I stayed here for 3 nights with a friend. We were greeted by super friendly hosts Andrea and Samuel and a welcome beer! The cabins are great, loads of wildlife around, there are amazing sloths who live in the beautiful gardens. The restaurant is also lovely and does a great breakfast. Andrea and Samuel were really helpful throughout our stay and we felt very welcome. It's a two minute walk to the local beach and a 20 minute walk into town although get a taxi if it's dark. All in all, a great stay. 100% recommend.

Wonderful place. I stayed in one of the property's cabins with a friend. We were there during the off season, so it rained just about every day. But that's okay because that's why Costa Rica and the grounds of Cabinas Algebra are so verdant. Yes, Cabinas Algebra is a 20- or 30-minute walk to the village of Cahuita but it's a great walk alongside the beach and lots of nature. Andrea is very conscientious host and puts a lot of energy into making sure guests are comfortable. I liked being able to wander into the reception area (beautifully-designed, btw, with an octagonal-shaped veranda surrounded by trees) and ask for a fruit bowl at nine in the evening--and have exactly what I wanted set in front of me within minutes. If you don't need a lot of action and social life, this is a good choice. I'm a writer and spent many happy hours sipping tea on the veranda of my cabin. It was small (just enough room for two people) but had a huge tiled bathroom. A real joy to work in silence and hear only birds, geckos and the occasional pair of agoutis (rabbits) leaping from the underbrush. And heaven is the hammocks Andrea has strung up in front of every cabin.

Imagine waking in your basic (but clean with hot water) cabin, with sloths in the trees, sounds of howler monkeys, perhaps agouti scampering over the spacious lawns., A unique location--though without a car, either a 40-minute walk to town or waiting for a taxi. The management is terrific, breakfasts not included but delicious, relaxing atmosphere. Beach a 20-minute walk from there.

Room Tip: No tip necessary. Only a few cabins, and each open onto the verdant lawns on the forest.

The wild feeling is here now. Howling monkeys will be next to you at morning. You can ear the ocean from a beautifull cabin while you have your own breakfast. The place is a piece of heaven. Cahiita's town is not so far but also you can feel the jungle and they sounds: birds, monkeys, colored frogs, it's amazing. Don't miss it!!!

I can't find a separate page for the restaurant but wanted to post a review as we had such a nice experience. We stayed nearby and came to eat at Restaurante Bananas for dinner. The food was fresh and tasty with amazing local vegetables. The owner came out to talk to us about the different vegetables in the dishes as we were so intrigued about what some of them were and when she heard that we were really hoping to see a sloth while in Costa Rica but hadn't yet seen any on our walks, she invited us to come see two sloths in her garden the next morning (they were adorable!!). Highly recommend this place for a bite to eat if you are in the area. Lovely food and lovely people.

We didn’t stay here, we were down the street and walked to here. As most places in Costa Rica are open air. Cabinas Algebra was clean, neat and cozy. Soft playing music in which you can still here the sounds of the monkeys in the jungle. The food, service and atmosphere was great. The amount of food for price was even more perfect.

We had a great time at Cabinas Algebra. Room was nice and clean. Loved the tropical garden where you can find sloths and colourful frogs! Staff is also very friendly and helpful. The place is run by a Swiss lady. It’s located 5 min by car from Cahuita. There are bicycles you can use to go to town. Would definitely recommend this place!

Andrea and Samuel are fantastic. This mother and son team have made this simple cabina compound a lovely place. We saw more wildlife, toucans, Blue Morpho butterflies, poison dart frogs, sloths, than we saw in the National Park. The restaurant is great and although it is a 30 min walk to Cahuita we truly enjoyed the exercise of walking and looking at the wildlife, meeting the people and putting our toes in the sea. Although the cabin was very plain the beds were comfortable and it had everything we needed. Andrea is a good cook and we enjoyed our meals very much.

The grounds are super lush and beautiful, the owners super kind and very helpful. We were really disappointed with the room though - there are no windows, only a mosquito net, the bathroom is super basic and the bed with the mosquito net very uncomfortable. Worth a visit to see the grounds, but the cabinas are way too uncomfortable if you're looking for a place to wind down.
