Pros: - For us, the best part of this hotel without question was the service. Olivier at the front desk gave us numerous recommendations for dining experiences that were spot-on! He also helped us book several tours, and he even acted as a liaison when we were having a hard time contacting one of the tour companies (for a tour we'd booked on our own in advance). Other staff members helped us throughout our stay, as well, like calling us a cab one evening, bringing us new coffee upon request, etc. Besides this, we had a great time chatting with him. You will feel like you are making a new friend! - The location is walkable to lots of great restaurants and some shopping. There are also pharmacies, convenience stores nearby, etc. - Laundry service!! We needed it partway through our trip after hiking through downpours. - bar/restaurant onsite for lunch and dinner. Food is bar food and not great...but it is an easy option if it is raining and you want to stay dry - there is a pool, but we didn't end up using it (Potential) Cons - Breakfast is included, but it is not onsite. That didn't two of my travel companions, who went to the restaurant for breakfast each AM. I preferred to eat something quickly in my room (fruit purchased at the market, for instance) so as to have a faster start to my day rather than having a sit-down meal each AM that would take an hour. - Cleaning of the room does not occur unless you request it. Again, this depends on your perspective. I appreciate that it helps save water (i.e. less laundry, etc.) but we did find that we had to request fresh towels every day because the towels were always too wet to reuse (didn't dry due to the humidity) - Coffee maker in the room but coffee is only complimentary on day 1. Otherwise, you need to buy your own beans. Very small but if you are addicted to caffeine like me, you notice it!…
The upgraded rooms are so awesome. The room is in its own building. You are surrounded by the rainforest, beautiful birds and lovely monkeys yet few steps away from nice restaurants, shops, live music and the main road where the bus stops. Imagining Rocking on the private back patio, listen to the rainforest, visited by monkeys or frogs. Your next door Neighbour is in a complete different building. We didn’t mind the stairs that’s connecting different parts of the resort. It was built by the shape of the land ! It is unique to the area and beautifully maintained! We loved Alex the receptionist. We loved the beaches! All together made our trip so memorable! We love CR!
We spent three nights and we're so pleased to get a free upgrade with a balcony and enclosed private parking lot by the hotel when we checked in. The room is modern with refrigerator, microwave, and a newly remodeled bathroom with special shower. We found everyone helpful in locating places to shop and get to the beach. It sounded like the hotel was beach front but that is not accurate. However, we had a rental car and could easily drive to the Atlantic ocean with sand beach that you don't want to miss. The breakfast was superb and run by an owner from India. We actually had dinner one night and authentic Indian food. They didn't provide maid service due to COVID but we were ok with that. Anything we needed, the receptionist provided. The pool was lovely too Very enjoyable stay Booked through Travel Zoo/ travel by Jen/ Jetset vacations. Quite the deal.…
Booked for a little bit of relaxation in the last few days of my holiday, only to find the swimming pool was not in use and obviously had been in the middle of repair for some time. I was only informed of this the night before I arrived so it was too late to be looking for something more suitable. Even though they upgraded my room it didn't really make up for not being able to relax by the pool on your last few days. I see that they are still not mentioning this whilst taking bookings currently therefore it is false advertising.
This hotel was cool, set against a wildlife preserve that served as our alarm clock each morning with lots of chittering monkeys!! Avatar, the Little India Restaurant owner was always on-hand for extra special service. Best help of all was Alex, the concierge who hoisted our luggage to the room, made small adjustments to our room for better comfort, and was all-around the perfect customer-facing employee. That guy needs a raise!
The hotel room was modern and provided us a comfortable stay in a very convenient location. Although we didn't explore all of the amenities (we didn't go to the bar or casino and the pool was closed to complete the renovation project), we were provided excellent service by Alex, the concierge, who seemed to be available at all times of the day. Though there was a pipe leak in the first room we were given. Alex did not waste a moment to resituate us into a slightly larger bungalow, moving all of our luggage across the property. Alex embodied the hospitality and warmth of Costa Rica, and made our stay seamless. We look forward to returning in the future.
We booked a room last minute for our daughter to stay while she was travelling. Alex at reception was extremely helpful in getting her the use of a laptop she needed for her interview. She had a lovely room, which was spacious and clean. The food at the restaurant was great and breakfast was fabulous too. We can definitely recommend Byblos Resort & Casino!
This is a decent hotel, lots of parking, within walking distance to ATM, restaurants, supermarkets and shops. Communication was an issue. Kids were looking forward to go into the pool, which had been drained. No warning, no sign, just a rope across the access. Second day when we came back, the room had not been cleaned, no clean towels. When calling reception, they said it was because of Covid. Even if I understand the concern, tell us upon checkin, do not have a piece of paper hidden under the menu and assume it is visible enough. Lots of stairs to get to the rooms, with little or no signage. Big shower, decent water pressure. Safe and fridge in the room. Some concerns with monkeys. Do not tease or touch. Loud music at night coming from an adjacent establishment. Reasonable breakfast. Not recommended.…
Well appointed & spacious room with great rain shower experience. Loved the Indian restaurant “Avatar” and real Jungle feel on the deck of our Bungalow. Service was fantastic on all levels. The monkey show is also worth the price of admission. Also if you need your laundry done, they have same day service and it was worth it.
We stayed in bungalow No.4 Great reception staff very helpful. Very clean and ready. Visited by Howler Monks in the morning. Bungalow excellent amenities. But there are a few thigs that could be better. Steps too high down and up to pool area. Why can’t we get cereal for breakfast. After a few days the breakfast menu was monotonousness as was in all the hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica . American eggs, scrambled or fried, with toast. Local breakfast rice beans . No bottle water in room. Poor quality toilet paper. No cushions for the veranda chairs. No extractor in bathroom. Shower nice but watch the slippery floor, rain fall showers are good but ladies prefer adjustable, they do not always want to get there hair wet. Electric sub station on boundary near pool fires up occasionally and it’s very noisy it is noisy around the pool also from the extractor for the kitchen. there because the pool is not at the correct level the circulation water jets are splashing out into the pool which might sound nice but it does make it very noisy heavy lorries struggling up the hill outside on the main road dose not help, not a peaceful relaxing environment I was expecting. We needed to check out at 7.00am asked if we could get a packed breakfast as the restaurant would not be open in time. Yes no problem, was it available for us to pick up, No it was not.…
