We were on a trip with our son and daughter in law and they left to go home so we decided to go up to Hermosa for few days. What a great place. The staff is 2nd to none. They treat you like a friend from the start. The food is beyond good. The grill night was excellent. And then you have the beach! Beautiful little cove. My wife and I walked it every morning. Plus the sunset is one of the best you can find. To top it off they had live music 2 nights while we were there. I can't say enough about this little hotel. A true gem. Amazing!!

We were looking for a reasonably priced accommodation a short drive from Liberia airport and close to the beach to relax for 2 nights after a long travel day. For us this was the perfect find- and right on the beach. The property is very clean, our room ample size (but small bathroom), comfortable king bed, with a small fridge and microwave. Because we are such early risers it would have been great to have a coffee maker in the room, but the restaurant opens at 7am which is plenty early fo most people. We were there for BBQ night and had the grilled tuna, outstanding meal. Delicious breakfast as well. Every staff person from the owner to housekeeping were warm and friendly. We had an amazing holiday at this hotel. All the staff are so pleasant and happy to help with anything. We had our beach wedding here too and the staff pulled out all the stops to make our day as amazing as it was. The rooms are clean and comfortable and you can hear the waves whilst laying in bed. The beach is lovely and full of wildlife with monkeys being a regular feature near the hotel and big iguanas visiting for a drink. Having breakfast and dinner right on the beach was lovely. There is kayaking and boat trips from the beach there and we saw rays and puffer fish etc when snorkeling. A big thank you to Mike and Crystal and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

This hotel is in great location, right on the beach in a beautiful cove and only 25 minutes from the airport which was great since we had an 8 am flight and had to return the car rental. The pool was unimpressive and right beside the eating area so didn’t bother especially with the ocean right there. The room was adequate except for the scratching coming from the roof which we hope was a bird lol. It was amazing to wake up early for our flight and hear the howler monkeys. Our room was on the second floor and getting our luggage up the winding staircase was a little difficult so if can get main floor. Overall a nice quaint hotel reasonably priced with amazing access to the beach.

Cute little beachfront hotel with great restaurants on either side of the hotel for beachfront drinks (Roberto’s and Aquasport - both great but really loved the drinks at Roberto’s). Amazing view! Felt safe walking around the area. Met the owner Mike - awesome guy who’s very knowledgeable of the area, and he spays/neuters the homeless beach dogs and cats to help control population (we fed them our leftovers down on the beach away from the hotel restaurant since apparently some people don’t like doggos mooching at the tables 😆). Not a Ritz Carlton, but clean, hot water, excellent AC, super friendly bar staff, and adorable little touches by the housekeepers. Try the pineapple pancakes for breakfast 🍍 We loved it!

This was our 4th visit to this hotel and we are already planing out return trip for 2022. The rooms and hotel are basic but very clean. The hotel is right on the beach with a restaurant on site. There are 2 other hotels on the beach which are nicer but what keeps us coming back is the staff. They are very friendly and accommodating to our requests.. I would rate this 10 stars in service. I have stayed at much fancier hotels where I have not this type of service. The waiters even come out to the beach to see if we needed anything. The food is also very good especially bar b que nights and the surf and turf from the regular menu. The hotel owner Mike also arraigned for a doctor to come do our Covid test on site so we didn’t have to leave the hotel.

Mike and his staff at El Velero hotel made our stay so comfortable. The rooms are extremely clean and there are beach towels to exchange for new ones daily. The atmosphere is very festive, fruit drinks made fresh daily and a fish grill on Wednesday & Saturday nights with the fresh catch was delicious. My son left his favorite teddy bear in the bed by accident and Mike even figured out a way to deliver him to the states. All around a really easy stay and the room price can not be beat!

Highly recommend… My husband and I stayed in this beachfront hotel for four nights and loved it. This is a hidden gem. Mike, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. I corresponded and booked with him directly. He was very responsive to my inquiries and granted my request for an oceanview room. Our room was cute and had a/c and refrigerator. When we arrived, we were welcome with honeymoon heart shaped towels. We were glad that the hotel has a restaurant and we ate there for breakfast and dinner. The restaurant had taco night and BBQ night. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved watching beautiful sunsets everyday. During our stay, I finally had a relaxing massage thanks to Mike who has many contacts. He also recommended a Captain for our snorkeling trip.

Had another amazing vacation at Hotel El Velero! Located right on one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. Sunsets, snorkeling, swimming, and boogie boarding are steps from the hotel room. The friendly and hardworking staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed or wanted. Mike the hotel owner is very entertaining and knowledgeable. He had all the best advice on what local activities were a must see and do. The food at the hotel is extremely fresh, delicious and authentic! Best tacos ever on Tuesday's! I could hear the monkeys while swimming in the pool. Tropical paradise! My husband and I love it there and cannot wait to go back.

Beach front!!! The owner and staff are great people and the service is second to none! The food is excellent and the kitchen was very accommodating to my fiancée vegetarian diet. Everything was amazing and we can not wait to return! The only complaint that we had was that the week...went by too fast!! This is an amazing hotel directly on Hermosa Beach, with great food, clean rooms and a hard working staff...If you want a Costa Rican experience...This is your place!
