We stayed here at the end of our Costa Rica trip, and it was by far the best out of the several hotels we stayed at during our trip.
We arrived midmorning on the off chance we could leave our luggage until the room was ready, but were allowed to check in and go to our room straightaway. We interrupted David the owner during his morning garden tidying, but he friendly and charming and went out of his way to make us feel welcome and give us all the information we needed for our stay.
The cabina itself was clean and spacious, and we enjoyed hanging out on our porch in the evening, listening to the wildlife.
We were allowed to leave our luggage in the room until way past check out, while we sorted out bus tickets for our onward journey and said a last goodbye to the beautiful beach nearby.

We spent three nights here, it is a really nice place, we had quite a big room, the garden is also nice. We felt really welcome by the managers of the hotel who are an Italian couple, very kind and helpful people. They helped us with everything we needed here. Can only recommend! 😊

Super cute cabin. Close to beach and little town with restaurants. Nice grounds. Friendly staff that was very responsive. Rooms cleaned daily. Seemed very safe and was very quiet. Stayed for 5 nights. Only complaint was the water pressure was terrible and no TV for the entire stay. No TV is usually not an issue for me but being it gets dark early, it would have been nice to watch some TV in the evening. Overall a nice clean place with friendly staff.

I really, really loved this place and wanted to give it 4 stars... but the beds are just SO hard! My husband actually laughed when he laid on it the first time because it was almost comical. That said, this was the only negative thing about this place.

The couple running the cabanas, Alberto and Margarita are wonderful and fun as are the staff of pets. The cat made me feel at home by camping out on my lap while I had my morning coffee (I missed my own kitties!). The dogs, Luna and Negra, were super sweet and we loved them. They really added to the experience.

We stayed in the two bedroom suite and it was really nice and clean. It had a good kitchen and was very roomy. It's located at the back of the property and has lots of privacy. The porch is large, with 2 hammocks and a table with chairs. The screens were really good and no mosquito netting was needed (though it was provided). A laundry sink and drying line are in the back of the cabana.

In the morning, Margarita and Alberto offered toast and coffee as well as advice about the area and help with making plans. Margarita was very patient with my 7 year old daughter following her around chattering and "helping". :)

Possibly the best thing about this place is the magnificent garden property. Animals were everywhere! We saw dozens of howler monkeys, green dart frogs and even 2 toucans! The property is very conveniently located, across the street from the beach and a 5 minute walk to town. Still, it feels like being in the middle of the jungle because of the beautiful flora and fauna.

I would beg the owner of this place to invest in mattress pads, which would make it perfect!

we booked after seeing the listing on Expedia: "On the beach. Situated on a stretch of beach in Cahuita". We needed a 3 night stay, but were concerned that it may not be as nice as listed (most places rarely are). I asked Expedia about cancellation policy and if it's not a good place, can I cancel the third night. He said as long as it's 24 hours in advance (now, according to Expedia, that means 24 hours in advance of the FIRST night...BEFORE you see the place). When we got there, it was 1/4 mile from the Beach and certainly no view. At check-in we told the owner that we won't be staying the 3rd night, just 2 nights. She said that's no problem. (of course it's no problem, she planned to charge us anyway!). The place was not too bad, except for the tiny little TV in the entryway and scary looking kitchen. We've stayed at many places in the area and there are much better for less money. Our third night was at the National Park Hotel. A bit smaller, much nicer, great view and much less expensive.

Hi Bob. Sad to read that your stay in our place wasn´t pleasant for you, but your kind feedback help us improve, we are always doing our best to give the best we can give. About the view, our hotel leans more towards a stay in the middle of nature, near the sea, where you can be lulled by the sound of the ocean but not directly on the waves. Thanks a lot for your comment. Glad that at the end you found a place were you enjoyed our Paradise. Best wishes.

I am a 43 year old professor and my wife is a 31 year old lawyer. We are from Canada. We stayed in a single room (not the 2 bdrm) cabin for 1 night. We were happy with the experience.

First of all, the place was very clean including the bathroom. The room was very spacious and included excellent cable TV, but especially, a beautiful porch with hammock. The other cabins (4 total) were larger, and had 2 bedrooms + a kitchen. Our shower water was not hot, but lukewarm.

The place is very secluded and located across from the beach, though I never found the access point. We could hear the waves at night, and howler monkeys and other wildlife early in the morning.

Cahuita is a tiny one-street town, and this hotel (no breakfast included) is an easy 5-minute walk away. If you do stay here, one tip is to eat at the very nearby Cha-Cha-Cha Italian restaurant (superb, amazing dinner). The entrance to Cahuita National Park is a 10 minute walk (at most) down the main street...and it is an amazing place for the beach but especially the wildlife (spiker monkeys, howler monkeys, etc.).

Cahuita had a wonderful, peaceful, romantic and rustic vibe to it. It is not for the Sheraton Hotel set however so be warned.

We only paid $60 USD for our little cabin which was excellent value.

My partner and I had quite a bad experience in San Jose on our first night and were very skeptical about our next stop in Cahuita. We were pleasantly surprised to find a wonderful little oasis surrounded by natural sounds and sights. We had a little trouble finding it from the bus station, but once there, we were greeted with warmth. We had a nice private room with bathroom, porch, table and hammock! Round Rock Beach is literally 2 minutes away by foot, and the town is 4 minutes away! Our experience here, easily made Cahuita our favourite stop!

An amazing two weeks, sad for it to end. First time to Costa Rica and SO glad we picked Cahuita and staying here. Cahuita is a fairly quiet, laid back little town.
Cabina Luna is the perfect location...it is barely out of the main area..but a more peaceful spot and you can hear the waves at night, whilst being surrounded by lush gardens.
David and Enrica are a wonderful couple, present every day at some point..always there to answer any questions. Super helpful with any recommendations needed. Just full of Pura Vida. Also Maria who cleaned and brought us fresh towels etc is a lovely person. We really appreciated her work.
The cabin....basic but has everything. We stayed in Rosada Grand...so had 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Has coffee maker, toaster, oven, big fridge. Good wifi. Hammock on patio.
Recycling, regular and organic...which I appreciated, especially after spending 2 weeks in Florida with NO recycling. Costa Rica has an excellent recycling program.
No AC....which is a big step for me in 30c ! But really it was doable....fans. Quickly learnt to be like a sloth from 12-2. It does get a little cooler at night and sometimes we even needed a sheet. The patio area with hammock is cooler for a large part of the day. We could sit for hours just watching nature.
We were even lucky enough to get great neighbours in the other cabins and made new friends.
The gardens are beautiful, full of fruit and flowers and well maintained. We saw a sloth, who is still in the corner tree! The plant in front of us served as a giant bird bath after rain...so we saw many different birds, lots of humming birds. Also there is a resident poisonous arrow frog!
Of course there is the 5am howler monkey “alarm clock”, which I loved. We got up for a 5:30 walk before it got hot ..and to see the sunrise at the beach. Bliss.
Just minutes walk to the first beach, turning left at the road. Swam every day...watch the waves and rip tides. Very strong.
Short walk to all the restaurants, bank, groceries etc. SO many delicious food places for such a small town!
We rented a car from San José. It was good to have to drive down to Manzanilla (great beach for swimming) and check out the small towns. Visited Jaguar centre and Tree of Life. Walked the National Park from both entrances, amazing.
Please check out the Ara Project, Manzanilla ...an amazing experience with the giant Green Macaws.
(Tips... bring ear plugs...because NATURE.....and also a lot of barking dogs.
Make sure you note the two different voltage electrical plugs!!
Also if this is before you come to Costa Rica..and you like a drink...buy alcohol in the airport in duty free, before you go through customs. You can get 5 bottles per person...and it is WAY cheaper than buying it after. (They don’t seem to care how many bottles you buy)
I would definitely recommend staying in Cahuita and at Cabina Luna! Pura Vida!

Cabinas Caribe Luna was a fantastic place to stay. It’s within walking distance of all the beaches around Cahuita, the National Park, and all of the bars and restaurants.
The owners are incredibly hospitable, friendly, and eager to make your stay pleasant. Our cabin had a mini fridge, toaster, coffee maker, and dishes. There was also a ceiling fan and floor fan which was necessary as the heat in Cahuita can be oppressive.

This place has it all! It's located in an area that's close enough to visit everything in the area. In the morning, they provide light snacks (toast, eggs and fresh fruit) and coffee/tea. The hosts are some of the best I've encountered in my budget travels. The gentleman (David) sat down with us in the beginning and explained everything we can see or do during our stay. He even suggested some great places to eat. The lady (Enrica) greeted us immediately upon our arrival with a warm smile and was willing to sit down for kind chats and great suggestions. The rooms are large, have ensuite bathrooms and are clean with patios that have sitting room (hammock included). If you're looking for a place that feels like home, look no further. You will find it and more in Cabinas Caribe Luna.
