We stayed at Blue Conga for 2 nights during our 3-week trip from Panama to Costa Rica. It was by far our worst stay, even comparing to previous vacations. Bed is worn out, pillow is clumped and greasy as well as a high overall moisture due to no A/C will make this a night you won't forget. Four things that need to be done immediately without hesitation: - new mattress (current one worn out, you essentially lie on wood) - new pillows (current ones are clumped which happens after washing them and not drying them right) - install A/C to counteract moisture in the room and get rid of the loud fan - introduce a fruit platter as option for breakfast in instead of the standard rice-beans-egg plate. I asked the waiter for fruits but they don't have them. They don't even care to ask how you want your egg or if you're vegetarian. Why on earth, in a country full of fresh fruits, you offer only one single unhealthy breakfast option?? Further signs this "hotel" only offers the bare minimum: - Only two towels for shower, no extra towel for bathroom sink - No practical place to dry a used towel or wet clothes - No trash can in room (where to put water bottles or soda cans?) Just a small trash in bathroom for the tissues. - only 2 hangers for clothes - shower only had lukewarm water On the plus side: once you make it through this experience as a couple, your relationship is strengthened and this will be for years or decades the worst hotel experience you can talk about. In summary: It is beyond my imagination how this establishment became #3 of 22 hotels in Puerto Viejo and the Tripadvisor's Traveller Choice Award 2022. Both is not deserved. Obviously, I'd not return.…
Hotel room was very clean and hotel manager was engaged a lot for our stay. The hotel area is very beautiful. The location is some minutes outside Puerto Viejo village, so the nights are very quiet. Addtional equipment like microwave, coffee machine, tresor, balkony is available in the room. Washing service is also available (organized by the hotel)

I pulled into Blue Congo welcomed with a warm greeting from Stephanie (the owner)who quoted me a fair price for 2 nights including breakfast. This place was clean and cosy and was perfect for me because it is walking distance into Puerto Viejo but just far enough away that it is quiet. I had one of the more basic rooms onsite. My room came with mosquito net a fan private bathroom a place to hang your close and a balcony with a table and chairs and a hammock. Stephanie showed me a couple other rooms that cost a bit more but had aircon. A swimming pool as well along with a fridge to store fruit and snacks. I highly recommend staying here.
This one of the mouse beautiful places in Puerto viejo, i really like that the hotel is surrounded of nature and the pool is amacion this a please to feel relax and have nice time with the family and even friends. it's very near from the beach and located in a convenient place to go walking to puerto viejo town. the attention in the hotel is excellent. can't wait to come back :)

I stayed here for 4 nights in December towards the end of a 3 week trip. Not the most luxurious place I've stayed, but not the highest price either, and the bar/pool area were gorgeous and breakfast great. The staff were friendly and helpful with answering questions and making suggestions (I'd never heard of the Ara Project despite researching the area beforehand but it was on of the best things I did in 3 weeks in Costa Rica). The best bit of Blue Conga for me was the little grey kitten who decided that I was hers on the day I arrived, and barely left my side thereafter. Leaving her early in the morning for my bus back to SJO nearly broke my heart! I was travelling in CR on my own and was initially a little nervous about staying in PV as a lone female traveller but never for a second felt nervous in the resort or the hotel.…
In lonely planet Costa Rica this place is described as a backstreet b&b and I couldn't agree more, I really didn't like it here, we had a downstairs room with no hot water, and a room which was desperate for renovation, what we complained about the water my husband was told "you need to keep your wife warm" we had a rottweiler camped on our little terraced area and it barked at everything that moved which meant I was terrified to leave my room as i hate big dogs, the dogs next door were equally annoying as they barked all night! If breakfast wasn't ordered by exactly 4pm you weren't getting any, ten past was too late to get some extra fruit and an extra slice if bread! Was expensive at $7 for breakfast when it was just toast and fruit. I understand that the upstairs rooms were better but I had no option of one of those, I wouldn't personally stay here again, I'm certain there are many better places nearby!…
I had one of the better rooms with a ceiling fan and Mosi nets. Some rooms didn't have fans!! It was very humid too. Some rooms couldn't get hot water showers. The dogs next door constantly barked at all times of the day and night which spoilt our stay. Small swimming pool, no bar. Pretty gardens. Owner has 2 dogs on site which wander around.
Stephanie was super helpful and friendly, the hotel is nice and cozy. We got an upgrade to a room with a huge bed, which was perfect for us with 2 small kids. Breakfast is very decent, although no options to choose. Pool is well maintained. There are some really good restaurants next door.
