A nice environment with nice bird life and friendly staff. BUT The chalet is old, I'll kept and not as clean as I'd expect. The chalet walls are paper thin, trucks are heard passing by all night long, There is no hot water in the sink or shower. The furniture is old with no support left in it. Like sitting on board. The beds are hard and the sheets to small for the bed. The fridge had been turned off and was moldy in side. If you are looking for a hostel type stay this place is fine, otherwise I would not recommend this place.

We had a pleasant one night stay in what felt like a brand new cabin. It was modern and comfortable although the room felt a bit sparse (no bedside tables or lamps). There was no fan in the room but the weather was cool for our stay so not a problem. Also no safe or hairdryer. The balcony was fabulous. We saw a few agoutis and lots of birds (including a couple of toucans on the tree right outside the cabin) which was special. We did the half day rafting excursion with Esteban and Bernie which was awesome fun! I was a little nervous as I’d never done it before but within a couple of minutes on the water I was loving it! Esteban was a fantastic guide and explained everything and gave excellent instructions which definitely made it a memorable and exciting adventure. (Recommendation of Los Gallitos in San Miguel was brilliant. We had a delicious meal of slow roasted pork. About a 5 minute drive from the lodge).

Epic was the first stop in our 1100 km journey around CR. The driveway is a bit hard to find and I was happy we rented a 4x4. Once there we were escorted to our cabin that was perched on the side of a hill. The view was breathtaking! The room/cabin was like something out of a movie. Stunning! It has a nice little inground pool and an enormous property that leads down to a river. It was a very laid back and easy going place, and they do run white water rafting tours from the location,. The staff were delightful and friendly the property is beautiful and the area is incredible. ,

Where to start? Epic was our first stop on a whirlwind 14 day tour of Costa Rica. Our cabina was perfect! It had the comfiest bed, a lovely bathroom with hot water, and a small kitchenette. Our terrace overlooked the valley, and was the perfect place to relax with a coffee or glass of wine. The owners are developing this property to be an awesome eco experience, with the plantings of many beautiful trees and shrubs that attract birds and wildlife. We saw many birds, and the cutest Agouti while there! Whether you are looking for a room or a cabina, where you can here Howler Monkeys in the morning and birds all day long, and you will find total relaxation, this is the place to stay! Marcella's breakfasts are wonderful, and are served in the common area overlooking the valley. Our booking didn't include breakfast, but we were able to add it on, and enjoyed it very much. Next time, we will shop on the way though, and will make more use of our kitchenette. We did trail down to the river, and took the road back ... quite a hike, but worth it for the flora and fauna we encountered along the way. The pool was a very welcome respite when we got back hot and tired from our hike! The best description of our cabina and the lodge would be elegantly rustic!!! We will definitely stay here again when we are back in the Central Valley!!!

We (family of 4 w kids 18 & 16) stayed here in July for 1 night but should have stayed at least 2. The property is quite large, had a very nice pool with sunbeds and poolhouse with excellent showers. It also has a very nice garden with trees, BBQ place, hammocs, pond, etc. The rooms were big and clean and had a full blown kitchen which we didn't use, except for the fridge (which was really handy). The only point of critique we had was the electricity in the bathroom. This seems to be a common thing in Costa Rica as we saw it in all the B&Bs we stayed in, but we thought it was dangarous with electrical wires exposed close to the shower head). Internet was the best we had in Costa Rica: very fast & reliable with similar speed & bandwidth as at home (Belgium). Even managed to get some SAP work done over the internet. Streaming Netflix was not a problem. The common breakfast room is big; open to all 4 sides and offers a spectacular view of the mountains and garden. We saw 2x a Capibara walking through the garden as well as several beautiful birds. Breakfast was well done by our host: coffee, juice, toast, fruit, etc. We were late checking out (around 12.15 in the afternoon), but this was not a problem The property is +/- 15 mins drive from Tirimbina national park. All in all a wonderful place to spend a couple of days.
