Great bar, restaurant and music. Clean rooms but faulty Wi-Fi. Friendly people but small outdated rooms. About a 1/2 mile hilly walk down to beach. Breakfast was decent and dinner and bar was good. Many other options that are closer to beach.
We had a terrible experience at the Bahia del Sol in Playa Potreo- we arrived only to find that almost the whole hotel was reserved for a wedding and were greeted by over 70 people in the pool and lawn area all drinking and dancing to a DJ with terrible booming music. We were not informed and we didn't want to stay there in the middle of someone else party. We went to the carpark to book a place to stay and found Villa del Sueno at the last minute. We drive the monkey trail and arrived at dusk, we missed out beach sunset.... The receptionist was calm, professional and friendly and spoke clearly to my elderly friend. We were able to sit down and have a glass of water on arrival. The room were were given was fantastic, super clean and close to the pool. Two bedrooms and a kitchen. All staff members were professional and friendly from the two guards we met to the workers in the restaurant. The live music was lovely, not overwhelming and added a great ambience. The food was delicious- we were ver hungry after our ordeal. The waiting staff in the restaurant were very attentive, addressed us by our names and it's the first time in Costa Rica I usted a butter knife! our water glasses were topped up often and we had a really nice evening. We can't wait to return and we are so glad that our trip worked out in the end after an ordinary start. Thank you to the receptionist Daniela, she was excellent. And the waiter Jairo. Gracias gracias gracias!…
This is a very nice, laid back hotel. Nice, clean rooms. Beautiful grounds! It has a nice restaurant on site. Good breakfast-included. The restaurant has live music some evenings during the week. Be prepared to pay American prices for the food and drinks. The pool is nice and relaxing. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are a few other restaurants along the beach, less expensive. The beach is typical, grey sand Costa Rican beach. It is clean, though, with nice views. Many locals are on the beach on weekends. I didn’t see a place where you can rent umbrellas and chairs, so you have to bring your own.
2 star hotel charged for 4 stars price. The room size was very small and bed size offered was single queen for two people and No headboard on the bed wall. Big Fire Red Ants” were everywhere in the bathroom, bedroom and on the bed mattress wall. These ants which bit people and can cause reactions. I have complainted to the front desk staff but the lady on the front desk - “Dianne” gave lame excuse, she said this is Costa Rica and bugs are very common everywhere!! We stayed at other hotels and Airbnb with no issues of bugs inside the property. (please see the picture). Not happy with our two nights stay. Dinner menu was limited options and dinner wasn’t really tasty. Alot of greens and surrounding of the property kept clean. The restaurant staffs are courteous and served us with a smile. The breakfast served was very good with options to choose.…
Dated rooms in need of a refresh. Wi-Fi didn’t work well the entire trip - social media barely even loaded. Couldn’t do a video call on it. Beds hard and old. Sheets were scratchy. Was in a junior suite. Breakfast was soso and service wasn’t great - had to ask for things 2-4x. Pool and grounds were very nice. The staff leaves at 10pm and they lock up so you have to find a security guard to be let back in. Overall just meh would not return. AC worked fine.
