It was a great stay and everything went well. The hosts were very helpful and provided all the information we needed. I would only recommend hosts to consider a vegan option for their breakfast menu and a change to the main mattress.
Amazing hosts! French family who love what they do and make you feel right at home. They gave us a full introduction on the region and all its possibilities and sights. We followed their advice on many of the suggestions on restaurants and tours and were always very happy! Breakfast is definitely worth having at least once during your stay to try the home made treats based on local produce (mango jam, fresh daily juice, etc). It is preferable to have a car in the region (parking available at the hotel) but if not, the hosts offer shuttle service to the national park of Cahuita and the local bus stop is not far.
Small intimate hotel, rooms are clean staff is very friendly and helpful if some information about the area is needed. Good location near the entrance to Cahuita national park. Excelent value overall.
I went to the South Caribbean zone of Costa Rica to do business, not for pleasure. Though, we do not want a luxurious hotel, we rather be in a standard place. This hotel is well located, near to Puerto Vargas protected area (walking distance to the entrance) and not far away from Puerto Viejo and Cahuita downtown areas. I recommend the hotel strongly, mainly because the French couple that administrate the business are really amazing. Mateo is outstanding.
This was our first stop in Costa Rica and it was good. Location just outside the village is fine and the rooms were clean. The bathroom and shower were simple but working. Good air conditioning which is important. French breakfast is also basic but good.
Excellent value. The hotel staff are very helpful and the hotel provides good facilities with a pool and library. The rooms are clean and the hotel has a separate kitchen. The kitchen is very handy for cooking snacks, hot drinks, and so on. The hotel is competitively priced and close to the Cahuita National Park. Recommended.
We stayed 3 week in this hotel and we had a wonderful time well situated between cahuita and puerto viejo. The place is really beautyful, the commune kitchen is well equiped and their pet are lovely. The room was very clean and freshly paint. The owners are wonderful people and they are always here to help you. Pura vida ;)
We did a quick visit to the South Caribbean area while attending a family event and took one night at this place. It's a low budget place, rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable enough. Having the main road just in front, might be an issue for someone looking for a quite place. The swimming pool is not big but is good to get relaxed. Attention from the staff it's just the average... owners will inform you about their facilities into the property but the smiles are limited, probably due the low rates. So all in all it's good place if you are in a hurry or looking for save some $, but if you really like to enjoy the experience and happiness into the beautiful Costa Rican south Caribbean, could be better look for other alternatives ;)
We really loved our stay in this hotel. The owner was very friendly and gave us a lift to the entrance of Cahuita park so that we didn't have to take a cab. The room was clean and spacious and the pool and Jacuzzi were awesome. It also has hammocks to relax all around and nice flowers. I would definitely stay again!
We stayed 4 nights at el Colibri Rojo. The rooms are not that big, but ok. There were many many ants in the room and in my bed. Another thing, the owner has 2 dogs, big ones. For me, not really a dog liker, I could not really appreciate it when the dogs were hanging around when I'm having my dinner or breakfast. However, the dogs are friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect, right next to the National Park. Also, what I really loved, besides the friendly and very helpful staff, was the common kitchen. Very well equiped and perfect for preparring your dinner, lunch of breakfast. The first morning, we took the breakfast of the hotel, but this was very dissapointing. Just a piece of bread with marmelade and some fruit. Therefore, we decided to prepare the breakfast ourselves. But besides that, a very nice hotel with a lovely pool. The kids especially loved swimming in the dark with the pool lights on.…
