While stranded in Shanghai we have been staying in the Parkyard Hotel. Due to flight cancellation. The people here are great! The facility is very nice. The service is exceptional! They provide things before we know we need them. Like documentation for our visa extension and the proof for airline showing we have been out of Hubei for 2 plus weeks. They also quickly provided three specialty items upon our request, that they did not have to provide. And Hosting a family meal. Additionally they offered items that reduce the cost of our extended stay in Shanghai.
We have enjoyed the variety at the breakfast buffet. If someone does not understand our English or poor mandarin, Someone else is readily available to communicate with us. The mattress is like an American firm (Not board beds). A quiet area. Right next to line 2 Zhangjiang subway stop (line two connects with both airports closer to PVG) convenience stores. Western and Chinese restaurants and convenience stores are very close. Special thanks to Alan and Anderson.

I, together with other members of my team, stayed in the Parkyard Hotel for three weeks while doing a project in the area and the stay was perfect. The rooms are spacious and clean, and everyone, from the General Manager to the porters made us feel at home. Transport provisions were easily made and everything we needed was arranged with some easy wechat messaging.
A special mention for the in house restaurant Woodlands. Executive chef Filippo and his team provide an excellent service. The breakfast buffet has everything needed to start the day right. the a la carte menu provides a wide selection of very good western and Chinese options and on request the Chef created an amazing 6 course Italian diner which some of my guests described as "the best dining experience they ever had"
We will certainly book this hotel again when we come back to Shanghai.

I've been to Shanghai many times and always stayed in the central downtown Nanjing Road area. At the recommendation of a friend and after reading Tripadvisor reviews, I decided to try the Parkyard Hotel.
From the outset, let me say that this is a hotel geared to business/conference travellers, given its location in the Pudong business district. However, the subway station is only 10 minutes walk away - and 6 or so stations and about a 15 minute train ride away from the downtown/tourist area.
Also next door is a mall full of reasonably priced eating options - restaurants with all varieties of asian cuisine - and for the true gourmand, there's a KFC and a Pizza Hut! Hehehe!
The hotel itself is about two years old with a simple but warm decor - greys, browns and blacks. I had a Business Suite on the 4th Floor. The reasonable rate included breakfast and internet. The hotel is quiet. No noise from either outside or from adjoining rooms.
The suite is clean and well cared for. The sitting room is spacious, with a large screen plasma TV and a spacious desk. The TV has an internet connection and keyboard and there is also a DVD player. The sitting room also contains the standard bar fridge, room safe and tea/coffee making facilities. The bedroom contained a VERY comfortable king size bed and a smaller TV. The bathroom is spacious with a separate bath and shower (a MUST for me). Both bathtub and shower are of generous proportions. There is also plenty of cupboard and drawer space.
My only quibble with the room (and the hotel itself) was the lack of English-language TV channels (only CNN, HBO, Cinemax and ESPN) amongst the 40-channel selection menu.
The Internet at this hotel is a plus. The Wifi signal was excellent and I had no need of the wired option which was also available. The plus is that, not only was the internet free, it was brought in from satellite elsewhere and hence uncensored - all the no-no sites like Facebook and the like were freely available.
Breakfast is served in the main ground floor restaurant. I can't say that it's the best hotel breakfast I've experienced, but it was perfectly fine. Selections are good, the food is fresh and well presented and suits both the businessman needing an early breakfast before heading of, or someone who wants a late breakfast (until 10:30am) and who prefers to eat a later brunch.
Finally, the nicest thing about this hotel is the staff. Everyone was pleasant and attentive. I especially want to mention Justin (the Head Concierge) and his team for whom nothing was ever a problem. If you have any question about Shanghai, getting around, places to see and recommendations of where to eat, then Justin's your man!
Overall, if you're a business person looking for a great place in the Pudong area, this is a great hotel to stay at. If you're a tourist looking for a 5 star hotel at a 4 star price, and you don't mind hitting the subway to get around, this is also a great place.
I said this in another review that I wrote about a Shanghai hotel some time ago, but it's worth repeating here. The subway in Shanghai is perfectly safe, clean and punctual. Signs and announcements are in English also - so navigating your way around is no problem. And it's certainly worthwhile getting an accrued-value touch-and-go card. They only cost 20 Yuan and save you having to keep loose change about your person and the need to buy a ticket every time you use the subway.

We went to Shanghai to see friends and to see Shanghai. They recommended this hotel. We loved it. It is in the Tech Area of Shanghai. The breakfast is amazing - Chinese and Western food. The dinner buffet is fantastic. But also you can walk about a block to a Food Mall with Chinese food as well as Papa John's (not the same as the U.S.), KFC as well as Subway. Swimming pool, men's and women hot tubs and saunas. Fantastic service. Not far from the Financial district and the Bund. The best internet we found in China. Also 2 English speaking news channels if you miss home! A wonderful bamboo garden and fountain. We stayed there 7 days!

Myself and a colleague have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It is situated a little away from the main tourist areas but everything is accessible either by taxi (good value) which the hotel can arrange for you, or by a short walk to the metro station which is on line 2.
The metro stop is 1 or 2 stops to the International Exhbition Centre depending which entrance you want to go in.
There is a food mall next door to the hotel which has a good selection of restaurants (inexpensive) and a Starbucks.
The hotel and room itself was very clean and staff very attentive. English is always a slight issue but did not cause us any problems. The only issue we had was with the weak wifi signal, working from the room was difficult, althought the business centre was open most of the time. Breakfast was very good as was the dinner we ate in the hotel (I have an allergy to gluten and staff were able to assist me) - although the wine list is very expensive. The gym is small but very well equipped and the pool was excellent. The bar is a little small situated in the main lobby and drinks are made elsewhere and brought in. Not really a problem but a large bar would have been nice. On one night we asked the concierge to find us a Brazilian restuarant. After a little time they came up with a restaurant called Rico Rico which is a mix of Spanish and South American. If you are staying in Shanghai I would definitely recommend this, food was excellent.
All in all a very good business hotel and the next time we stay in Shanghai, we will definitely try to rebook here providing it is the same very good value.

Just stayed here 10 nights (3rd time here) - staff: exceptional, most speak very good English; accomodations very good; food great; selection very good. Walking distance to work, some taxis do not know about this place even with address and directions in Chinese. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! This is my "go to" place when visiting Shanghai!

30 mins from Pudong airport and 30 mins from the City and Bund areas (when there's no typhoon or rush hour traffic!). The big plus is availability of social media coverage as well as wifi. China has a number of restrictions in this area, but the Hotel seems to have obtained special dispensation to serve international Business. Good Hotel food, a decent coffee shop on the corner of the Hotel block and spacious rooms are the pluses. Slow service and a few language challenges brought the balance, but that's normal in this fascinating country.

The hotel is situated in Pudong right opposite a huge hi-tech park where I was on business.
The service is quite amazing - the staff are so gracious and kind and seem to be genuinely interested in your well being.
The rooms are modern, well kept and spacious. There is free wifi and DVD's for people who want to watch good movies.
The breakfast is great - so much to choose from and something for everyone, no matter what culture you come from.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it in a heartbeat!

We spent seven wonderful days at this modern and outstanding facility in the month of September. It was a very special trip to Shanghai, all the way from Panama, as part of our annual wedding anniversary celebration. Needless to say, that the staff, facilities and environment, at the Parkyard Hotel, provided the perfect blend to make it a wonderful, to be remembered, stay. The degree of care; the charismatic approach of all employees, always with a friendly smile and aiming to assist; coupled with the concern of the managerial staff towards all around satisfaction for its customers, made it all happen. Our special thanks to Mr. Anthony Chen, and his staff, for their professionalism and their concern for guests at all times. From the moment we arrived, we perceived this very special feeling of being someone important, and we were showered with very special room decorations, mementos, and all kinds of courtesies. The location of the hotel afforded us the opportunity to see Shanghai from the inside, and made it a perfect staging ground to visit all sites by metro. Standard rooms don't have bathtubs. There is a decent shower, not huge but with good water pressure.
