The property is surrounded by lush gardens maintained by the owner. It is quiet and peaceful, yet Silvio and Mely are available at any time for assistance. The rooms are spacious, but we didn’t spend much time inside since our porch had seating to enjoy the outdoors and the gardens. It is a short 3km trip to Cahuita, but we found the food at Caribbean Coconut to be better than the restaurants in town! This is a perfect hotel for single travelers or couples, but probably not children. We will definitely be back; I would be perfectly content staying here for an even longer trip.

This is a charming, well appointed place and we were happy with it until we came back our room and realized it was filled with cigarette smoke from our neighbor coming in from our open bathroom window. Even though we closed the window and turned on the AC at that point, it was too late. I would still recommend it, but just ask to be far away from the (resident) smoker if you're not one yourself.

We enjoyed our spacious and quiet 2 room bungalow with a sitting room. The pool was a treat after a warm bike ride around town. Mellie is a gracious host and makes a tasty breakfast. I would stay here again.

My wife and I spent most our time in the more central mountainous region, but was recommended to at least spend couple of days on the beach. First time in CR and not knowing what to expect... it was quaint. All of the “hotels” in this area are more like motels. The Coconut has a cute little pool and the rooms are decent! The beach experience was a bit different because we arrived post flooding due to a month of rain, so the nice tables and chairs by the beach were all ruined. We were able to carry a couple of lounge chairs by the pool to the beach and so that was nice. We essentially had the entire beach to ourselves. I think the Cahuita region is more for younger backpackers who don’t mind roughing it a bit. If you lean towards more of an All-Inclusive style of convenience and comfort, this side of CR isn’t it. The nature is beautiful, but that’s what you come here for. From the Coconut, it’s about a 5min taxi ride to “downtown” Cahuita for restaurants, shops, pharmacy, and bank. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the in-house food was delicious. I would have rated it higher if we would have been able to enjoy their full beach side offerings, but sadly we couldn’t and it’s not Coconut’s fault.

This is a small hotel where the rooms are like your own small oasis with a porch to enjoy the outside sounds. The Owner and the staff are friendly and provided great service. The food is absolutely excellent. Will definitely keep this in mind for future visits to the Cahuita area of the Caribbean side of Costa Rica.

I love this place. It feels like a sanctuary. Flowers growing all around me, my own lovely front porch, tiled, with 2 big cushioned rocking chairs and a table for my coffee- a hammock as well if I want to lay back and listen to the birds and other wildlife around me.. comfortable bed, small fridge, air-conditioning, but the room has nice high ceilings and an overhead fan as well so you don't really need it. The beach is right across the quiet street-. This is a peaceful, restful place. And the food is simple and tasty. Breakfast comes with the room- dinner is very reasonably priced. I look forward to coming back for a few days to enjoy the peace. -

Recently I took a group of people to Cahuita and rented several rooms in this hotel. I must say that the manager Melly was gracious and pleasant. She went above and beyond when it came to service and making sure everyone was satisfied. One thing you don't see online about this hotel is that there is a not only Carribean Chef but also Italian Chef right there at your fingertips. Melly prepared fresh made from scratch meals for all of her guests promptly and even people from nearby hotels came for dinner. If you stay at this hotel and do not allow Melly to cook for you, then you have missed out on not just a meal but a total food experience. Everyone enjoyed her food, and we're sure to eat there the following night. The rooms were very comfortable and it was a very intimate and quaint experience. You must appreciate this spot. The beach nearby is like a private beach. This place is a must visit.

Melly is the lady who runs this hotel. She cooks breakfast and dinner. Everything she cooks is so favorable. Each of the six rooms have a lush tropical planting’s outside of the windows for privacy. There are big heavy rockers on the outside porches and some of the rooms have hammocks. At night you can hear the howler mommies. During daily walks you can see sloths in the trees. Right in front of the hotel through a lush garden of tropical plants is the beach. There is a pool. Each room is air conditioned. Rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable

My husband and father-in-law and I stayed for 5 nights and really enjoyed our time. The rooms were updated, tastefully decorated, and immaculate with fresh flowers every day. Sylvio and Mellie were very hospitable and helpful, and gave us great suggestions for activities.

A lovely little oasis right by the beach. This felt more like a bed and breakfast in that the service was so friendly and personal. Meals were excellent. Melitta is a wonderful cook and a pleasant and very helpful hostess. The rooms are spotless and the property well taken care of. Nice touches like fresh flowers in the room and homemade breakfasts (included) with an abundance of beautiful fresh fruit. A bit of a walk into town if you don't have a car (which we did). The rocking chairs and hammocks were well used by us - so nice to just sit on the lanai and enjoy the lovely surroundings. Would definitely stay here again.
