The service and set-up outside was amazing and the appetizers and most dishes were really delightful. We were able to sample just about everything. We enjoyed every bit of it except the steak. The steak was listed as an angus but tasted more like a sirloin. My husband’s and mine also came out very over cooked and I couldn’t eat it. We however had a large party of 12 so that can happen. With so many other tasty offerings, I’d stick with those instead of the steak.

My wife and I had a destination wedding at their beach club 5 years ago and it was great. This was my wife and I 3rd visit and our kids 2nd. This was all of our first time staying at the condos and it was great!! The only small issue is the roaming security can be a little heavy with putting people out the pool at closing. Not only would I stay again but I am considering purchasing a condo.

Rented a great house with friends. Cost a bundle though. Went once to beach club where they wanted $50 per person access fee then didn't have enough loungers for us. Did a nature hike and saw no wildlife. Saw lots of birds in back yard of rental property. Property came with golf carts otherwise we would have been stranded. Long distance to front gate and town.

The name can throw you off a bit. It is not actually a resort. It is a condo development, a 25 minute walk away from the beach club. The beach club is what is located on the water. It is very nice, but a bit far to walk and the shuttle runs 4 times a day, which isn't really that convenient, that being said, if they were to have an on-call shuttle between the two, the place would then be perfect. The construction is great. We were staying in an amazing 3 bed room 2 bath place. The AC was central and worked well. The pool, the security, the amenities were all great.

We went there for 5 days in late January, 2008. The good: 1. Pool was very nice, very clean, well maintained. 2. Other then a very strong musty smell, the rooms were very clean and our two bedroom villa was large. Maid service only on weekends. 3. The view of the ocean - unbelievably outstanding. Two private beaches. We went to other hotels and none had the view that we did. All rooms have either a balcony or an outside area that faces the ocean. 4. Monkeys in the trees outside, coati's (type of raccoon) would come up to us at breakfast to be fed by hand. Large lizards would walk by. 5. Majority of the staff was very friendly and would do whatever they could to respond to our requests. The bad: 1. Emails were never responded to - we had to call several times to book the room and then when we called to confirm they had no idea who we were. 2. We got there late at night and they were waiting for us. Our first room was very very musty smelling with water pouring from the ceiling. They were very responsive and moved us after an hour, but the room they moved us to was very musty smelling as well (in a different building.) Everytime you walk in from outside it was a strong odor. 3. The 2 bedroom 'villas' are very large. The kitchen is that in name only - a microwave and a minifridge, but no utensils, oven, plates, etc. The website advertises a full kitchen with stove, coffeepot, etc. but neither of our rooms had any of that, only a minifridge and a microwave. They were doing renovation so maybe we got two of the older rooms, but for coffee each morning we had to walk to the restaurant/bar and wait until they opened up at 7am. Beds weren't very comfortable but they sufficed. 4. We never had any hot water the entire time - we were told they were replacing the hot water tank. For the 4 days we were there it was never fixed. 5. We did the all-inclusive (not by choice, that's all we were offered, told that Bed & Breakfast listed on website wasn't an option.) The food was very basic, nothing outstanding but definitely not bad either. Three meals a day offered, no snacks anywhere to be found. There were only 3 alcohols offered under the all-inclusive and one type of local keg beer (and it wasn't Imperial - it was something very light and cheap tasting.) 6. Maid service only on weekends. To get anything you have to walk up to the reception desk and ask. They are very responsive and friendly however. 7. Bar closed down at 10pm, once even at 9:30pm. We got in on a Friday night about 10:05pm and wanted a drink but the bar was closed. It took about 30 minutes just to get a couple bottled waters. 8. Very very hard to find although I was told repeatedly prior to arrival that there are many signs and it's easy to find. It's down an unmarked road. Once you pass Playa Hermosa, but before Playa Panama, it's down an unmarked two-laned paved road to the left. The first night we were a little worried, by the end of the trip we were happy there. I really can't overstate how beautiful it was. We spent the majority of the time either at the bar/restaurant area, or just sitting on the balcony looking over the bay.

Our internet went down so we couldn’t make reservations and heard about Costa Blanca from an expatriate in Miami Airport. We ignored all the warnings and rented a car (delivered to Costa Blanca for free). Costs all inclusive no more than $50 a day (Dollar rental car). Costa Blanca staff ratio was about 4:1!!!! We had the whole resort to ourselves!!! Pool, Jacuzzi. If you need anything, just ask! The locals are so very nice. Brush up on your Spanish and they’ll appreciate it! Tip heavily because they only make $15 a day (10-12 hour shifts 6 days a week—no labor laws so the locals are exploited by money hungry proprietors. One more thing—rent a car! Rent a car! They drive better than we do in the DC area! We drove at night, day, in the rain, across rivers—no problems! Not one bad area in Guancaste—except TAMARINDO BEACH—stay away from there. They only have a good website. It’s muddy with drugs and drunks and smells. The slums with a good website to try to lure you into that hole. GO TO COCO BEACH AND EAT AT COCO PALMS for 5 star California Sushi/Sashimi/Catch of the day or anything cuisine. 5+ stars better than any food here in the states!!! American/Canadian owned. We explored hundreds of miles. Coco beach is nice. We drove to Oceonal to see the turtles (2 ½ hour hellride on dirt roads and almost lost the car in a higher-than normal river we were advenurous and didn't mind a few mishaps; if your're conservative, wait for another car to cross and wait for you in case you have problems. It ended up we weren't let onto Oceonal beach at nightfall--turtle time because the guides went home for a couple hours--we were on Costa Rica time (prepare for a laid back time schedule). We saw tons of animals all over the place, went to a butterfly farm and animal rescue center. Don’t fall for the tour guide rip-offs in the beach towns. Talk to the people working at the hotel and they can arrange you a better deal. Everyone gets a referral fee for everything so everyone is motivated to helping you have fun. At $15 dollars for a 10 hour day, a tour referral can bring food to their table! The locals are proud people and mostly honest. I drove all week without my driver license. If you forgot yours, a $5 or a $20 will suffice for the police. Only petty police corruption there. If you’re into drugs or child porn, prepare to go to jail for life. If you run from the cops for a speeding violation, a $20 will do you and them just fine. The police are more worried about the big picture, so I’m not against the petty police payoffs, although we never got stopped, we heard about a high speed chase that ended suddenly with an American $20 and everyone went home smiling. Please tip the locals heavily! I don’t pay churches here in the states; I’d rather see where it’s going rather than to a corrupt US church. We paid for a month’s food for one guy’s kids. Car rental was easy; they dropped it off at the hotel. Driving was easy—brings detailed maps. Make a wrong turn and people will help you out. Costa Blanca rooms was clean. A suite with a shower, table, sink, couches for $80 a night! Private beaches (we were the ONLY one’s on the beach the whole time) If you want a private vacation close to everything, Costa Blanca is it! From the airport, have a cab bring you there, the next day, call dollar rentacar and they’ll bring you a car. Howler monkeys woke us up each morning for photos at 5:30am. We fed the friendly raccoons, iguanas, tenausaurs and pisote’s by hand! We went to Rincon de la Vieja with a private guide (our bartender on his day off). $85 a person will get you a horseback ride, zipline tour, hot springs, mud bath and a couple dollars you can have the massage of your life with a Jacuzzi bath, music all while watching the waterfall from the serene rooms. The people in Costa Rica are so very kind and helpful. Very family oriented culture. Most go to church. If you have any questions, hyena@qis.net and I can tell you more. I know locals who have inheritance land for pennies to the advertised rates down there. You can save about $10k per hectare. If you buy land, it’s yours. Just like the US. You pay taxes there and you get a tax credit here (tax treaty with the US). Best regards, Rob

This is a really nice resort. The rooms we stayed in had a one bedroom with kitchen. Sort of like a suite. All of the rooms have balconies with ocean views. The grounds of the resort are very big, but not that big that you feel lost. The bar and eating area is nice. The resort is located in a secluded area and is very quiet. If you are looking for a lively place, stay somehwere else. If you are looking for a nice laid back place then this one is for you.
