Had a wonderful, relaxing time staying at the Taha'a resort! Pros: the property is beautiful and the rooms are really spacious (we were in a sunset overwater bungalow). The coral garden is right on property and we snorkeled there quite a few times during our stay. The resort also offered high quality snorkeling gear to use during our trip as well, and they also have paddle boards and kayaks free to use. The resort/island are also large enough for some nice walks or runs around the property, which was a nice bonus. The food overall was very good, loved the breakfast buffets and the other evening a la carte and buffet dinners were great (although pricey, as to be expected I suppose). We did the canoe breakfast one morning which was an extra special treat. Overwater bungalow was great, and as a pro tip, bring a floaty so you can fully enjoy hanging out off the deck! Cons: Check in experience was sub par. The front desk employee asked if we had visited before, and after stating no, asked if we needed help to our room. Not only did we not know where we were going, but she proceeded to gives us the room details when she showed us to our room- our traveling companions weren't so lucky and were left sorting out how to work their AC on their own. I expect a 5 star property to escort you to your room and ensure you're settled in, especially when you've never visited. I would of liked to have a more casual dining option- the options were pricey dinner ($38-42 entrees, or extra pricey gourmet dinner (believe was approx $175 pp, w/o wine pairing). I would have loved to have the option to grab something casual at the bar or in just a more casual setting in general. The rooms, while very nice, did seem slightly worn. Admittedly, we just came from Le Bora Bora that had just been remodeled. But it certainly seemed like older, more authentic decor. …
The hotel has clearly the best location we have seen in French Polynesia and by far The beach are amazing, the activities we did (snorkeling with shark and mantas), the spa was really nice, the gastronomic restaurant despite the price was really good. The lagoon looks like heaven, the coral garden is great... The staff is globally nice, but sometimes would need to be more trained... and that brought some frustrations. But fortunately, Noémie the guest relation managers, did an amazing job in order to make us happy and to forget some of the mistakes that happened to us. Without her our experience would have been different, so thank you Noemie!!
We had a great week-long trip to Le Taha'a. Thanks to Lisa Corso at Tahiti Legends for making the recommendation and hand-holding during evolving covid protocols. The resort recommendation we received was spot on. Le Taha’a was the perfect mixture of quiet and out-of-the-way with plenty of activities around the property and some interesting things to see around Taha’a island. We ended up spending a great deal of time just hanging out on the deck our room. The resort was as luxurious as we hoped it would be but the food and helpfulness of the staff exceeded expectations. Highly recommended!
I hope this review helps anyone looking for a complete break from Covid-19 but may be worried about flying and where to go. After 8 months of isolation, the election behind us, we were ready. We contacted Tahiti Legends who recommended Le Taha’a Resort, situated on a tiny motu, perfect for a worry-free vacation. The moment we arrived at Le Taha’a we felt all the stress of the last few months completely melt away. Le Taha’a is the kind of place that’s truly like the posters you see at the travel agent. During the boat transfer to Le Taha’a a large group of dolphins greeted us and within 2 hours of our arrival at Le Taha’a, we realized we were somewhere special and wanted to stay much longer. Anna at Tahiti Legends was able to extend our 4 night trip two times, so we ended up staying 2 weeks. This was our 2nd visit to French Polynesia, but our first time at Le Taha’a. There is an incredible spirit and such positive energy, that we very much preferred to Bora Bora. The staff were all so kind, friendly and thoughtful. Tomita, Big Love, Sylvie, and so many more, no exceptions. The ever-attentive Laurent is the General Manager who knows how special his team is. We learned many of the staff have been there since the hotel opened, and some of the staff helped build the resort, while superbly luxurious, it was clearly built in harmony with nature. There is clearly a beautiful culture at Le Taha’a that combines a deep awareness of their local environment, genuine love for their guests. We stayed at Royal Villa number 52, and then 3 nights in a beautiful over water sunset view bungalow number 41. Our villa had a private beach front and hammock, where we spent so much time simply unwinding, watching the incredible birds, taking dips in the perfect lagoon water, with views of Taha’a Island, and just a short swim (or walk!), views of Bora Bora. The over water bungalows were incredible and at night we even saw a shark or two, a perfect way to end our stay. The coral garden is nature’s underwater wonderland, a float through paradise. One tip, check with the staff when is the best time to go to ensure the tide is high enough, during our visit it was between 10am and 3pm. While most people love the over water bungalows, we were very happy sending most of our time at the villa. The food is local and exceptional. While we had the half board plan, we also ate at the premium Ohiri restaurant 3 times during our stay. Ohiri has an excellent tasting menu for a supplement. We felt the Hotel offered a tremendous value, that included a thoughtful mini-bar with some of our favorite treats. Getting to Tahiti with Air Tahiti Nui from LAX was a seamless experience. Attentive, super-friendly crews and on time flights. They fly the new 787’s and we didn’t feel any jet lag from the 8 hour flight. We also found the airline’s strict protocols on board reassuring, plus we had to be tested prior to travel and wear masks during the flight My last point is about Covid-19. For 8 months we had mostly isolated at home, always wearing a mask when outside. For two weeks during our stay, all staff wore masks and there were strict Covid-19 protocols in place. Of all the places to travel right now, we cannot recommend Tahiti and Le Taha’a Resort enough, we found Tahiti Legends so knowledgeable, and their recommendation to stay at Le Taha’a proved to be a perfect match for our desire to ‘escape’ to a place we could feel coddled and safe. Tahiti is a beautiful place and at Le Taha’a, was our own tiny Island paradise. We highly recommend going, your heart and soul will thank you and you may well find yourself, like us, extending your stay!…
We loved our beach villa, the combination of privacy, lagoon access and the kindness of the staff. The food was excellent and better than at other top luxury places in French Polynesia, loved that. Honestly, for the price, this is a massive bargain for this country! Fantastic breakfast and awesome electric bike rental in the island. Landscapes on the island are spectacular. Also, the drift snorkeling was spectacular, we are bringing tons of videos for our family to watch for years. Me may well be back! If you can do only one stop in FP, go there.
