We really loved our stay at Tai Marino Bungalow No.2. Right from the start the communication was great and throughout our stay the owners were extremely helpful and friendly.
The bungalow was clean and functional with a beautiful view of the lagoon. We didn't need the air conditioning as there are insect screens throughout so we opened everything and enjoyed the lovely breeze. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water, a good size fridge and a small gas cooktop.
From the verandah it is only a few metres to the lagoon where there is a deep channel for swimming. The snorkeling was not the best directly out the front, but only 100m up the beach was great snorkeling with plenty of fish, some nice patches of coral and a few beautiful clams.
We were glad we rented a car because it was a bit rainy during our stay so we could go out and enjoy some nice meals and have a look around in comfort.
There is a fantastic view of the lagoon from the nearby phone tower. The track to the top has one very steep section but otherwise is not too hard.
We did a lagoon tour with Kia Orana. Our skipper was Saun (Captain Useless) and he was very good, not useless at all !! The wind was quite strong so the snorkeling was a bit choppy but still awesome to swim with the GTs. The white boat skipperd by Saun had excellent access on and off even in the bumpy conditions so we would definately recommend going with him.
We stayed for four nights at Tai Marino and could have done another one or two as we had two days of rain. If you want a quiet beachside getaway then Tai Marino is perfect!

Vaea is a fantastic host! She will take you around the island to show you where to get your food & beverage supplies from, eateries & wi-fi for your cellphone(if you need it), however as we've visited Aitutaki before we were happy to take ourselves. She will organize transport for you, scooters in our case, which were sitting outside our bungalow upon arrival. She also arranged for me to have a massage during our stay, on our deck at our bungalow. To'u worked her magic to ease my work stresses away. So grateful Vaea organized this for me.
The bungalow is spotlessly clean, has basically everything you need & the kitchenette has all the basics for indoor cooking. We were thankful for the insect screens over the door and windows, there's air con but we only required use of the ceiling fan. So nice to feel the warm, gentle ocean breeze through the room. The spacious deck has a comfortable day bed, outdoor table & chairs with million dollar views over the lagoon. Great for sunsets.
You're literally steps away from the lagoon & one of the best swimming holes on the island. I say hole because you can literally dive off the sand into deep water here, approximately 3m depending on the tide. Hubby enjoyed kayaking in the morning & taking a dip before breakfast. Whilst I enjoyed the hammock & gently swinging in the breeze, book in hand before taking a swim. The loungers got good use as well. Snorkel & masks are available here.
We loved the location of Tai Marino. We found it to be quiet & passing traffic was not an issue. It's centrally located for supermarkets, basic shopping, cafes & resorts. It's a fantastic place to stay & we look forward to doing the lagoon cruise when next we visit.

To say that Tai Marino is paradise found is an understatement. Tai Marino is the loveliest place we have ever stayed, and we have travel extensively throughout the South Pacific.
It's not just the glorious location right on the beach where you watch the sun set and witness the clouds turn luscious pink with the sun rise or the warm gorgeous lagoon that welcomes you to explore. And yes, the bungalow is perfectly appointed with everything you would need and clean as can be. The gardens are beautiful and offer spaces to rest.
The crowning jewels of Tai Marino are its owners, Vae and Kii Maoate. We felt so cared for and welcomed. From Vae picking us up at the airport with leis to Kii's phenomenal lagoon tour and picnic, every detail was thought out and on point. Every question we had was answered with warmth and attention. I have never met a couple that works as hard as they do to ensure that one's stay is flawless. They are simply amazing and lovely.
So, would I recommend Tai Marino? I think you know the answer. If you are heading to Aitutaki, it is a must.

I can't speak highly enough about Tai Marino. Our host Vaea picked us up from the airport and showed us around the island and organised a scooter for me. The accommodation is superb!! Right on the beach with an indoor shower (water pressure is amazing) and also an outdoor shower for after the beach.
Deck chairs are on the beach and there is a two-person kayak for use. Breakfast is cereal and fresh island fruit.
I would so come back here in a heartbeat!!

Amazing place to stay Vaea and her husband go out of there way to make sure you are looked after and feel like you belong .One of the only places with a deep water swimming hole in front and the sunsets off the deck were the best for photo shoots. The cabins are near new and very clean . a short walk along the beach to Aunty Odies café takeaway take a beer with you best kept secrete on the Island the food was great . Walk the other way to one of the larger hotels with happy hour and a restaurant down by the waters edge . Vaea is so helpful and only a phone call away for anything you need !

Tai Marino has 2 self-contained Bungalows on a beachfront family property run by Vaea and Marokii, who were wonderful hosts only a phone call away if needed.
Vaea greeted us off the plane with beautiful leis, had arranged a rental for us that was ready at the airport and showed us to our bungalows. These units are well equipped if you wish to self cater along with fans,air-con and screens and a verandah with table for meals.
Fresh fruit, milk, cereal and drinking water provided to start our stay of 7 days of bliss.
Great deep all tide swimming spot right outside the units also a canoe to explore the lagoon plus loungers and a hammock on beachfront.
Vaea has a wealth of knowledge about whats happening on the island suggesting places to eat, sightseeing, cruises doing Vodafone vouchers. The units were cleaned, sheets and towels replaced after the third day.We stayed here with friends so was lovely to have the whole property for ourselves.
We would highly recommend Tai Marino and hope someday to return.

We had a lovely, relaxing 5 night stay at Tai Marino. Vaea met us at the airport and took us on a quick orientation of the island with a visit to local supermarket to stock up with supplies. Property was very comfortable with a well stocked kitchenette, A/C, lovely balcony overlooking the ocean and kayaks. Easy walk to several eateries including Tamanu which was 10 mins up the beach. Highlight of our trip was our day out with Kii on the lagoon, he knew the best spots to snorkel and avoided all the bigger boats so felt like we had the lagoon to ourselves. Hired the scooter which was a great way to get around the island. Highly recommend this property, Vaea and Kii do a wonderful job to ensure you have the best holiday.

If you ever dreamt of a perfect tropical paradise then this is it. Friendliest hosts, ever (but not in your face) they sort out everything, pick you up, get you a scooter. It’s a beautiful setting in a lush garden, lovely views, metres from great swimming/ snorkeling. Aitutaki is fabulous . Can’t recommend highly enough .

My dream of visiting Aitutaki has finally came true! The island, the lagoon, Tai Marino and our hosts Vaea & Kii all exceeded our expectations. I knew I was in good hands when I unexpectedly received a telephone call (in Canada) from Vaea when she could see, from her end, that I was having some issues with the online booking. Wow ~ I was impressed! The pick up at the airport, orientation, welcome leis, fruit bowl and scooter waiting at the bungalow were all such wonderful bonuses. We loved our bungalow, loved the view, loved exploring the back roads on our scooter and loved the food & fruit smoothies @ Avatea Cafe. Even though we were going back to spend more time on Raro, 7 days wasn't long enough at Tai Marino and it was so difficult to saw goodbye to this island paradise. The highlight of our entire visit to the Cook Islands was Kii's private lagoon cruise ~ absolutely incredible ~ memories to last a lifetime. Thank you so very much Vaea & Kii for everything you do ~ you're the best! I look forward to visiting again someday.

We spent two nights in Tai Marino and two nights in Tai Inu hosted by Vaea and Kii. We will be forever grateful to them for adding an extra level of fabulous to our holiday in Aitutaki. Both bungalows were perfect. Beds are big and comfy, spacious balconies and everything is new and spotless. Tai Marino has ocean views and Tai Inu is one property back from the beach. Vaea is so kind and thoughtful. She picked us up from the airport and took a couple of hours to show us around the island and wait while we shopped for supplies. We felt welcome! Vaea had organised a scooter hire for us which we recommend as a fun, speedy way to get around. And best of all she had arranged a lagoon tour for us with her dear husband Kii on his little orange boat. Kii waited patiently for us while we snorkeled for hours in the paradise that is the Aitutaki Lagoon. We fell in love with the place and the people who looked after us. We can't wait to visit again.
