I recently stayed at Las Espuelas in Liberia and have a mixed reaction. The pool is superb, huge and clean and ideal for swimming laps. There's a mango tree right next to the pool and many fresh dropped fruits. In the morning, the hotel puts out an excellent breakfast spread that includes traditional fare if desired. While the rooms are perfectly satisfactory and have functional air conditioning, the TV are wretched. I stayed in two different rooms and in both cases the picture was poor and the remote control non-functional. In general, the staff is a mixed bag, with some young guys being helpful and others just kind of willfully vague and unfriendly. That needs to change. The location is not good as it's a haul into Liberia proper. In summary, a hotel with vast potential that needs some upgrades. …
Thankfully I only stayed here one night as I was flying out the next day. It's a bit far from the airport but all I could find. It's an older, some what faded hotel that looks like it could use an upgrade. Rooms are beat up and so-so. Its ok for a one nighter but dont make it your holiday destination.
We stayed here for one night having arrived on a long flight from London via Houston. We picked up our car and 30 minutes later we were all checked into the Las Espuelas hotel. Simple rooms but clean and we enjoyed our first Costa Rica breakfast of rice and pinto beans with eggs. On finding our car had a flat tyre the staff were super helpful and we were soon on our way on our road trip.
Not much to say... a booked one month before for a family of four, drove three and a half hours to get there but when I arrived there were no rooms for four.... (!!!) They did not solve anything at all, showed a lazy behavior and they expected me to be totally relaxed. I asked for my money back and took off to look for other options. By the way, the hotel was totally empty so maybe they just wanted to relax... Although I stayed in this hotel some years ago and I had a good experience, I will never again book with them.
I recently stayed here for 3.5 weeks and enjoyed my stay. It was a home away from home for me and my partner. The place is well located and very quiet. The pool area and pool are well maintained. We ate in the restaurant a few times and were pleased with the meals. Breakfast is included and is of a high standard.
