The good stuff first. Great location . Superb view over the Pacific, good breakfast & 2:1 Happy Hour mojitos. We were disappointed that the room wasn't serviced over our 2 nights. This is a hotel where you're asked not to flush paper down the toilet. Enough said? I hope so. Good base to go to the National Park.
We took a lot of time researching the best hotel for our 1 week getaway and time and again the Mango Moon Villa came up as the best option for our budget and our needs. We wanted to see wildlife and prefer a boutique hotel to a large corporate chain. Fran and her son Jake ( and Lucky, their sweet rescue dog) run the best secret in Manuel Antonio. As many other have already reviewed the views are out of this world. We stayed in the superior ocean view room and it did not disappoint. The room, with it vaulted ceilings and original Costa Rican wood furniture amplified the authentic experience. We saw our share of macaws, squirrel monkey’s and howler monkey’s too. We had a regular visit from a neighbourly toucan who liked to visit a particular room daily. There were little lizards, fresh star fruit from the tree in the back and wonderful staff who always made sure we had what we needed. The breakfasts were filled with fresh fruits, an omelette station, granola, yogurt, jams and toast, fresh juices and more. We had an unforgettable time.. There are many beaches to visit by foot but if walking steep inclinations is not your thing you can also access some beaches via the city bus which runs every 20 minutes and is very safe. You can also opt for a taxi but for us, taking the bus added to the experience. There are many delicious restaurants in the vicinity including the Carambola (Mango Moon’s Korean restaurant) Fran the owner I heard brings to the table many secret family recipes. One week wasn’t nearly enough time to explore everything, but we will be back. My only complaint was that the mattress I slept in was uneven and probably needed to be replaced and after I communicated the issue with Fran she said she would make sure it was taken care of. If you’re travelling with teens I highly recommend suite 7 (the gecko suite). You can’t help but fall in love with it all.. …
This is a lovely spot above the ocean in Manual Antonio. The pictures are absolutely how perfect it looks. All the people there, from the owner to the folks in the restaurant have such passion for the place and for accommodating their guests. It felt like being in someone's home! Best part was seeing so much wildlife right in front of our room - monkeys, birds and lizards too! The restaurant was also great - food and service both excellent. We really didn't want to leave is was just that good a place to stay.
Our family of 4 stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful time at Mango Moon. INCREDIBLE views and it was such a treat to watch a beautiful sunset each night. Breakfast (included) was tasty each morning with a mix of fresh fruits, made-to-order omelettes and some typical Costa Rican food like gallo pinto and fried plantains. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful as well. Only suggestions for improvement would be updated linens - some were looking pretty ragged/threadbare, and some maintenance to the AC units in the rooms, which were very loud and would wake us up as they would cycle on/off at night. Would stay here again, though - it truly was a beautiful place.
The Mango Moon Villas is an exceptional property. The owner & staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and caring. The villas are spacious and the views of the ocean and sunsets are spectacular. We highly recommend this place & are thankful we got to experience the beauty of Costa Rica here.
Our family stayed in a 2-room suite for 5 nights. The property is well maintained with amazing views! Our room was comfortable, and the staff was really nice. The pool was refreshing and happy hour was fun. And breakfast was delicious too! We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Manuel Antonio.
Lovely stay with a lovely owner that cares about her property. We enjoyed this cozy stay with gorgeous views in a bustling Quepos! We felt like we found a nice and quiet location that was excellently located to be able to walk to many things in the area. Staff was kind, room was spacious and clean, breakfast was great, views were absolutely beautiful… very nice stay overall. Also, we stayed here to go to Manuel Antonio and it was a very easy quick drive or cab ride there.
This is an absolutely wonderful place - and not just because of the picture-perfect setting with rooms and main floor overlooking the Pacific, the beautiful little pool, the hotel and restaurant tied together in a lovely building, the nearby beaches, stores, amenities, National Park, and trails all within walkable distance - but also because the staff are so friendly, helpful, and personable. After staying for nine days with my entire family I can say it never got old; privacy and social areas abound, a bar inside and a tiki bar by the pool, yoga served up now and then with the sunrise (not my cup of tea but the girls loved it), a daily breakfast spread full and fresh every morning, and the dinner menu changing nightly with consistent surprises and high quality. This is not an ultra-luxury ten-star affair that will cost you a fortune nor a corporate asset held by some distant international conglomerate, but rather a boutique, home-grown, family-run, everything-matters-to-the-owner kind of place that you'll be happy to be connected to upon arriving and upon leaving. Bon voyage and bon appetite!!! (PS: all my photos were taken at, or within easy walking distance of, the Mango Moon Hotel.)…
We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed 3 nights and the staff were very friendly, the location was good and the pool a very welcome refreshment after hiking around the local hills! The view from our balcony was amazing and it is a short walk from a number of other restaurants with equally amazing views. Would recommend.
We booked this hotel for a few day stay just to relax prior to starting the El Camino de Costa Rica hike outside of Quepos, we wanted to stay in lovely Manuel Antonia National Park area. As you walk out from the hotel lobby out on the restaurant deck which is overlooking the ocean through the trees full of birds, monkeys, Tucons, Mc Caws you feel like it is movie set of what a hotel should look like in paradise! I knew we made a great choice, with local beaches located nearby. You can tell the hotel is freshly painted, loved and cared for, the room was comfortable, very clean, the balcony and small pool were lovely. What sets this place heads and shoulders above the others was the great staff and friendly owners, Fran, Jake. Chef Francisco and bartender Gab were very friendly, fun and actual artists; creating amazing cocktails or healthy drinks and dinners. A convenient buffet breakfast was included each morning, with cooked to order eggs, fruit and coffee that we appreciated. We felt like we have new friends in Costa Rica and look forward to return some day! We did it we crossed the country on foot Quepos to Pacure Reserve! Cheers.…
