Nicely laid out site with individual chalets. Situated just over a small road from the beach the location is very good. The hotel bar/snack bar faces the beach and there is a small seating area overlooking the beach where you can have drinks.

It is around 20 minute walk into town and 30 minutes to the national park and that beach.

The hotel pool is very nice and the restaurant overlooks this, where you have breakfast.

Our room had a terrace overlooking the garden with seats and a hammock. There were two double beds and adequate room, however, no hairdryer or safe. However, there was an issue with electrics as when I pulled my plug out of the wall the socket came with it, it wasn't even fixed to the wall!

Breakfast was reasonable, buffet style with a lady cooking excellent fried eggs to roder.

Staff were friendly and helpful.

It is around 20 minute walk into town and 30 minutes to the national park and that beach. There are a few restaurants nearby for the evening if you don't want to venture into town.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. We booked it last minute and it turned out to be the best on our trip. Spacious rooms, the treatment of the staff (although somewhat dry) always very attentive and respectful. During our stay there was a strong storm and although the wifi went out for a few hours, they restored it as soon as possible, plus they always have hydration available at the reception.
My only complaint is the breakfast, they don't have a great variety (although it is advertised as a buffet and the person who prepares the eggs does it reluctantly, he still gave them to me raw).

Lovely location right on the beach and very close to Cahuita. Beautiful rooms with private verandas in a peaceful forest setting. The pool was large and well maintained and stayed open until 10pm. The dining room was beautifully designed.
There was a heavy rain during the night and the skylight in the spacious bathroom leaked a lot.
The breakfast was a little disappointing. The custom cooked eggs/omelettes were great, and there was a tray of fresh fruit but the coffee was mediocre and the bread was boring 'wonder bread' type.
All the staff members went above and beyond to accommodate guests. The facilities were very clean but looked like they needed some maintenance such as the previously mentioned roof leak, dripping faucet and the door frames were rotting.
We would still recommend this hotel.

A basic accomodation situated near the beach, but a 10 min walk to the town or national park. In our room the shower is open, though the water runs from the bathroom to the lower situated sleepingroom. Furniture at the pool is made off concrete. Staff is friendly and helpfully. Rooms and towels are clean.

This place has changed hands since our previous visits to Cahuita. Previously, it was an upscale place tucked away off the road. It was always very quiet and unassuming. Today, it is filled with the younger surfer/partying crowd. There is a busy bar with beachside service. There are lots of young folks on the beach, sunning, swimming, surfing, wake boarding and drinking. By late afternoon, it’s a little raucous and the music is loud but everyone seems to be having fun.

The evening we ate there, we were tired. We’d had a long and busy day and didn’t feel like making the 8 minute awalk into Cahuita to any of the restaurants in town. So, we went next door to Atlantida and had a burger and fries each. The burger was quite large … bigger than I’ve seen in years. It was cooked to perfection and garnished with just the right things … tomato, lettuce, onion and ketchup. Salsa and salt and pepper were provided in case we wanted it. While it wasn’t the most adventurous meal we had, it was satisfying for two weary Canadians who’d overdone the day’s activities.

Atlantida would not be our first or even second choice of eatery but it was okay for what it was. It’s a bit like those evenings when you’re late coming home from work and exhausted and you head through the McDonald’s drive through rather than cook once home because you just don’t have the energy. We can’t really recommend it but it’s okay in a pinch

I started coming to Atlantida in September with my fellow classmates then stayed again in early November 2023. I love Atlantida! The place is situated on the beach. The rooms are clean, the ceiling fans are powerful and work great. The bedding is clean and beds are comfortable. Love the pool and grounds, with beautiful stonework made with local coral and stone. The breakfast is outstanding, and the restaurant offers typical Costa Rica dishes and wood fired pizza. The only thing I wish they could add is iced coffee!

Basic room with fan. Hearing everywhere so you can get good air. Small bathroom with a shower.
Because there was a double bed and a single bed, it was quite cramped to walk and you could easily bump into the edge of the bed.
If you order drinks (cocktails) at the bar, you can hope that they will deliver it.
A broken shower head was quickly replaced but sprayed in all directions.
The WiFi rarely worked in the room.
Upon departure they wanted me to settle an already paid bill.
I was able to show them the credit card statement on my cell phone and a photo was taken of it.

Never again

The beach is right on the doorstep but there are no sunbeds available.
Rooms Dark and in poor condition
The restaurant is empty which is also no wonder with the quality and sometimes unfriendly and unmotivated staff.
If you are looking for quality and some claim to accommodation here is wrong.
The pool is fine and the only poistive.
Room cleaning partly not recognizable that someone was there.
Cups and drinks cans were not removed from the terrace in 3 nights.
Beds are 1.20 wide - this is not sufficient for 2 adults.

Hotel Ehen reminded me of a low budget or backpack tourist hotel.

Gernerell is Cauhita felt a meeting place for dropouts and alternative etc.
I'm sure we can't get there anymore.

Comfortable enough lodge - similar to others we stayed at during our trip to Costa Rica but unsafe electrics as my granddaughter and son in law both received strong electric shocks and sparks flying when they took a shower! Reported to reception but not sure anything remedial was done. Others in our group in other lodges in the same block also had problems with lighting failure and shocks from shower. Hope it did get fixed before anyone got a more serious injury!

Dear Sarah thank you for your comment. Thats right in Cahuita we suffer with electric problems but it is not for our lodge cause we depend on the public company that provide the system. Concerning the electric shock that you mention, we never had problems in that issue before but we checked the system later and no problems at all. In fact we had continue with more of 80% occupancy and no problems at all, but thank you for inform everything at lodge is working good

The first room had no safe so went to another room with safe
Great room with all the trimmings. Sit by the front door.
Good reception with clear info. There was even a gym with all the trimmings.
Good breakfast with great choice, buffet version so very enjoyable.
Front hotel looks out to the sea, but often a bit louder music so you have to love that. Evening food fine. All in all fine and close to the town itself so you can walk to the national park

Answer from Atlantida Lodge L
Cahuita, Costa Rica
How to Get to Atlántida Lodge Cahuita: There’s several ways to Get to Atlántida Lodge: 1. Car Rental.- Rental cars can be arranged at the airport or in advance through major car rental companies. Prices can range between $40 and $100 U.S.D. a day, depending of course on factors such as the type of car, the length of the rental and the insurance you choose. Although the road to Cahuita is paved and smooth, we recommend hiring a 4x4 for any secondary road adventures you might take while you're here. 2. Taxi: A private taxi will probably cost around $200- $250 U.S.D. 3. Public bus: The bus to Cahuita leaves from the MEPE Bus. $10 U.S.D. for the bus fare to Cahuita. Buses depart at 6:00 am. 10:00 am. 12:00 pm 14.00 and 16:00 pm. 4. Shuttle service: Several companies offer shuttle services between San José and Cahuita at fixed times and prices. They have the advantage of being faster than public transportation (no stops) and more comfortable with air conditioning and much fewer people. Prices vary depending on the company, but can range between $25 and $45 U.S.D. How to get There, using a Rent Car: Take Highway 32 and follow it north towards Limón, through Braulio Carrillo National Park, Guápiles, Siquirres and Matina. Just before getting to downtown Limón you will see a sign on your right towards Cahuita. Take that road to the right and follow it south all the way to Cahuita, bordering the coastline. Once you've arrived to Cahuita, all you have to do is continue to Playa Negra beach and get to the soccer field, You will find the lodge. For convenience enter Atlántida Lodge in Waze and the system will take you straight to the property
