Stayed here for one night in a 4 bed mixed dorm but since there were four of us we filled the room. Really nice clean room, less than a five minute walk to the beach and really lovely, welcoming owners! Would definately recommend and stay again!
We spent two nights here. Nice and quiet campground two minutes from the beach and five minute walk to some great restaurants. Friendly owners. Lots of squirrels, bird and monkeys in the trees. Be advised; is is also a popular place for locals to camp out and bbq on a Saturday morning (very nice atmosphere). They start quite early, but not before the howler monkeys have woken you up. Overall great place to spend a couple of days
I spend in Congo's Hostel and Camping about 1 mounth and I felt like in home. A very nice place for backpackers. Marco and Anayansi (owners) are helpful. Many tourists from around the world. One day I want to back!
The thing that I loved most about Congo's was how close it was to the beach. It took maybe a minute to walk there. When you do this, be sure to remember where you accessed the beach as at night, for me, it was a struggle to find it. The kitchen area was nice, the hammocks were good too, and there was a lovely area outside to sit at. You could hear the howler monkeys (I did not see them), but I did see a vey large orange iguana going up the tree. It was a very neat place. The owner didn't speak a lot of English so I had to use an app for other words to communicate with her. As well, when I checked in, my reservation from Hostel World could not be found. I had to show her my booking on my phone and then paid the remainder. If you book independently (through her), it will be less. The room was small with two bunk beds. There were no lockers, but there was a lock on the door. There were some bugs in the bathroom, but it wasn't too bad. I would still stay here again. There were tours offered through the hostel. The $30 snorkelling was not good snorkelling at all (the guy walks the beach and gets people to join), but the island we went to, the pineapple, and the boat ride were all fun. We were soaked from the waves on the way back. I also noticed a tour to falls near Liberia (Cortez) for $70. From Liberia you can do this tour on your own through public transportation and maybe costs $3 USD. Be sure to know which street you need to walk down from the public transportation before you get here. It is down a hill and was a good workout for me. I wish I could share the details but am not sure now.…
Nice and lovely place just near the beach. Here it is like a family. The garden is beautiful and bedrooms are clean. Kitchen open on the living room. You will enjoy this place because it is so quiet and relax.
I loved my experience at Congo's for several reasons...Great Location (1 minute walking from the beach), clean and confortable sharing bed rooms with A/C, wild animals (owler monkeys) and firendly pets (dogs and cat), relaxing hammocks,... but the I left a piece of my heart there because of the most amazing receptionist ever! LUCIA!!! She works really hard and she always has a big smile on her face! I met also a lot of nice guests to, experimenting with them everyday a different beach in the surroundings, Playa Hermosa is the closest, it's really long and nice to walk all day long there, nicest sunset too! Other very impressive beaches are Arenilla, Panama, Playa Bonita and Ocotal...all reachable by bus or hich-hicking..beacause it's really safe to go around! I would definetely come back at Congo's again and again and again! To find TOTAL RELAX and Friends!…
A great place to stay meet people and spend a few nights. There is free wifi a shared kitchen but only about 4 or 5 rooms. If you want to get away relax at a no pressure Beach and just unwind check out this place
We stayed in a dorm room, although we were the only two staying at the time so had it to ourselves. The room itself is quite run down and basic, but has all that you need. The AC works great too. A few ants in the bathroom but not too much to worry about. The kitchen area is very well stocked, and is a good place to cook, sit and relax. Anna, the owner, is very nice and did all she could to help us while we were there. Very near to the beach, so great location, with monkeys in the trees above the house! Don't spend much time at playa hermosa itself, go to playa bonita, about 20 mins towards playa Panama. Beautiful beach
The home-owners (this is not a hostel) are very friendly but this is the only positive note, unfortunately (and it's close proximity to the beach). They advertised Free Breakfast and during our 3 day/night stay we were never offered breakfast. The maid was very sweet but not once did she come and clean our room. Our bathroom was infested with ants and had giant cockroaches. It seemed as though they didn't care too much about their guests at all. At night, the family would be yelling, talking loud and laughing obnoxiously. No respect for travellers. When we first arrived he said he would bring us to the airport when we needed to be there for our departure. "I can only bring you at 8am" (our flight was at 1:30pm). Because our stay was horrible, we ended up spending our 4th night in a hotel down the road.…
Me and my wife stayed here during our cycling tour through Central America. It is a beautiful little Hostel close to the beach with a nice garden with hammocks. Small but nice little rooms. Very relaxed atmosphere and highly recommended. The owners are very friendly and helpfull. We felt at home immediatly! Thanks a lot!
