We stayed at this hotel as the first stop in a multi-point tour holiday to Costa Rica, arranged by TUI. We arrived quite late on our first day and checking was very simple and quick. We were led to our room on the second floor to find it was very spacious and clean, with two double beds and a nice size bathroom. The only downside to our room was the fact that the safety deposit box was not working. During our two days here we went to reception numerous times about this issue, but it was not resolved during our two day stay, basement that we had to carry our money and passports around with us whilst exploring the area. Our stay included breakfast on both mornings. Whilst the selection was not huge, my wife and I certainly did not go hungry with fresh fruit and hot selection available. We ate dinner in the restaurant on our first night, it is a little on the expensive side but the service couldn't be faulted. A short (less than 5mins) walk will take you to numerous restaurants, though La Fortuna itself is a longer walk or a short taxi ride if you want a bigger choice. Aside from the annoyance of the safe-deposit box, we had a lovely stay. Though unfortunately didn't get a good view of the volcano due to cloud coverage…but that certainly isn't the hotels fault!…
Enjoyed a great stay with my wife at this hotel. Comfortable bed, beautiful gardens and delicious breakfast. Thanks to the front desk staff for their help with activities, would definitely go back. The view of the volcano is impressive in the morning.
I travelled with a family group of 14, with a three night stay at Magic Mountain. A nice breakfast buffet was included. The rooms were clean and large with a great view of the volcano, although stark with blank walls. The staff was not particularly helpful - saying "no" to a variety of simple requests (only one key card per room, no extra cot until we went to the manager, no way to charge a drink at the pool to the room, etc.). Upon arrival we were not given directions to our rooms - and ended up wandering the wrong buldings looking for our for our rooms.
A very average hotel with lovely grounds and spectacular view of the volcano. Great swimming pools and an easy to walk into town. Breakfast was adequate and some great restaurants are just next door.
The hotel is very nice. Clean and spacious. The front desk staff very polite and helpful. Even the maintenance and cleaning staff are terrific. We had a room with a view ! gorgeous - facing the mountain with the pool below. The dining area is very very good with many different foods to offer and a spacious area to eat. The staff are always well dressed and formal. A great place to stay. No complaints at all.
This hotel has rooms that look directly out onto the volcano. Sadly, there was heavy cloud when I stayed, but I imagine the view would be amazing otherwise. The rooms overlook the pool, which is very nice and also has two hot tubs and a bar you can swim to, serving great cocktails by a very friendly bar man. I initially thought reception staff were a little abrupt, but soon warmed to them and send my thanks to Daniella for her help when my excursion was delayed and her recommendation for a local eatery. The room was pretty spacious and had a hairdryer and fridge. The tap water is drinkable, so it was nice to fill up my bottle for the following days activities. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the fact you had to ring down to the restaurant to book a slot in the morning for breakfast. Naturally, they are busy, and I could never get an answer, so I used to book my preferred slot the evening before, which worked well. The hotel is in a good location with plenty of local places to eat, and you can walk to La Fortuna Waterfall in approx 45mins, though it's mostly uphill going and then you're faced with over 500 steps too. It is a lovely place to go for a dip, though, and plenty of wildlife to see on the way. …
A plain entrance but nice small shop. Our room was in building three, regular-sized with updated decor and a modern bathroom. It was pleasant to sit on the small balcony and look over the rainforest. Unfortunately the room was situated a distance from reception and the wifi strength was so poor that we had to leave the room to use it. The walls were thin and we could hear the neighbour's plumbing, tv, and snoring. A lovely fresh breakfast buffet was offered with multiple options. The pool area looked nice although we spent little time there.
Nice central location. Room was clean and had a balcony with a view, unfortunately there was fog the 3days I stayed so I didn’t get to actually experience my view (not the hotels fault obviously). 20minute downhill walk into the heart of town, I did not walk back up as I took Uber ($2-well worth it). Breakfast was good. The soda Rodriquez next door was fabulous. Overall nice experience.
We stayed here as part of our tour. We were a little dissappointed with the Hotel. The location is really good but the whole place is a little tired. The rooms and lighting within was very clinical and the bathroom had a nasty smell. The technician came up to fix it and he removed a lot of hair and gunk from the shower fitting which helped a little but not a lot. Also there was no hot water for the 2 nights that we were there BUT we alerted the manager on leaving and his response was if you had told me I could have had it on within 10 minutes. I feel this should have been on in any case. The manager would have been aware that as we were on excursions that we would be back 5 ish. Its unfair and unnacceptable to turn off the hot water in a hotel. We were 15 people staying in a specific row on the same floor. Breakfast was average…
We stayed here for a week. We had a lovely room with a deck to sit out on & enjoy the landscaping & couple fountain pools. Breakfast was included & it didn't disappoint. There was a nice main pool with a swim up bar 🍹. We had parking & good access to walk to other restaurants. I would highly recommend.
