This small hotel is REALLY a boutique hotel despite so many others purporting to be boutique. Only 5 rooms with “Sol y Mar” the best which is a suite, beautifully designed with a large terrace over looking the beach. Immaculately clean with terrific staff. Rooftop pool, which gets a bit hot with minimal shade during the afternoon, but who needs a pool with gorgeous Playa Hermosa just out the door. Wonderful location, quiet, great breakfast included with traditional and local items. This is a comfortable place to return to repeatedly! Muchas gracias, pura vida siempre.
Not sure where to start, but this is my 3rd time staying her and it is still by far my wife's and my favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. Roberto is a great host and his staff is amazing as always. The highlight of the stay was the rooftop dinner for my mother n law's birthday for 8 of us. It was a very special night and one our family will not forget. This place treats you like family. The food is amazing and we always have a great time when we stay here. We will be back for sure in the future.
We stayed 4 nights based on a recommendation from friends. La Gaviota is a wonderful boutique hotel located on the beach. Most units have a beach front location with large balconies overlooking the beach. We stayed on the Sol y Mar suite on the 3rd floor, the small elevator was a real plus. The suite had a wonderful large balcony with an ocean view. We had a sitting room and 1 and a half baths. There is a large soaking tub and a very nice double shower with plenty of hot water. The bed was firm and we liked that the bedroom was just off the balcony so we could hear the waves. Roberto’s restaurant on site was very good with 3 meals, breakfast is included with the room, and a nice selection of beverages. Our host, Roberto, was very gracious and helpful with local information and transportation accommodations. While the beach was ok, there isn’t much to say about the town, no shops or stores unless you walk up to the highway and uncollected trash everywhere. If you are looking for a nice beach hotel a short drive from the Liberia Airport La Gaviota Tropical is a nice option.…
My husband and I stated at La Gaviota for a total of 11 nights at the beginning and end of a 3-week trip to Costa Rica, and it was perfect. We picked it because it was right on a relatively quiet beach where there was plenty of shade and because it was small (only 5 rooms). The stunning rooftop pool was never busy. There were beach chairs available to use and we rented the kayak one day when the waves were calm. The restaurant, Roberto's was fantastic (breakfast was included). We stayed in two different rooms (La Playa on the 3rd floor which was large with a lovely balcony that had a nice view of the beach and Boaque Lluviosa on the second which was smaller with not much of a view but very comfortable with a frig which was useful). Both rooms were impeccably clean, with comfy beds and excellent showers. The staff were absolutely lovely - kind and helpful when needed, laidback when not. I got a massage from Carmen who is associated with the hotel - it was so good, I booked another one a few days later. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.…
