Beautiful quiet property with a nice pool to relax at if you prefer that to the beach that is within walking distance. Rooms are small but very nice and clean. Staff are super attentive and customer service couldn’t be any better. The restaurant is phenomenal for dinner, and breakfast is included with your room. Special shout-out to Ronnie the bartender and Jorge the server for going above and beyond for us during our 2 night stay.
Very nice, very clean. Good hot water. Lovely grounds. Nice pool. Great included breakfast with 5 choices. Free towel use for either pool or the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. If coffee would have been available before 7 AM ore we had a coffee maker in our room ( we had to change rooms during our stay which was no problem for us at all: we had one in one of our rooms the other did not) I would have given them a straight 5 stars. I took a little off the rating for no early AM coffee.
We had a great time here. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was close to the beach and restaurants. Loved the breakfasts, a good variety. Dinner menu was good and food was excellent. Live entertainment over several nights during our stay. Last but not least was the staff, very welcoming and helpful. Jose Paulo and Adrian at the front desk, along with Leo and the staff in the restaurant/bar area made our trip very special. Thank you all, I am looking forward to returning to this location.
My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing stay at this hotel near the quiet but fun Playa Hermosa. Five minute walk to the south end of the beach. My wife and I often walked to the the north end of the beach for better people watching and access to a couple beach front bar/restaurants. The hotel staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. Took advantage of both the small pool near the main part of the hotel and a medium size pool closer to our room. Enjoyed live music 4 out of the 8 nights we stayed there. The included breakfast was a delightful way to start each morning in the outdoor restaurant patio. Easy drive to the more lively beach town of Playas del Coco. Would definitely stay hear again. Pro tip: if you enjoy the beach and want a beach chair, rent from nearby Mango Baby. The rent both beach gear and baby gear. We picked them up from their store front, but they would likely drop off for you. …
The restaurant staff is very cordial and they aim to please but I found the management staff rude and lazy. From the moment of arrival we had issues with our room availabilty on a reservation that was made weeks in advance and after a little back and forward we were informed that a king size bedroom was now available due to a family emergency of a former guest. The rest of the Check In didn't get any better and continued with what it felt like some fear mongering about tour services outside the hotel and suggesting to only use theirs, and to bring back the towels when really wet and dirty and that only one swimming pool was available to us. Next day I asked for a tour and I was told that this particular tour wasn't possible until four days later and I ended up booking it on my own outside the hotel without any issues. There are various tours and activities nearby that they don't offer and a simple Goggle search will solve it. So I decided to avoid the front desk and during my last night I went to get my room key and I was told..."no, you're going to sleep in your car. Hihihi, I'm just joking". I frankly hope that the management staff get to read this and understand that they play a major role on their guests overall experience during a vacation stay and that professiolanism and courtesy goes a long way. …
Staff was great. They were very friendly and accommodating to any of our requests. All of the people in Costa Rica have been wonderful. As for the hotel itself I would not stay here again for the following reasons. We moved rooms a total of 3 times. The first room 336 (all going to be mentioned are junior suites) was super outdated and at the end of the hotel grounds. It looked nothing like the pictures with a super tiny balcony and no furniture. They were kind enough to switch us to room 366 which was way different, bigger balcony, full kitchenette, over all no major complaints. The next day the AC went out and we were told we had to switch rooms because it defaulted completely. We got switched to room 372 and it was actually scary. There were droppings of some sort on the small counter offered, the bed, the balcony. Cooking utensils were scattered everywhere, no furniture besides bar stools and so many bugs. To top it off the TV didn’t work so they kindly moved us yet again to 337. Still some bugs and areas that looked like they needed deep cleaning, but still better than the last room and it was our last night so we were over it. To conclude, I would not stay here again. Too expensive for an obvious inconsistency in room quality throughout the hotel. We even got to see one of the villas to see if an upgrade would help and even those were not worth the price and also very old looking. Food on the menu was super expensive, didn’t try it but we passed by the restaurant and it looked just ok. There’s definitely an older crowd at the hotel. There are plenty of other options in the area that are worth the price tag.…
Stayed here for three nights early this month. Very easy to find, very clean, rooms just a little dated. Breakfast daily was very good and the entire staff was fantastic. The grounds are meticiously maintained and the pool was spotless. Met the owner and his wife (the executive chef) who were as friendly a couple as we've ever met anyplace in CR. Claudio(sp?) and Sylvia are great. The only thing we could have wished for would have been the restuarant to have been open every night. As it was, they were only open the last night we stayed and the food was fantastic. The Italian sausage in the sausagechicken/pasta dish was the real deal. The location is so close to the beach, that not only do you not need to drive/park, but you can walk barefoot very easily both ways. We will definately be visting again.…
We had a wonderful and comfortable stay in one of the 2nd floor villas. They are big, spacious and clean. The wifi worked really well. The beach is just a short and scenic walk away and the pool area is a great, sunny place to hang out when you feel lazy to walk down to the beach. The sunsets were beautiful. The only complaint was that there was a fish smell coming out of the kitchen sink the entire time, even though we did not cook any fish or seafood. We told the management about it but there wasn’t anything they could do.
Great bar, restaurant and music. Clean rooms but faulty Wi-Fi. Friendly people but small outdated rooms. About a 1/2 mile hilly walk down to beach. Breakfast was decent and dinner and bar was good. Many other options that are closer to beach.
We had a terrible experience at the Bahia del Sol in Playa Potreo- we arrived only to find that almost the whole hotel was reserved for a wedding and were greeted by over 70 people in the pool and lawn area all drinking and dancing to a DJ with terrible booming music. We were not informed and we didn't want to stay there in the middle of someone else party. We went to the carpark to book a place to stay and found Villa del Sueno at the last minute. We drive the monkey trail and arrived at dusk, we missed out beach sunset.... The receptionist was calm, professional and friendly and spoke clearly to my elderly friend. We were able to sit down and have a glass of water on arrival. The room were were given was fantastic, super clean and close to the pool. Two bedrooms and a kitchen. All staff members were professional and friendly from the two guards we met to the workers in the restaurant. The live music was lovely, not overwhelming and added a great ambience. The food was delicious- we were ver hungry after our ordeal. The waiting staff in the restaurant were very attentive, addressed us by our names and it's the first time in Costa Rica I usted a butter knife! our water glasses were topped up often and we had a really nice evening. We can't wait to return and we are so glad that our trip worked out in the end after an ordinary start. Thank you to the receptionist Daniela, she was excellent. And the waiter Jairo. Gracias gracias gracias!…
