What a fabulous find Ranginui's is.. For what others are paying astronomical prices for straight across the lagoon..Ranginui's offers exactly the same view and stunning location at a fraction of the cost. Tidy, comfortable rooms at the back if your on a budget (Room 4 has a perfect view of the lagoon) or for slightly more a beach front bungalow..you can't go wrong.. They offer a summing pool, use of a BBQ..daily linen change and lovely shower.. and fresh water, Kayak & board use..Bike Hire & all walking distance from every other bar and restaurant around Ootu Beach. Thanks for sharing such a fab spot with everybody..

This set of bungalows are perfectly situated on Ootu Beach where it is possible to swim at the beach and almost see the sunset. The accommodation is modest but so is the price. Steve, the landlord, is in general very helpful with respect to the needs you may have, and was able to help me out, renting one of his scooters on very short notice. One thing that I did not find so attractive is the toilet facilities - it is not the ordinary flushing-out toilet that one is used to, but is a so-called nature loo (whatever that means). For the first nights all was fine, but on the 4. day when I lifted the lid, a whole pack of banana flies came out, which I found very uncomfortable (considering where they were coming from). The landlord did apologize for this and fixed it; and lend me a insect spray ( but not a new bottle?!) to clear out any remaining flies. Still, I was not really able to forget that it had happened...

We rented two automatic scooters and they were modern and well maintained. They were quick starting and very smooth to handle. It was much better than riding a bicycle. They had good gas mileage and was well worth the money. One other thing to note is in Aitutaki, you will need a scooter driver’s license; which is purchased at the police station for a very small fee.

My husband and I planned to stay here for two nights on our visit to the Cook Islands, we extended our stay for 7days. The accommodations are simple, not over priced and in a perfect location. The lagoon is out side your front door, multiful places to eat are in walking distance. My husband is a sport fisherman he enjoyed Bone fishing, We rented a scooter and explored the Island. If your looking for a truely quiet, non tourist invaded island experience this is the place. We loved it.

Stayed with Ranginuis Retreat 3 years ago and was happy to return. Got a cottage eith air conditioning and loved it. Fantastic view right outside your door. People across the lagoon were paying 3 times more than us. Very simple clean accommodations and the Lagoon cruise was included in our package. You should not miss the lagoon cruise....it was the highlight of our trip! Loved the people and the great proximity to a few restaurants and we rented a car from our host as well.
