We spent two nights at this lovely hotel. We arrived late in the evening after an 8 hour transfer from Cahuita, totally exhausted. The reception staff was very welcoming, even upgrading us to a room with an ocean view, and helping us with our suitcases. The receptionist also helped clean up water spilled in our room from one of our water bottles, going back to the office to locate a towel. The facility was clean, and well decorated and maintained. Even though our room was not in the adult section, it was quiet and peaceful. The ocean view from the balcony was amazing. There was an open air restaurant just up the hill from our building that opened early for breakfast, and remained open for afternoon drinks after our Manuel Antonio National Park hike. Another restaurant and local bus stop were conveniently located across the street from reception. Can’t say enough about the friendly, courteous and efficient staff. A lovely place to stay. Next visit, we will stay longer.

We stayed 3 nights at Costa Verde and loved it. We were in the C building very close to one of the pools and steps away from the front desk. Based on other reviews, I expected to see a lot more wildlife, but we were able to see a few toucans, a few monkeys, and heard the howlers. The plant life is amazingly beautiful and there are so many fun "pockets" to the resort. We loved the adult pool that overlooks the ocean, as well as the family "C" pool surrounded by huge palm trees. The views are amazing. The staff was helpful, and carried our luggage to our room and gave us rides to restaurants, etc. We walked down to the beach the first day and drove the next (you can park for 3,000 colones) and it wasn't busy although the ocean was a little rough. There were monkeys, there, too! Our rooms included a fridge, microwave and sink/dishes/utensils which was very helpful as breakfast is not included. We utilized a local supermarket and had our own on our deck while we watched for animals. I would definitely stay here again. The only downside was that it took a long time for the rooms to get serviced due to lack of staff. One nice thing they offer is that you can continue to use their amenities on the day you check out, and they have bathrooms and showers available (and lockers for your suitcases) for when you're done and want to get ready to go. That is a service I have not seen at other hotels and we appreciated it a lot.

It's not really a resort, more a collection of separate accommodation blocks spread out on a hillside. There are various different types of rooms and you need to choose carefully if you want guaranteed ocean views. For the last few nights of our Costa Rica holiday we splashed out on a studio-plus room in the Adults-only "Costa Verde 2" building (which they call CV2) which completely exceeded our expectations. The room was huge and very comfortable with good air conditioning and a large balcony. The moment we arrived we were wowed by the amazing 180 degree ocean views all the way along to Manuel Antonio National Park. We saw monkeys running along our balcony most days and we loved watching their antics around the pool area at various times as well. There definitely were "more monkeys than people" as their motto says, and unfortunately they just weren't many guests due to the developing virus situation.

The hotel has some quite quirky features like part of a 1965 Boeing 727 aircraft converted into a suite and a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 fuselage also converted into accommodation. Note that everything on the site is quite spread out and it's very hilly. Even the walk from CV2 to the reception involved going up a steep slope or a flight of steps. So getting around would be an issue for the less mobile here.

We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the Anaconda restaurant, which is the only one where you can charge meals to your room. We did think that for the price we paid breakfast should have been included though. Anaconda has more fantastic views, plus friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. There are several other restaurants further up the hill which are associated with the hotel although they are separate businesses and you have to pay them separately. You can call reception and get them to take you in a car as it's a steep climb, but it's a little inconvenient as there's nowhere in the evening that you can just pop out to eat. Everywhere is a bit of a trek. However overall we had a very nice time at Hotel Costa Verde.

We were so excited to stay in their “renowned” 727 Jet Suite. It was early November and the end of the rainy season so we did have rain showers, but weren’t expecting them to be in the rooms. When we first arrived, we did a quick sweep and noticed over a hundred large black flying ants in the master bathroom coming from behind the wall. We went out to eat and I informed the desk. By the time we returned they were done or dying from sprayed insecticide. Unfortunately I needed to clean up the mess of the spray all over the sink and floor as I didn’t want it getting on my family’s skin or worse ingesting it when brushing teeth.
When we woke in the morning I slid across the floor almost falling from the puddle in the middle of the room from a leaking ceiling. I needed to use our towels to soak up the mess. I then noticed the comforter on my side of the bed soaked up a lot of rainwater and was soaked. After investigating I realized that water was coming in from the ceiling in the master bedroom, Living room, cockpit bathroom, and through various parts in the walls. I called the desk and asked for service to bring new towels. Cleaning service came with a mop and bucket but no towels. we asked for them to come back in 30 min after we showered and left for breakfast. I had to share a kid’s towel, ask the front desk for towels and return later that night to find zero service done and the same soaked towels on my floor. This was the same service I received the entire trip. When asking the next day for towels from the front desk I got a dirty look like I was annoying them. The room was beautiful and unique if it weren’t for the flooding and terrible service. As far as the rest of the resort. I personally stayed there 15 years earlier in 2006 and nothing looks to have changed or improved. Both bar/restaurant areas are currently under construction and unavailable. Not much to offer here except for being able to say that you stayed in the 727.
When I left I discussed all these issues with the front desk. They requested I send a Whatsapp text to the hotel detailing all the issues and request some form of compensation for the experience. I did it right there in person with them. 16 days passed with Zero return communication. I again texted them for a follow up and they said Sorry Management was doing nothing. My advise is take your business elsewhere. I understand there are sometimes problems but I expect them to be corrected on he spot or afterwards. Especially for premium rooms.

We were there during the Corona virus crisis. We asked to talk to the owner about modifying our reservations and were instructed to leave a note for him at the front desk that he never answered.
We went to the front office a second time and were told that these matters were only handled by the manager, we were further instructed to write a detailed email explaining our situation and were given a generic customer service email address to send it to.
The manager never responded, and a reasonable solution was never offered.
At a critical time where the travel industry as a whole was making accomodations and helping their customers with their safety as a priority the Costa Verde management ignored our pleas and only focused on extracting as much money as they could from their guests.
Advise, if everything goes well you may have a nice stay (the place is ok) if you need any help you are on your own.

When we arrived they offered us to upgrade our room for $20 a night to a nicer room with a better view. We upgraded and we were happy with that decision.

Pros: Beautiful ocean view, wildlife, good location, hot water in the shower
Cons: Spotty Wi-fi, room and fridge smelled bad, misleading "4-star" rating on their signs, 2 of their restaurants were closed including the one that was right next to our room, can't bring towels to the beach

Something I wish the hotel would have informed us of is that there are locals that pretend they work for a tourism organization at the beach. They block the road and "help" you get parked. You don't really have an option to go to the beach in your car because they will harass you. Here's what happened to us. We drove down to the beach and 3-4 people were standing there blocking the road. They said they would help us get parked, and then they directed us to park. Once we got out of the car they followed us and set us up with a beach umbrella. chairs, and a table without asking if we wanted it. They tell you the parking and beach equipment are $35. I don't know what would happen if you just ignore them. If I had known this was going to happen I would have taken the bus to the beach.

A couple we talked to at the hotel had a similar experience, but when they tried to turn around (because they didn't want to pay $35 for parking that is free) the people were tapping on their car continuously until they drove off.

I know it's not the hotel's responsibility to tell you about this, but they have an opportunity because they will mention that there is a bus down to the beach. Considering this happened to at least 2 different couples while I was there, it would be nice for them to inform their guests.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Compared to the previous hotel we stayed at in Arenal and the kindness of the Costa Rican people we had met so far on our trip and their hospitality, the front office staff can do more to improve. We arrived and we felt, were acknowledged after a bit after walking into the lobby. Check in was ok, the staff member explained the regs, informed us that 2 of their 4 restaurants are currently closed, pointed to where the pool is located, and showed us to our room. Beware! There are no elevators and if your room is not on the first floor, you will need to carry your luggage. They did not offer to help us with the luggage. The flatscreen TV did not really work. It was just static. We didn’t make this trip to watch TV, fortunately. We had a room with a kitchenette. There are a lot of tiny ants crawling around. The bathroom does not have air conditioning; it only has open window with a screen. The key to the room door is welded on to the key ring along with a smaller key (also welded) that turns the AC on. You cannot leave the room without turning the AC off. So, you do not return to a cool room. Understand that it’s to conserve energy, but wanted to make visitors aware. The pool and area looked clean, but we did not use it.

What saved the stay is that we were on the third floor and our balcony was directly in view/next to the forest. Therefore, we were able to see the monkeys in the mornings foraging amongst the trees, directly in front of us. We cannot deny the gorgeous view from our room of the Pacific Ocean. From what we could see the beach was mostly rocky. We were trying to find a path to the beach but unfortunately, did not see the sign until we were driving off the property on the last day. That information was not given to us when we checked in. The hotel is a bit dated but is clean. I would recommend staff undergo a customer service course. Their attitude, we felt, was “here comes another tourist.”

We stayed one night at Costa Verde hotel after our day trip to Manuel Antonio, and it was fantastic. We stayed in an ocean view room, which overlooked one of the three pools on the property, and of course, the ocean. Gorgeous view from here, the sunset view was perfect. This area is adults only, you have to be over 17 stay here. There is also an outdoor bar in this area, and William makes a mean blender drink! Try the mojito, it was great.

This place is very eco friendly, I especially liked the recycled bottle light fixtures.

I had a chat with the owner while we were there, very interesting man. He also owns 4 restaurants in the area, we ate at the BBQ one across the street, it was excellent. We were also given a coupons at check in for either a glass of wine or sangria for this restaurant, and let me tell you, it was the best sangria I’ve ever had.

I loved the hammock on our patio, I wished I could have stayed a couple more days to really enjoy the room, patio and beach area.

We sadly saw no monkeys. I was woken up early in the morning by what I thought was a monkey, but it turned out to be a very loud bird, who looked somewhat like a roadrunner.

Beautiful property and well maintained. The front desk staff was outstanding and accommodated us throughout our entire stay with rides up to our room, assisting with booking tours, laundry and general questions on how to take the bus. The A pool was quiet and sheltered by many tropical trees. The times we were in the pool we were visited by many monkeys and iguanas. Our room was in the A section and it was a surprisingly long uphill hike to get to it (hence the rides from the front desk). The room was large compared to other rooms we've stayed in and the view to the ocean was beautiful. The only 2 problems were the lack of A/C in the bathroom and the noise of traffic from the road below our room.

We found Hotel Costa Verde to be mediocre and, based on our room location, the opposite of a beach vibe. We were in the A block of rooms which is right on the road. It was really loud - lots of trucks and cars and people yelling. If your room is away from the street and near the beach, I could imagine having a different experience.

We had two rooms A7 and A8. A8 was upstairs and had a sitting room, high ceilings, kitchenette, balcony with a far away ocean view + 2 queens and a bunk bed. A7 had the same bed set-up, kitchenette, and balcony but had really low ceilings and was dark and depressing. The top bunk in A7 was not usable given the ceiling height and fan placement.

Both rooms were run down and dingy — rusted faucets, gross molding and corners, and bedding that could really use an upgrade — the A/C is run by a key so you can’t leave it on, the hot water is super unreliable, and you are supposed to use the same towels for pool and shower.

The A block has its own cute pool but requires driving to the beach which, with little ones, is a hassle. Breakfast is made to order and was good — the other restaurants were totally overpriced for the quality — especially when you have such good food at local restaurants nearby.

The staff was nice but not really service oriented — the overall experience was more “hostel” than “hotel”.

Our opinion was the food was overpriced and very average. The coffee shop by the airplane was OK. I would go into Quepos for meals that are better priced and more authentic.
