The shuttle service was overwhelmed with large groups and we were unable to get the attention of the person coordinating the service. We ended up taking a taxi, which wasn’t to bad since the hotel is so close to the airport. Upon arrival, the check-in was easy and staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and breakfast was good.
This hotel completely saved the end of our 2 week trip in Costa Rica. When stepping onto the airport shuttle at 5am, my younger kiddo suddenly started throwing up. Food poisoning. She couldn't get on the early morning flight so after sending my husband and other daughter home, we returned to the hotel to figure out a plan. The hotel staff was AMAZING. They got us back into our original room that we'd checked out of, and let us stay there for the rest of the morning at no charge, including a second breakfast for me (no food for the kiddo of course). They spent endless time helping me call around to doctors and place orders at the pharmacy, never losing patience or becoming annoyed at how much time I required. After the right medication and a morning of quiet and comfortable rest in the very nice hotel room we were able to get on an afternoon flight and make it home that night. I have no doubt it wouldn't have been possible without the staff at Hampton Inn. THANK YOU!…
We had a late arrival and early start the following day and this was the perfect stopover. We booked this in advance bed and breakfast. It’s a short free shuttle from the airport. Reception quick easy checkin and friendly. Rooms large and comfortable nothing fancy but everything works and had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was basic but all ok and great coffee ! Shuttle back to the airport again free and super service.
We have stayed at the SJO Hampton many times over the years. It had been our favourite of the airport hotels. No surprises. It is still a solid choice. It’s very convenient if you are arriving or leaving. However, a few things are not as good as they used to be. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. The lighting in the room could be better. The airport shuttle works well. This time we landed at the Domestic Terminal and called and it was there in minutes to pick us up. Any staff we interacted with seemed pleasant. Check in went smoothly. We did not try the relatively new restaurant as we took an Uber to one of our favourite places in Alajuela. We used to enjoy the fact that complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available all day in the lobby. This feature is gone. The included breakfast though still very adequate is really not as good as it used to be. There is less choice and did not seem quite as tasty. The Hampton is still a good choice for a hotel right near the airport. …
This was above and beyond your typical chain hotel. We had dinner and cocktails (try the Tropical Daquiri!) in the restaurant and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The included breakfast was also above and beyond with healthy juice smoothies (green one day, beet the next), fresh papaya and watermelon, rice and beans, plantains, and rice pudding in addition to the usual eggs, sausage, cereal and yogurt. The hotel and restaurant staff were all very friendly and helpful. The shuttle ran continously which was great when one of us had to leave for the airport at 3:30am. There was a nice pool area and the rooms were clean and quiet with big soft pillows. We stayed here three different times over the course of our 2 weeks in Costa Rica and each time was consistently excellent.…
Really wonderful staff and so easy if you are flying in or out of San Jose. We ended up having dinner at the hotel and were very pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was and what a great list of cocktails they offered. Our room was very clean and quiet, even though the hotel was packed. Great breakfast. This hotel is an excellent deal for the price!
I was scammed by this hotel. They charged me for 2 nights I never stayed and claimed the computer had no record of the stay when I asked for an invoice. Avoid this property it’s not that nice and the people who work here are rude.
Airport shuttle runs continually 24 hours a day took only about five minutes. Hotel has a restaurant within walking distance of a Denny’s and a casino. Rooms and beds were fine. Took an Uber to town not really close enough to walk. Uber was about six bucks. Had to get that to go breakfast underwhelmed. Hotel work for us for a purpose
Hampton Inn never disappoints. Great customer service(Alejandro is awesome). Comfortable, clean room.(thanks Marta). Best beds. Best breakfast. Cheerful breakfast bar personnel! My favorite place to stay in San Jose. 5 minutes from the airport.
This is was a great one night stay for a morning flight. The shuttle service is excellent and runs 24 hours. All of the staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and the dinner was so good. I have a rating of 4 because the bed was a little uncomfortable.
