Clean and spacious cabins with very good breakfast and lovely grounds. We were on a G Adventure tour and this was a favourite place. It is close to the town, has a nice pool and the owners are friendly and welcoming. We saw three sloths on the property and they were treated with respect and care as we watched from our breakfast area. There were many birds and the hot river is not far away!
The owner at this beautiful place is very friendly and accommodating, as are his amazing gardeners/landscapers. The gardens are immaculate, the views are great. This hotel is not right in the city, which we loved. The staff along with the owner provide a small breakfast menu, in a wonderful area which can double as a nice place to congregate to meet others or enjoy the people you are with. The pool is very clean and well kept. Included are their own walking trails, complete with sloths if you are lucky! I would definitely stay here on my next visit.
Amazing property with gardens and walking paths in the shadow of Arenal volcano. Saw many Sloths and Toucans as well as dozens of other birds who seemed to love it there too. Hummingbirds of all colors and sizes all through the gardens. The owner and staff were amazing and friendly . Would give it 10 star if I could.
We stayed here for two nights and would highly recommend. Staff were lovely, breakfast was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s possible to walk to restaurants etc, and very handy for all the sights in La Fortuna.
The hotel provided excellent customer service and was in a very beautiful location. Our rooms were like little secluded bungalows and very modern. We had a sloth in the trees right outside or our doors. The food was delicious and the staff always has a smile. There was a beautiful walking path on the property as well. Thank you Javier and staff for a wonderful visit. Unfortunately, there wasn't any sunsets in Samara for me to send to you. I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay here againg should I ever go back.
Good value, nice accommodations and hospitable people. Enjoyed the pool and the breakfast. It was a good location close to the volcano and other activities such as a rock jumping spot and hot springs.
The owners Javier and Yorle treated us like family. Javier went out of his way to help us with outings, selecting restaurants, and orientation to the highlights of the area. This was my second time at Hotel Faro Arenal. I was there in 2018 with a G Adventure tour group and came back in 2022 with my son, daughter, and her friends. We all felt welcomed and truly enjoyed the stay. Great park like grounds. We saw birds and felt like we had a private garden.
We were two couples staying in two cabins for two nights. The cabins were quite bare, with three beds, a desk, a bathroom and not much more. But that was all that we needed. The included breakfast was simple but tasty, as was the coffee. The grounds are lush and the walking trail provided lots of good bird sightings. Got some good photos of toucans, aracaris and hummingbirds among others. The place is quire peaceful and within easy driving distance to most area attractions.
The friendliest hotel. During 2 weeks travelling in Costa Rica my wife and I stayed in 7 different hotels. This was by far the friendliest. It is run by Javier and his family who live on site and are always available. Reception is run by Ivannia (every hotel should have an Ivannia)who speaks excellent English. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She assisted us with the choice of some excellent local trips, restaurants and even dealt with our hire car company when they came to collect to make sure we were not charged for any extras. The hotel is not 5 star but nor are the prices you are paying. The accommodation is in small chalets. The older ones are nearer the entrance set in beautiful gardens. The newer ones are very spacious and have there own small verandas but limited views. The breakfast is cooked to order and you will be surrounded by a large variety of birds all feeding on the bird tables nearby. There is a small swimming pool which is in a very attractive setting. There is no road noise as you are surrounded by fields and trees and yet you are 5 minutes drive from downtown La Fortuna. There really is no downside to staying here. …
The best thing with Hotel Faro Arenal was the garden area: lots of beautiful, lush vegetation and plenty of birds. We saw toucans, humming birds and lots more. Also there were some howler monkeys close by. Breakfast was tasty and the Tipico Costa Rican dish was our favorite. One of the reasons for 4/5 is the cottage itself. They were a bit old, and we had some problems with flushing the toilet. Also another couple who travelled with us had a similar problem with their cottage. Anyways, the staff quickly took care of the problem. The service overall was very friendly. Another reason for 4/5 is the seating on the patio. It wasn't very comfortable. Anyways it was a good experience and a special plus for the garden!
