Overall the property is very nice. The upper pool is cool and the bar is nearby. The yoga classes were dope. Shout-out to the girl from Texas who taught ours. I think her name was mackenzie? We got one of the deluxe suites which were nice. Big shower, tap water was safe to drink, queen size bed with secondary twin across the room. We also had a nice little patio which was perfect for watching the iguanas and birds and monkeys running around. Some of the other reviews mentioned problems with noise but we didn't really share that experience, probably because our room was far from the main building.

We did have a couple of problems though. We had to change rooms because the wifi wasn't reaching us and neither of us had data on our phones. Also the pool that was immediately outside our room was green and had caution tape over it when we arrived. No point in having a private pool if it can't be used. After we switched rooms we had better luck with the wifi but it would still disconnect and reconnect every 15-20 minutes. The front desk was told but nothing was done as far as we could tell. We also had problems with our water pressure. My girlfriend was taking a shower and the water completely shut off. We went to the front desk and told them what had happened and, to their credit, there was a maintenance person in our room within a half hour, but all he did was turn on the kitchen faucet, saw that it worked, and left. The water problems persisted for the rest of the night but had resolved themselves by morning. We requested late checkout for our final day so my girlfriend could attend our last park tour and they tried to charge extra. After some back and forth we ended up getting it for free but they pushed back a little bit.

The reason my rating for this place isn't higher is because of the problems we had and the lack of service recovery. I'm generally pretty happy to let things slide but this was a legitimately frustrating experience and I don't think we'll stay here a second time.

TLDR: Nice complex, some very cool amenities. unreliable services, don't expect service recovery. Great if you're on a budget and/or will only be there to sleep. Otherwise, consider looking elsewhere

It was an amazing experience here at the Selina Manuel Antonio, we really enjoyed our stay especially and we love the way that everyone took care of us. Just to mention a few the amazing general manager Emilio, which we met him at the our first experience in Monteverde, he took care of us are pre-arrival and gave us a very nice room and he went the extra mile to make sure we were so comfortable. their location is fantastic few minutes away from the Manuel Antonio park where we were able to see so many animals and monkeys. They did recommend a whale watching trip which was amazing with Junior and his Ballena Tours, which is very recommend same as the Nauyaca waterfalls which was a great hiking, very fun around 8 km back-and-forth I will say medium level on the way up and then easier down, fantastic so fun and you feel a great connection with the nature. the hotel is also close library famous surf spot which is called Playita and also Dominical which is an amazing little surf village very recommendable. Dont forget to Langosta Feliz amazing seafood restaurant. Again thanks to Emilio Ellofy & RAFA, both with great insight tips about excursions and so on, also The American lady working at breakfast and also the Tico team that was working for Food and beverage & culinary. thank you so much Selina team will definitely see you very soon hopefully weather is here or around the world will definitely recommend it to all of our friends

We really enjoyed our stay in this hostel. It is a huge property with 3 pools, 2 restaurants, helpful staff and lots of interesting people. I liked the food in the restaurant and the coffee was the best! Note, there are lots of animals at the property. Skunks, iguanas, anteaters :) Take the room, since dormitory rooms can be super crowded with youngsters who party and drink all night. Location is just perfect!

We did a poor job of researching this hotel before booking. We used another website which caters to a younger crowd and the reviews there were very decent. We saw the reviews here after we finalized our reservation and some of the not-great reviews are unfortunately correct. We got a deluxe room and the room looked nothing like the picture. Not even close. This was a very rundown room, where you could see the stains of water leaks in the bathroom. On our first day, the sink in the bathroom was draining slowly and on the third day, it got much worse. We let the hotel people know and they fixed it the same day so at least they are responsive but this tells something about the quality of the rooms. My wife spent a lot of time in South Americas and she says that this is what you generally find, and I do agree with that statement since you are constantly battling against humidity, abrasive elements such as dust, sulphate from sea water etc but this is no excuse for false advertising. In addition, this place is a hostel. It definitely has a crowd they try to attract, and we were not their types. When you approach the hotel, you can see the backpackers gathered at the entrance, smoking, drinking, etc, and the next morning, you see the beer cans left on the steps. Not the best look. I don't want to be all negative, the hostel is in the forest, it has a very nice location and it serves a purpose for an expensive town such as Manuel Antonio. It is cheaper to stay here compared to some other hotels around. For anyone budget conscious who doesnt plan to spend a lot of time in their rooms, this place might be OK, but we regret not researching this place more throughly. It wasnt what we are looking for.

Be aware they may charge a 10$ cover just to get drinks/go inside and it’s not really a club just a bar for a hostel and a DJ. Tourists=Easy money at many places in Manuel Antonio. If it is a good enough party people will buy drinks, really. The vibe was not really pura vida inside.

Hi Stuart, we are sorry to hear you did not have a good time at the party. The cover was not set from Selina that night, it was an external event which was charged by them. We usually charge less for the parties at Selina. Thank you for giving us an honest feedback, this is really helpful to keep improving the experience. Pura vida!

I've stayed in a lot of Selinas since they normally give you a decent value at the cost of supporting a horrible company that has the dumbest staff in town. I know what what i'm paying for - i don't have high expectations. This place was awful- rooms infested with bugs, painfully bad bed, no toilet paper, the "suite" was a cramped room, and the liquor was actually fake. It sounds so dumb but it's true. I can't even.

We were recommended this HOTEL for the location and the vibe. This is not a hotel but a hostel. I would have been happy to stay here as a hostel, paying hostel prices. We paid over £100 a night which is a rip off! The room had a double bed and bunk beds so hardly a suite!

We arrived at 11am knowing we wouldn't be able check in but left our cases there and went to the beach. As we was returning at 5pm the heavens opened. We joined the welcome meeting which is ideal for solo travellers and backpackers. We then headed back to our room to find we had no towels. There is no phones in the rooms so we tried reaching out across their social media to no avail. We then called via their website but was told to contact the HOTEL directly, No one answered. Eventually one of us run across to reception to be told there was no clean towels available, this is now 7pm. The staff then found some beach towels we could use.

On the last day we left our cases in the room as the porter was collecting them for us. We headed out for the day. When we returned later in the afternoon we went to the luggage store where we couldn't find them. It turned out they had been left out in the reception all day so anyone could have taken them.

The upside was the monkeys and macaws outside our room as we were at the back of the property plus its a short ride on the bus to the beach and national park.

Do not stay here on a hotel basis.

I'm on the colive program so have stayed at a few different Selinas by now. I really enjoyed the fact that Selina Manuel Antonio had lots of space within its grounds; three pools, the yoga deck, nice rooftop for hanging out in the evenings, for example. It was the most social Selina I had been to, thanks to Nela and the interns who made it super comfortable. The micro room size is also really good and spacious.

Of course, the absolute best thing about Selina Manuel Antonio is having Mike at Tortuga Surf School. He doesn't just want to get you standing up on the waves, but he really teaches you the rhythm of the surf and how to read the waves for your next location. I haven't met a single person who doesn't rave about him!

The annoying thing about this Selina is its location- its kind of 'out of the way' from the beach (a 30 min walk or you could take a bus), and the nearest supermarket was at least 15 min walk away. I would therefore recommend having a car for this Selina.

I have stayed in 3 different Selina's each for a few months and I have to say that I truly love all of them! San Jose, Manuel Antonio and Puerto Viejo. In all 3 places the rooms are very nice, the service is excellent and the staff - and this is the best part - is extremely accommodating, The people I have met during my stays have been what has made my journey more memorable. Great people. Excellent management. I thank the Selina for all they have done for me and for making Costa Rica a great place to travel. Roberto C
PS - My dog Maddie has been treated amazingly as well!!! .

We stayed at a shared room, highly recommended if you're looking to meet new people and share experiencies of your travels. The interaction with both the staff and the residents is IMMACULATE. Had such a great time throughout the week meeting incoming residents and the 5 star service of the staff since day 1.
