crabs ventured out of their shelves. We could of sat there for hours watching the water and admiring the Lagoon.
We traveled with our three children (ages 11,16 and 19) This required two cabins, one for the kids and one for us. Aitutaki village was one of the only places on the Island that let Children stay on site.
Aitutaki Village also had free use of the Stand Up Paddle boards and Kayaks which we used daily.
We highly recommend the Lagoon Tour with Bishop Cruises. This was one of the highlights of the trip. It is worth every cent.
Over all we were delighted with our time at Aitutaki Village.

As soon as we arrived in Aitutaki we knew this holiday was going to be special. We booked to fly to Aitutaki the day before from staying on Rarotonga as we were not going to miss a stay in beautiful Aitutaki, Sitting at the airport we made a phone call to Thomas and Lizzie and were instantly welcomed and had our accommodation secured. We were greeted with a friendly beautiful smile by Lizzie and welcomed like we belonged by the staff at Samade on The Beach. The hosts Thomas and Lizzie put us up in a room which was perfect and gave us a beautiful cocktail to welcome us. The accommodation was perfect the room was lovely and was air conditioned. We hired a bike to get around the Island and this was organised by our beautiful hosts. Everything was so convenient a level walk to everything. The swimming was clear and beautiful so enjoyable and the meals we had every night in the lovely restaurant looking over the water with a lovely variety of scrumptious meals. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel warm welcomed and cared for. We went on a day cruise with Bishops Cruises with Kimi the Captain who made it fun to one foot Island where we had a delicious lunch. The boat crew were very friendly and we snorkeled for a large part of the day with a 'When I get hungry we will have lunch" a very relaxed day was beautiful. It was very hard to leave this Island but we will be back and looking very much forward to having this beautiful breathtaking holiday once again Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a truly unforgettable holiday. We leave our tick of approval for Samade on the Beach after you read this put Samade on The Beach on your to do List before you leave this earth. Kerrie Hamilton and James Marsters

Before we came to Samade we jumped on Tripadvisor and signed up for this resort due to all the raving reviews. What we experienced was more than what was written in terms of service, food, laughs, unwinding, paradisaic conditions and the best staff a resort could ever hope to have. Thomas, Liz and Elaine and all the staff helped us to enjoy this trip three times over. We arrived for our honeymoon and stayed 14 nights in Room 10 near the rear. It was an absolute blast. Kimi, who leads on Bishop Cruises is a guy you want to get to know. The Island night was fantastic and mostly everyone got up to have a good time wiggling their bums and filling their lungs with laughter. The food was outstanding. My wife Rita was hooked on the salad because Thomas has this amazing dressing. I had lamb shanks and i fully recommend to have it at least twice for a short visit and many times more if you stay longer. Nothing...absolutely nothing beats walking out a hundred meters from your cabin to dipping into this ultra glorious lagoon whether its the morning, midday or late arvo. Take your complimentary kyac for a spin...you will not regret it. Thomas and Liz are such a wonderful couple because they create a truly welcoming atmosphere that is as close to family as you can get. We consider them and all the staff 'Our Family of Samade'. The yoghurt in the morning is a great start. Best coffee on the Island is 200 meters away. Scooter hire is 300 meters away. I recommend hiring a scooter for your entire time at Samade to have it on the go for whenever you please. We stayed mid September - early October. We are saving to get back already. The rooms were clean as a whistle. Rooster sounds were acceptable. Water pressure for shower was great. This place does not and will not ever fail to drop your jaw and for you to express a massive WOW!!

We were lucky to be able to stay at Samade on the Beach a couple of weeks ago. This was my first time in Aitutaki after living in Rarotonga for almost 4 years. Samade is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy paradise. The rooms are clean and comfortable with air con and fan if you wish. Ours had a pretty garden outlook but was only a minutes walk from the beach and restaurant. The complimentary breakfast was lovely with more than I expected choice wise. The restaurant and bar was open from early to late and on the night we chose to dine in...and we're late getting there, the staff were amazing, both friendly and professional and the food was good although we over ordered...big servings :) I think Samade is on one of the best spots on the whole island with views you just would not believe until you experience them. A bonus was the deck chairs under the palm trees with views to die for and the use of the complimentary paddle boards and kayaks. Thank you Thomas and staff for a fabulous unforgettable holiday, we will most definately be back.

We have just arrived back in NZ today after spending 4 nights at the Samade and would recommend it to anyone. Not only were we located in the most beautiful part of the world, we were welcomed and treated like family by everyone at the Samade. Liz and Thomas both took the time to spend time with everyone and it made it all the more special. The rooms had everything we needed, the bed was great and the air con made a big difference on the hot nights. The food was lovely, especially the fish burger! We also loved the Bishops Lagoon Cruise and the Island Night. The only thing I would have asked for was some basic items for sale, such as sun block and to have snorkeling gear and reef shoes available for guests to use.
Thanks so much to you both and your wonderful team for sharing your paradise with us and for your awesome hospitality. Metin and Rachel

We have just returned from Aitutaki and had the most wonderful time.
We were met by Elaine at the airport for the five minute drive to the resort. Don't be put off that this resort is so close to the airport.
The accommodation is not the best and is somewhat tired and dated but what it lacks in luxury is more than made up by the location and the staff.
The resort is under new management and at the time we stayed a new floor was being put down in the bar and Thomas, the owner, was very apologetic that we had to have our meals out on the beach under the palm trees for one day. Oh dear what a shame!!! Absolutely not, people pay a fortune to do this and we did suggest that he continue to do so but he was not convinced!
The breakfast of beautiful fresh fruit, pancakes and toast was more than adequate.
The menu did not have much choice but what we had was delicious though if you stayed for more than three nights you would be bored with it.
The bbq night was a disappointment as it was not a bbq and all cooked in the kitchen but still good just not what we expected for a bbq and there was no entertainment.
The location is really beautiful and we thought the best on the island. The lagoon is calm and lovely to swim in with lots of fish to be seen.
We did the lagoon cruise with Bishops and I could not speak highly enough of this wonderful day, one of the best days of my life. I thought the Great Barrier Reef was good but this was so much better, Warm, calm water, so many fish, huge calms, turtles and feeding the huge trevally - George with the big lips.
As it was Christmas holiday time all the cars were rented out to locals and so our only option if we wanted to see the island was a moped hired from the Boat Shed down the road. My husband has not been on a motorbike for more than 40 years and after a wobbly start we really enjoyed our day and saw all the island. I would suggest booking a car before you get there if you go at peak times.
A really wonderful stay with some of the friendliest people I have ever met.

Aitutaki is one of those places you never want to leave, made all the better by Samade's location and staff. You start the trip to Aitutaki with a 50 minute flight culminating in flying right over the lagoon giving you a view of what is to come, the thing you have been dreaming of. Met at the airport by a smiling Elaine who instantly makes you feel comfortable and at home. We spent 8 nights there in late October. The rooms are clean, there are new towels including beach towels for use and the Kayaks (single and doubles) were also new. Spectacular view of the most beautiful lagoon from the bar/restaurant area which is a short distance from the rooms. Rooms are very clean, air con works well, plenty of hot water and good mosquito screens, serviced daily except Sundays. Coffee and tea making facilities with bar fridge in the room. Staff are very helpful, friendly and always smiling. We were lucky enough to get in 2 of the feast nights held on Tuesdays plus a bar-b-q on Sunday. No dogs on Aitutaki which instantly cut the noise levels of Raro by half. Lots of chooks.

We chose to walk up to the nearby bike hire but Samade would have organised it for us.You will need to hire a scooter or a car to get around as there is no public transport and cycling looked hard work in the wind along the airport straight. There is no real snorkeling at Samade, just beautiful, clear water and beach however there is a good snorkeling spot with beach a short ride away at the end of the airport straight. This is totally enclosed by reef, safe and always has plenty of depth of water. Not a great variety of fish or coral and lots of sea cucumbers. The water was always warm.

We organised tours through Samade, the cultural tour which was very interesting and included a fantastic tasting lunch of only local foods. We also did the Bishop's lagoon cruise which was a fun and friendly day although the day we picked turned out very windy so snorkeling was limited. The lunch on One Foot Island was fantastic, alcohol was available, beach towels provided and the "Captains" so entertaining. Because of the less than perfect weather there weren't so many people but this just made it better, we made some wonderful friends.

We hope to get back to Aitutaki and Samade. I was nervous that we'd be bored with 8 nights there but by the end felt sorry for those who chose to spend more time in Raro.

I shouldn't say this or recommend Samade but!
What a drop dead stunning location and superb resort.
Friendliest, most helpful staff, though Lonely's memory isn't the greatest. (we made up)
Fantastic cook. Best barman ever, thanks Ned.
Ran out of bacon one day but never out of beer or wine.
Bed squeaked a bit.
Man I am a winger and don't even come from Aussy.
I would put Aitutaki at the top of my vacation list and Samade second to none.
If you are looking for 5 star and stuffiness find somewhere else.
If you want the friendliest, most relaxing laid back holiday go to Samade.
I am already planning my next visit's

I made a reservation for the island night show (including dinner) as a single traveller (single table just for me). As I had severe health problems that evening, I cancelled my reservation in the afternoon.
Although I have not been informed upfront about any cancellation fee for a dinner reservation (which is normally free of charge worldwide), they charged me a cancellation fee of 35 NSD !!! AND after this, I figured out that they even gave the table to a group of people who all paid again full price each. So Aitutaki Village restaurant and hotel did not just gain the cancellation fee they charged me illegally, they also got the full price for times from the people who got the table instead of me because I had to go to hospital. What a shame !!! Do NOT go there!!! These people are aweful and just want your money!!!

We went to Aitutaki for our honeymoon and chose AV because it is on Ootu Beach, which is said to be to best swimming beach, and this is definitely true - you can swim even when the tide is out and this isn't the case elsewhere. It's also sandy bottom, so no need to worry about corals, etc. We had complimentary airport pick up and the staff were generally helpful and friendly, especially the manager, Tania. The villas themselves are a good size, with kitchenette, insect screening and air conditioning. I found the bed a bit hard, but that's my only complaint. You can borrow snorkel gear, use the kayaks and there are relaxing beach loungers right on the beach front. The included continental breakfast wasn't great, but it was enough to sustain you. We ate dinner at AV our first night and it was OK, but we also attended the island night and the buffet dinner was great and the entertainment excellent. We went to other island nights and I preferred this one as it seemed more authentic and you are told the story of Aitutaki, which was great. The cruise companies for trips out to the Lagoon are at Ootu Beach and there is a cafe, Koru Cafe, just a short walk down the road and it is excellent. The Boatshed is a bit further on, but we weren't very impressed with their dinner. Overall, highly recommend AV and would definitely return.

Only a couple of flights per day so not an issue at all. We’ve been to Aitutaki four times and never once had an issue with a flight. Seriously, it’s paradise on earth. My wife tells me not to tell people this as she’s scared it will become overcrowded one day! Go there - you’ll adore it!

Koru Cafe is open only for breakfast and lunch but it's much better than Boatshed. They can also make meals for you that you just need to heat up if you give them 24 hrs notice. There are no markets nearby.

They have kayaks you can use at Aitutaki village so no need to rent them. I recommend renting a scooter if you want to go to the other side of the island. Aitutaki village is located just past the airport where there are a few great restraints but if you want to go check out the island a scooter is a must and super fun :)

They can store your valuables at the reception but as prior mentioned, I wouldn't worry as it's very safe. We left all in the bungalow and didn't had any issues. Enjoy paradise and go to one foot island!!
