Spacious lodges with pool, friendly & accommodating staff, good eats & beautiful view in beautiful area. I would recommend this to even non-Spanish speakers but the American presence is not overwhelming. Once in a lifetime experience and I would return any vacation in the future.
We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel was very peaceful with a great staff. We saw howler monkeys, sloths and toucans on the property. The concierge booked our rafting and zip line trips. Room was clean and had had a plunge pool with an amazing view.
Ended up putting this hotel room at five months ago for a family of five in their biggest sweet after reading numerous bad reviews we have tried to cancel but hotel didn’t let us. So we were not going to be out all the money. So it’s now 5 months later, we are trying to check in, reservation is still a go. And BAM no room for us. . Not only did I not get a refund they didn’t have a room for us. Would never recommend listen to the reviews
Terrible pillows and mattresses. Air conditioner could barely keep up and did nothing for the humidity in room. Wifi was good. Breakfast was fair but mostly cold by the time it was served. Could have used an omelette station.
We stayed in room 302 for 4 nights. Hotel has a great location with a Arenal volcano view from your room. Waking up in the morning to rainforest sounds is a delight. Room had a waterfall shower and a regular shower. Each and every staff we met was eager to help and had a smile on their face. Most staff speak limited English but we did not have any major difficulty communicating with them. Walk up to rooms may be a bit steep uphill but they have a free golfcart ride available to and from your room anytime. Breakfast was plenty and delicious. We ate at their restaurant multiple times for dinner and sometimes for lunch as well and food was good. Hotel is expensive and it is not right in La Fortuna downtown area, but if you have a rental car or willing to use taxi service this will be a great choice. This hotel does not have hot springs on property. We were happy to share our great experience with Hotel Manager on our way out.…
If you are not put off by an ill maintained property (even the light above the check in counter was hanging almost upside down and full of dead bugs), and are perhaps excited by a bizarro Disney like (but a little weird and scary, to us) waterfall shower in your room, this hotel, with truly gorgeous views of Arenal volcano, might be for you. We had been booked into this property for 5 nights by our travel agent . I don't think she'd ever been on the property. Checked in and IMMEDIATELY knew I could not stay. The bathroom itself with the enormous and scary rainforest shower was too much. I happily paid an ADDITIONAL amount for the night to transfer myself and daughter to a 2bdrm/2bath unit which had one "normal" shower (which had its own issues, but might have been livable). The unit was dark and scary. We slept in one bdrm together on one bed because the other bed had heaps of bug residue (termites?) under the pillow!!! Sleepless night. Immediately requested our travel agent get us out of there ASAP. Now we're at Lost Iguana Resort and VERY happy!! I will mention however that the manager (I think his name was spelled Imer) and the front desk staffer (Martin), along with the dining staff were terrific and helpful. They are the reason for the stars, along with the beautiful volcano view. …
This hotel is beautiful! The gardens are gorgeous. The little villas are very cute, however not in the best care. The shower doesn’t have very good water pressure and the mattress was hard and uncomfortable. It is very nice when traveling with your family. There is a lot of space. We booked the Arenal suite and it was perfect for my family of four. It’s very nice to have a heated private pool right outside your door. Breakfast Buffett was the exact same everyday. It’s not very exciting or very good. The staff were very kind and helpful. The hotel provides a cheap laundry service that was very helpful when going on adventures everyday. The hotel will charge you $25 if you loose your room key or towel key. That is kinda obnoxious. Overall I would recommend this hotel… mainly for the beautiful gardens and the very nice staff.…
Enjoyed our stay at Mountain Paradise. The casita was unique with all wood furniture. The bathroom was huge with waterfall shower and rain shower. Very relaxing sitting on porch in the rocking chairs. Natural beauty of property was awesome. Staff in Reception area and all over the property were courteous and pleasant. The gentleman who drove the golf cart a lot was great. Thanks to everyone who made our stay enjoyable and pleasant. Would definitely return and recommend.
The rooms are quite spacious and have fun showering options. The pool bar is manned by Luis, who should be paid 6 figures for his hospitality and attentiveness. Otherwise, this is not a recommended hotel - the kitchen is abysmal for the price, and the front desk staff is disorganized and frustrating to deal with. If you have a good plan for meals elsewhere, and want to be away from downtown La Fortuna, this would be fine, but if you are told this is an "all-inclusive" resort, go somewhere else.
Stayed 2 nights in this mountain resort near the Arenal volcano. Resort is spacious and tropical. We stayed in room 321 which was at the top of the hill and a steep walk from the pool, free breakfast area and reception area. The room was quite unique with a waterfall shower which we liked. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices and Luis at the bar was very friendly but the drinks way overpriced. Some cons were: limited wifi, much better if closer to the reception area, can hear your neighbors in the next room and the jacuzzi spa was not working. Limited massage times and again overpriced. Hotel charges $200 for couples massage and found the same massage for $135 in Fortuna. We took an Uber back and forth which ran 5,000 CR Colones about $9.00. Finally, when going back to the Arenal/Fortuna area will stay somewhere else.…
