So professionally done UMAMI hotel is a little slice of modern comfort inna town which hasnt fully developed to the extent of this hotel (i really saw no other hotel here with this level of modern touch. Staff is super friendly - Rodney the front desk rep IS A LEGEND, and a true friend. Everything was clean and pristine. Id checkin here again.
Beautiful hotel Staff were super friendly and helpful Beautiful room overlooking the pool and private balcony Comfortable bed Coffee machine abs fridge in the room was a great addition Close to town and beach but far away enough to not be noisy
The hotel is beautiful and bespoke but there were 2 major flaws: First, the chairs on our balcony were nice looking but not functional. My husband and I felt like we were constantly spilling out of them and if you leaned forward the back cushion would fall over and you couldn’t lean back until you got the pillow to stay in place again. A bit of Velcro could fix this. Also a footrest could help keep you in the chair. My husband and I spent our time trading turns with the small table outside which meant that one of us was falling out of the chair and uncomfortable at any moment- plus you couldn’t move at all lest the whole delicate balance goes toppling over. Almost reminds me of the seats at a bus stop that are built to be uncomfortable so nobody will stay too long. Second, the fragrance they have in the bathroom is god awful. It smells like corn nuts with a hint of vanilla and farts. They have one of those glade dispensers that sprays every few minutes which we turned off right away but the room still stank for our entire stay. It was so bad that it felt like an evil demon was living in the bathroom and we had to keep the door closed at all times lest it come out and kill us. By the 2nd day I was using a double mask every time I went to use the toilet, feeling ill, and couldn’t wait to leave. Besides that the amenities were really nice. It was such a shame that these two shortcomings were at play and prohibited me from feeling relaxed and at ease. If the whole resort didn’t smell so badly I think I would have quite enjoyed my time. It is very beautiful with nice views of greenery and tin roofs nearby and the staff was very friendly.…
250$ for a night and you need to stay with no hot water and nobody help you , breakfast are under reservation time , because is in the lobby with 3 micro table , pool is a micro pool , room is a micro room with very low qulity mattress and low quality lines , the real value is 60$ , parking is outside in a very bad neighbours , can robber you in your car .
We had a lovely room with a great bed, linens, and a fridge with an ice maker!! We love that. The breakfasts were superb and served on time and very nicely done. The sunsets from room 104 were fabulous and inspired photos and some watercolors! Easy walk to our favorite restaurants. The hotel staff arranged an excellent hike to some waterfalls with a super guide and driver! What a nice addition to Puerto Viejo!
We loved our visit to Hotel Umami. We had stayed nearby at a ‘boutique’ hotel that was a bit disappointing but we loved Umami. We just relaxed and had a perfect time. Delicious breakfasts, incredible room service, lovely cocktails, pleasant music and good vibes all day every day, and a great pool. Really recommend and definitely the only place to stay around Puerto Viejo if you want a delightful stay that’s actually worth the price tag!
We were on our honeymoon, planned 5 nights here. Then they let us know they couldn’t accommodate us the first couple of nights so we had to find other accommodations. On our first night there the bar party came back to the hotel complete with pool chicken fights and people singing “we are the champions” at the top of their lungs. There is no one working there after 10 so that went on until after 4 in the morning. We did very nicely ask them to keep it down. The party folks nicely said yes then partied on. Had a stain on my pillow upon check in -asked for a pillowcase change that didn’t happen. Might be important to some to note their plumbing doesn’t support flushing TP. Lots of places like this but lots also can support We left the next morning and stayed at le cameleon. Well worth it.…
We had booked a deluxe suite with bathtub, and weren't able to get in it the first night (which was a bummer), but it was amazing when we did on the second. It was a gorgeous room. Overall, the hotel is beautiful. A very relaxing vibe. Great courtyard with beautiful pool in the middle. Nice little bar with breakfast in the morning. The staff is wonderful, Edwin was always there to help us with whatever we needed, as was everyone else. Close to the main area for restaurants, shopping and the beach. A gem in Peurto Viejo with the friendliest people!
The entire staff is amazing but Tony stood above the rest. His patients and caring demeanor was everything. He made out stay so much greater. The rooms are excellent, the guest were wonderful and the food was amazing. Thank you for everything.
Great hotel. Small courtyard with all rooms in a square compound. Rooms are decorated nicely. Coffee machine in each room. AC is wonderful for those humid afternoons. Small refrigerator AND freezer was nice to keep extra waters/beer. Bed was king size and very comfortable. Many reviewers made the comment about the shower being in the middle of the room which does not make any sense! This is an adult-only hotel and the showers/bathrooms were well appointed. We enjoyed the chairs on our front patio for our morning coffee. The free breakfasts were delicious. The drink reception when we arrived was delicious. We had mixed drinks each night/afternoon by the pool to cool off from the humidity/Salt water from the ocean. I would def stay here again…close to everything…howler monkeys in the trees close to the hotel….room was quiet so you could get a good nights sleep. We stayed at other hotels where roosters would wake you at 0330. This hotel wont disappoint!…
