I can't t say enough about the professionalism and hospitality of the woman who runs this place. She did everything to help me get around and figure out things. And her breakfasts are superb. The place itself is also really nice. The bungalow was immaculate (no mean feat in the jungle). The beach is just a brief walk away. Do yourself a favor.

I gave 3* because I don’t think there is value for money here. Also the property is situated over 25mins walk from the centre of Cahuita and the National Park, along a stony and dusty road. It is safe at night, if dark in places. The bungalow is beautifully fitted out and very comfortable with good shower, plenty of hot water and good ceiling fan. No a/c but I didn’t miss it. Excellent mosquito net which you must use as I got bitten the night I didn’t use it despite netting on windows. The odd grasshopper, cricket and baby gecko in the bathroom didn’t bother me. The grounds are lovely. Breakfast (a plate of fruit and a hot dish) was beautifully served and adequate though you had to ask for more as more was not offered. Parsimony? Frugality? I don’t know which. At this price…

Response from coralhillbungalows, Owner at Coral Hill Bungalows
Responded Mar 8, 2019
Hello David! I am sorry that you did not fully enjoy your stay at Coral Hill Bungalows. Also, sorry you felt there were too many rules and regulations. :-( Concerning the no smoking indoors, that is a law that is countrywide in Costa Rica (Ley 9028). As far as keeping wood surfaces dry (bathroom vanity) and no spraying of insect spray, etc., our bungalows are constructed from a special wood that can no longer be forested and we take pride in keeping our bungalows and their wood surfaces as pristine as possible. I do sincerely hope you are enjoying the rest of your holiday in this beautiful and diverse country. All the best, Julie (owner)

We loved our week at Coral Hill Bungalows. Julie is a fantastic host: easy to communicate with, helpful suggestions, friendly, attention to detail. Our bungalow was clean, well maintained, and pretty. Breakfast was substantial and tasty. I loved all the flowering plants on the grounds. Also, Cahuita is a good location for exploring the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.

Had a lovely stay at coral Hill, the garden is beautiful and Julie was a great host! She helped me out booking transfer to the AirPort and is very knowlegdable. The breakfast was very tasty and different than usual in Costa Rica. The bungalows are something special, the bathroom was the best we had on our trip! Loved the garden with all the animals, several sloths and monkeys in the garden! Because the beach closest isn’t really equiped for swimming we kind of missed a swimming pool... Thank you Julie for all the great care!

We stayed for 17 nights. Julie was a great host with lovely breakfasts to set you up for the day. The bungalows are very spacious and immaculately cleaned every day with clean towels daily. Beach towels also available. It rained a lot and the umbrellas come in very handy. Wonderful wildlife on your doorstep including sloths, monkeys, snakes, frogs, iguana. Perfect location for exploring Cahuita. We had a car and went to all the local beaches including Puerto Viejo and Playa Negra. Cahuita National park well worth a visit. We walked whole thing there and back and see lots of wildlife Including howler monkies, raccoons, squirrels, agoutis and of course sloths. Favourite restaurants El Rincon del Amor, El Purgatorio, Sobre Las Olas. Reggae bar good for drinks as is…

What a fabulous stay! The bungalows were so clean and well taken care of! Large bathroom with a wonderful walk in shower with 2 beautiful hand painted sinks! Comfy well appointed bed! Sit and relax on your porch or swing in your very own hammock. Breakfast served every day with flowers accenting your meal! Gorgeous and delicious! Julie and her staff were so very friendly and knowledgeable. They offered many suggestions of things to do and places to go. When I return to Costa Rica this is the place to stay! I didn’t think I could fall asleep to the howler monkeys but now I’ll kinda miss them! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Only had 2 nights and wish had booked more. Great location just outside of Cahuita but couple of bars/restaurants close by if you want to avoid the trek into town. Probably better if you have a car but we walked to/from town on the beach road and it was fine (torches recommended). Julie is a great host and very helpful with recommendations and making reservations. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the deck with hammock very relaxing. Great breakfasts with something different each day. We loved it here.

This is an excellent choice in Cahuita. Large private bungalows in a beautiful garden, excellent breakfast, and a friendly host! The location is within easy walking distance of two pretty beaches and the town center of Cahuita, with access to Cahuita National Park.

My wife and I spent two nights here during our travels to Costa Rica. What an amazing place!!! The property is simply beautiful nestled neatly in the Tropical Rain Forrest in Cahuita. The owner (Julie) and her staff are highly attentive and will assure you the most amazing stay ever. Fresh breakfast each morning and a wealth of information about the city and the wildlife. The bungalow was massive with massive windows for natural light. The hammock on the front porch and rocking chairs were nice for relaxing and listening to the insects, birds and animals in the Forrest. The property is meters away from cute restaurants and black sand beaches. We will definitely be returning to this hidden gem!
