At check in the reception was a guy by himself who said that there were no expected check in’s. I said I booked 6 hours ago with priceline. He said sorry I don’t know what that is. I asked him to check the computer to see my reservation. His response was I don’t do that. My boss calls me when there is a reservation. No computer. No system. No workers. No bar. No restaurant. No toilet paper. Dirty walls. Severely in need of repairs and maintenance. This was possibly a nice place many years ago. Now it’s a don’t even bother kind of place. If Priceline policy on change or cancel was different, I would have left after the reception refused to look for for my reservation. Complete waste of my money and more importantly my time.

This is a resort mostly for locals - reception speak limited english and there is no concierge. WIFI is also limited mostly to the reception area. BEWARE - there are 2 sections to this "resort"/abnb - the reception side has cleaner, more modern rooms. The other, I refer to as road side motel, is old and things have not been updated for quite sometime - they put me there 1st. Luckily, I met someone on my way there who already warned me that one side is not so nice. The guy at reception was pretty accommodating. When I asked for a different room on the other side, he just agreed. People here in Costa Rica are super friendly. It is just our awareness of how things work.

We stayed at this "resort" for 2 months. This is not a resort! I would classify this place as a motel with 2 pools, There are no resort activities. The rooms are all in need of updating and repair. No one does inventory between guests, so many items are missing or ancient. Refrigerators leak and air conditioners leak. Expect huge puddles in your room for days. The amenities listed that are supposed to come with the unit are not correct. We had no beach blanket, umbrella, hangers, salt and pepper or oil, and they provided a half roll of toilet paper on the first day and a tiny bar of soap. Those are never replenished. Before arriving, we were told that there was consistent wifi in the lobby area. I was working there, so needed reliable internet access. The internet was unreliable work was nearly impossible. We had an issue with a leaking air conditioner for six days. The bed is directly under the unit, so was soaked through. The manager's solution was to put a garbage can under the dripping air conditioner. The manager was extremely unprofessional in his interactions with us, never offering to move us to a different room until we told him we wanted a new air conditioner after six days of being inconvenienced. There is no information in the room or in the lobby about how to contact management while staying at the resort. There is no list of emergency phone numbers or what to do in case of emergency.

I can only say what I percieve to be true about this place. This is a rinkydink operation that should not be allowed to call itself a resort. There is a tiny lobby with nobody on the reception desk and a generally rundown look everywhere. The pool is tiny and the bar around the pool has been closed for years. There is no gift shop, no restaurant, and wifi olny in the lobby. The walk up to the property from the main road is almost a 45 degree slope and would challange all but the fittest person. Some of the photos used to advertise this property are not the Flamingo Marina Resort. They are photos of the privately owned condominiums at the beach level below this resort. They also advertise access to a private beach which is also used by the condominium clients and, the locals have every right to use that beach too and they do. So, not so private. Most of that beach is dangerously rocky and often very rough anyway. Oddly, the flamingo Marina Resort has no Marina. There is a marina being built down the road but it has nothing to do with this resort. The noise and dust from that marina construction was horrible. Trucks were dumping rocks all day every day. The construction is supposed to take years. Some of the reviews that I have read about Flamingo Marina Resort are actually written about the private comdominiums, which are very nice but they are a completely different business. Read carefully! Really folks, there is nothing resort-like about this place. It is in decline. Don't be tempted by their lower prices, there is a good reson why they are lowering prices. It is way over priced for what you get.

Dont book a room here! The room we were given was not the room we booked. This was easily seen since this room was very torn down and there was a CONSTRUCTORAL difference, it did not have the VALTED ROOF, nor the GLAS DOOR in the living room. More over: - It lacked the aircon in the living room - It lacked plants and paintings - It lacked the armchairs - It lacked the sofa table - Furnitures were very old and torn But worse was that the appartment was very very dirty. Even though the receptionist claimed they had just been there cleaning when we checked in, there was a trail of ants in the kitchen by the sink clibing around on the kitchen bench. The outside of the once white cupboards were brownish of dirt. It was dust on the shelfs and the duvet in the bed had large brown stains. It was also a hole in the closet and a hole in the roof outside the door. I would say that this place was a dump... Also, the pool bar, restaurant and dance floor had been permanently closed. Seemed like a dirty ghost hotel from the 70’s. Since we are travelling with a 9 months baby and need to cook we showed the receptionist the ants etc and asked if she ad another room available (the one we booked that obviously was given to someone else). Unfortunatelly she had nothing to offer us so we had to check out and leave since it was already late.... and we still had to pay 200$ for a place we couldnt stay at! Horrible Hotel that shouldnt continue to scam people!

My husband and I had a live in private chefs position for a week here. This resort used to be a hotel and it shows.Sadly the reminisces of the long closed hotel are still here.An unstaffed reception,A closed boutique store and restaurant. It was a bit sad.Flamingo was once full of thriving hotels which have now been turned into huge condos. That being said,Flamingo Marina was a great experience. The condos are beautiful. The grounds are right on the beach and lovely for walks or sunset. The pool was beautiful, but again, the thatched beach bar is long closed. It would be lovely to see it opened again. You need a wristband to use the pool but again,we didn't see anyone who would verify that. The pool, although incredible was mostly empty but the views are spectacular even if a poolside Marguerita was missing and a closed restaurant that could have added that special touch. If you want to buy up a little piece of paradise,Flamingo has it all, even if the marina resort hasn't.

As Americans we forget that not everything is at our fingertips and we go to another country. With that said. You have to have the amenities that people advertise such as propane in the gas grill, Wi-Fi internet, and how about locking doors. Those are just some things that are a must when you advertise them. You should never have any trouble. Ther main issue is it was listed by a company who knows nothing about the property. The pool they sent me pictures of was of someone else's...somewhere else in another location. Not the one we were staying at. With all that said though we did everything we could to make it work and we did just fine. But I'm sure there's better updated locations even though the view was amazing.

This is a great location with beautiful bay views from the rooms and outdoor balcony. Sunrise scenes were amazing. The private beach was very pleasant with wonderful swimming, and the beautiful Playa Flamingo is within walking distance. The manager was always available and very helpful with local recommendations and also helped when we had communication issues with a tour company. I would give this place 3 1/2 stars, but aren't able to give 1/2 stars on the Trip Adviser reviews. WiFi was only available in the lobby and pool area, but free. There is a lot of potential for this location, it would take some investment, but this could be a 5 star resort.

I'll break down this review based on pros and cons. Pros/cons on what the owner of the condo has/can do with respect to the property. Pros- the location is very close to several small beaches. Playa Potrero, Brasilito and Conchal are all within a 10-15min drive. Neither of those beaches was crowded. Tamarindo was barely a 30min drive away. More eating choices and shopping there. Playa Langosta in Tamarindo was an awesome beach with more people. The town is pretty much a tourist trap but you should expect that The condo itself(#612) is right off the beach, great views and enough space for me, the wife and our two adult kids. The condo was well stocked with dishes all though we chose not to cook during our stay. Washer/dryer also were a pretty nice amenity. The owners put a great deal of money in upgrading each of the 3 restrooms and the kitchen. Only two TVs, one in the master bedroom and one in the living area. We didn't come to watch TV so this wasn't an issue. Balcony in the master bedroom and the large balcony in the living room were awesome. Both king beds in the master and 2nd bedroom were pretty comfortable. Quite resort, barely anyone there during our stay. There was onsite "security". Guys in blue t-shirts that kept track on people coming and going. The images posted of the condo are filtered but for the most part are accurate. I'll post more in my "cons" section Cons- The walls need a fresh coat of paint. I understand we're in the tropics and right on the beach but the walls look weathered and should be painted every couple of years. The linens most be updated. The amount of money spent on renovating the bathrooms and kitchen shows the owners understand how important those rooms are for a quality vacation. The towels were hard and remind me of cheap gym towels from high school. Some had stains and one that was on display appeared to have melted plastic stuck to it. Imagine finding that out while you're drying off! The bed linens were old as well. in the master bed room the fitted sheet had napped up and the blanket had stains on it. Very unsightly. The 3rd bedroom with the twin beds were incredibly hard. I don't recall ever feeling a bed harder. There was a closet with all kinds of cleaning solutions in it. That just isn't a good look. I stopped investigating what was in it out of fear I'd find Ant/roach killer! The laundry room housing the washer/dryer had mold spores in it. That needs to be taken care of asap. The railing on the main balcony was loose and could come apart if a heavier person leans on it. The couch in the living room looks soiled. We spent less than 20mins on that couch the whole week we were there. We had to layer it with bed sheets to avoid looking at the condition of the couch. Some sort of cover, steam cleaning or replacement is in order. The A/C unit in the worked fine for the first 24hrs we were there and that was it. It was spotty at best and kept giving us an error message, E1. Coming from south Texas we're used to heat but man, when you want cool air you just want cool air! The unit kept going out and we'd have to turn it off and wait sometimes hours for it to work. The wifi was also spotty but hey, that's what we have unlimited data for! Another "con" was the "resort" itself. This is out of the condo owner's control. The resort was a ghost town. Not sure how many units were available but there were probably no more than 20 people there our entire visit. May being the rainy season could explain that. The famous Monkey Bar was closed, the pool looked abandoned and there was nothing I could see that the resort offered. If you book a room through the resort good luck, booking a privately owned condo here is the best way to go. Just don't expect any "resort amenities". In all, I give the condo 4/5 due to the location and the work the owners put into it. I wanted to give it 3 but they did make the bathrooms and kitchen feel modern. The biggest issues are some gaps in the walls, the linens, the couch, the chem room and the mold in the laundry area. They take care of those things and they could price this condo at a premium due to its location!
