This low budget hotel was the substitute for Villas Lido on our G Adventures trip. My room was newly renovated, clean and cheerful, but the door to the bathroom didn't close properly. One room in the group had exposed wires from the wall and a leaking toilet and had to be changed. Another room had a leak in the bathroom that required a towel on the floor. The main pool, deck, and spa area was closed off due to construction. There is a nice forest that will be visible from the deck with monkeys, trogans, and macaws. The breakfast was OK and the lunch or dinner good. This was a disappointing substitute for an upgraded 3*** hotel, but will be a good budget hotel when all of the kinks are worked out.
The new rooms around a tiny courtyard at the back of the property are very nice, very clean, and very quiet. However, there isn't a chair, closet, shelves, or anywhere to put your luggage or your belongings, so we had to live out of our suitcases down on the floor. And getting luke warm water (at best) was a hit or miss occurance. The pool in the photos is being totally remodeled, so it was closed. Should be nice once it's finished. They have a 2nd small pool on the other side of the dining room & reception area. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful. They make the place inviting. And they work hard to accommodate their guests dining needs, such as an early breakfast in order to do a 7 am tour, etc. Overall the food was decent, not great. Breakfast was satisfying and filling. The bar was not a place to meet up for a drink -- limited selections, staffed by someone who mostly waits tables and pours beer or wine. Overall, a decent place, but will try other options next trip.…
Unpleasant experience. I ordered a half vegetarian pizza (the menu indicated that it had mushrooms). When the pizza arrived, it did not have mushrooms and instead had eggplant. I asked the waitress and the manager ¿why? and they just said they didn't have mushrooms, I’m sorry! I think that a decision like this, should have been consulted with me as a client. We also ordered a 3/4 term cooked tenderloin and it was medium term. Really bad services experience, the ordered was incomplete too. I’m from Costa Rica.
We booked this hotel via booking.com which shows the newly renovated rooms. They are beautiful, very modern and clean as you would expect from a hotel being renovated. The rooms would be better if the little snags can be sorted. These are things like pencil marks everywhere from the builders, one coat of paint and missed areas so the old colour can still be seen. The door itself to the room needs sorting like the lock has been fitted upside down and is hung wonkey. The internet in the rooms is very intermittent and weak when you do need it. As work is still continuing (and I mean heavy equipment!) they do turn the water off, so we had come back a few days to no water. We would go to reception and they would get the builders to turn it back on. The staff running the hotel were amazing, I can't imagine the stress of having to run a hotel and almost a building site at the same time. But if there was any time an issue they would sort it. I personally didn't find the food at the hotel amazing but it wasn't bad either. The location of the hotel is perfect for the area, the public shuttle bus stop is literally staright outside and will take you to Quepos or MA. It also have a little convince store opportunities. I think once this hotel is finished it will be stunning and hard to book!…
Wow what a little gem of a place this is. From the moment you step into the bar/restaurante you immediately feel relaxed and at home. The place has real character and so do it’s Management Cornelius and Francini. A real warm welcome awaited with a tour of the establishment; a search for the sloth that lives above the second, smaller swimming pool followed by a hot coffee and an even “hotter” banana daiquiri. ( I still cannot spell it properly Cornelius!). My friend and I were not able to stay for a meal but having looked at the menu and seen the dishes of food sweep by we are most definitely going back. This is a lovely small family hotel, two swimming pools very reasonably priced and situated close to both Manuel Antonio and Quepos Town. All he very best to Cornelius and Francini- a great place to be.…
Cornelio and his family are the definition of hospitality! They were so nice to us, we felt very comfortable! The food they offered was fantastic, we ate here almost every day. Every day the parrots flew over us and the gang of monkeys visited us too! The hotel is located right on the road connecting quepos and Manuel Anton, so by car you can be at all the beaches nearby in a few minutes and it's only a few minutes to the national park too! And last but not least: the internet was the best we had so far in Costa Rica, cloud backups are up to date again haha! We will definitely stop by again on our next trip! Pura Vida Luke
We stopped here for a quick bite to eat. The ceviche is the best I’ve had and the beers were cold. The beans with pork was also yummy. Great place. The food is excellent! A must for dinners. A. Fox Cape Cod MA. USA
For a family with a 3 year old, this was a great place to stay. There are 2 pools which our son loved and lots of wildlife and birds within the garden area. Our room was clean and fine for what we needed, although felt a little dark on the ground floor. Breakfast was tasty and really useful to have the restaurant/bar on site for when we didn't want to venture out some evenings. It's really easy to travel to Manuel Antonio or Quepos on the bus which runs up and down the road just outside and is really cheap. There are loads of different restaurants along this road as well which are made easy to get to with the bus. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
The restaurant was lively with good food fairly priced with the added bonus of live music on the 3 nights that we ate there. The music was very good with different acts on each evening that was from our era mainly (we're in our early 60's). Would recommend.
We just spent two nights at the Azul and as a seasoned traveller I can tell you that this little place is an absolute gem ! John ( the owner ) and the staff are amazing ! They make you feel like so welcome and the environment is relaxing and homey that i didn’t want to leave . The entertainment was absolutely phenomenal and the food was delicious ! I will be returning to Costa Rica next year and it will be for an entire week at the Azul blue monkey ! Thanks so much to the staff and John for the great hospitality ! Look forward to seeing you all next year ! Dean Smith Cindy Leger
