Gonzales and communication was excellent. Indalo hotel is a easy safe 5 min walk from centre of town. The rooms are exceptionally clean, modern and with cold air conditioning. Wifi is strong both by the pool and in the room. Free coffee and cookies in the morning and breakfast looked good ( for a small fee ) but I did not have this. For the price this is great value and would definitely recommend just for the pool alone. Nothing negative I can say, Gonzales was the perfect host in every way and seemed to genuinely care about his guests !
We were only here for one night but would have happily stayed longer. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely designed. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful gardens where we spotted lots of interesting birds. The pool was also lovely and ideal for a refreshing dip in the morning before we checked out. This hotel has a great location close to the centre of Puerto Viejo, walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants, but it also feels very peaceful and secluded from the lively town.
We stayed at Indalo for five nights and really enjoyed ourselves. Our rooms were spacious and clean and it was nice to have the little patios out front. The swimming pool was admittedly a little small but great for a quick dip. And, lying on the loungers you can spot a good amount of wild life. We even saw a sloth just at the back of the hotel. Staff were attentive and friendly. Porto Viejo is pretty buzzy in the eve but quiet in the day. We'd like to recommend rafting with Exploradores, restaurants Cafe Viejo (when you get tired of gallo pinto), Mopri for fish and Como en mi casa/Bread and Chocolates for breakfast. Hiring a bike is a good way to explore the area. Last thing: Mosquitos really are ferocious at the Carribean coast so slap on the insect repellent and wear long trousers. We speak from experience.…
I was more than disappointed with this hotel. I paid them a deposit of $1,124 US to reserve for our group, which we were forced to cancel when COVID hit us. For over a year now they have been refusing to pay us back, refusing to even answer our emails, and telling us that they have no legal obligations towards us, which is an outright lie according to local laws. We offered the option to honour the amount as a room credit, and the owner, a Spanish gentleman named José Manuel Romero, laughed and hung up the phone on us. I was amazed that a supposedly upper end hotel would behave in such an unethical and unprofessional manner, especially given these times which are so difficult for us all. I suppose our only recourse at this point is to enter into legal action against them, which will be time-consuming and costly for all sides, but on principal I feel it is the only ethical solution they leave us.…
A true bargain! Beautiful gardens and pool. Bright rooms, strong shower, nice semi private patios. Friendly employees. They were very helpful to us during our 5 day visit. They took the time to get us to the airport at Limon.
+ Good location, easy to get too all the towns amenities and beaches within minutes, friendly staff, broken english but really lovely and offered us iced lemonade on arrival, brought us coffee to our room etc + The pictures make the hotel look really sleek and glossy when in reality its ok, acceptable but a little rough around the edges, the room was quite dirty (not the bedding or the sinks but the walls were stained etc. There was also a lot of mosquitos in the room on arrival. The wifi was off for about half of our stay (which wasn't a long stay i must mention) The water from the tap was brown and off-putting and the water pressure in the shower was varying from almost none to really strong.
Great value overall. Spacious room and more especially, helpful staff. Allan is the full-time receptionist there and I can’t speak highly enough about his engaging and helpful demeanor. He took his time explaining things to me and making sure my accommodations were more than taken care of. He truly is an asset to this company and I highly recommend him.
The place is great, it is clean, offers A/C, hot water and clean beds. Quite during the nite. Just 3 blocks from Puerto Viejo main steet. Parking is included. Breakfast is not included. Affordable price$ for the room.
Location was good for us. Just outside the noisy area. All rooms were facing a nice and well maintained garden. The staff was friendly and helpfull. The room was really basic and felt a bit like being inside a police jail as the bed was of concrete with a not comfortable plastic hospital matrass. The bedside table was massive concrete too. No decorations, waterkettle or anything else in the room. Outside rocking chairs were comfortable instead. Breakfast was really nice. Fresh fruits and bread. Overall we think the hotelprice is a bit too high for the standard.
We recently spent one night in the Hotel Indalo. It is about 400-600 meters off of the main road in Puerto Viejo. Looks a little plain from outside, but is actually very modern and well furnished. The staff was exceptional, very accommodating. Very reasonably priced, and the breakfast (optional) was delicious. Highly recommend.
