Hotel is ok. Sleep sofas need to be upgraded. Very cheap models and can feel springs and support bars. Immediate replacements needed. Breakfast area looked like a disaster area. Chairs stacked on tables and tables used to block access to room. Didn’t see any grab and go breakfast bags. Coffee was not set up for self service. Had to ask someone to get coffee. A/C unit was extremely noisy. Worst stay I’ve had in a Residence Inn.

We booked a suite for a Saturday. Earlier in the week, we called to see if there would be any chance we would be able to check-in early (as we were driving in from South Carolina, staying in GA overnight, and arriving in AL on Saturday). It was explained to us that early check-in is dependent on the number of guests from the night before, but that regardless our room would be ready by 3 pm. Cut to the Saturday, we arrive around 1:30 pm and ask if early check-in would be possible. We're told 'no', and that the earliest we would be able to check-in would be between 4 - 5 pm. We explain that per the confirmation email, as well as their website, and our earlier conversation, that check-in is 3 pm. Further, we've come to Huntsville for a wedding, and we need to be at the venue by 4:30, so checking-in at 4 - 5 pm is not an option for us. The front desk concierge finally admitted that "there are too many VIPs here this weekend, and she told them they could have late check-out." We again explained that 3 pm is check-in, and that given the time constraints to arrive on time for the wedding, that checking-in late to convenience someone else was not an option for us. The concierge did not care at all that essentially we were being charged for someone else to check-out late in the room we paid for. We wound up booking at another hotel so we would have a room to change in, and freshen up before leaving for the wedding. The next day, my husband sees that about ten minutes before we arrived at the Residence Inn to see about checking-in, that they had sent an email advising us they had given our room away to another guest. Further, instead of the two bedroom suite we had booked, they had changed our reservation (without our consent) to two separate rooms, but that one of the rooms would be comped. None of which was told to us when we were trying to check-in in the first place. We then assumed that as this location had already made so many missteps to begin with, that of course there would be billing issues despite the fact that we wound up not even staying here. We were charged twice for the two bedroom suite that was given to another guest, and for the two rooms that we never consented to being moved to (including the one that was supposed to be comped). Close to $800 in charges for a hotel we didn't stay at because they gave our room away, and refused to follow their own check-in policy. We emailed Marriot customer care, as well as flagged this with our bank in order to get the charges removed. You would think at any point during this clown show that someone at the Marriot would reach out and take responsibility and / or apologize for all of the ways this was mishandled, but no, you would be wrong. I cannot imagine anyone would have a good impression of the Marriot after this encounter.

We booked the largest room at the property, a two bedroom, two bathroom residential suite so that our family could spread out for one night as we returned from a winter trip to Florida. This hotel does not meet the typical standards that you come to expect from a Marriott affiliated property. At a Residence inn, no one os looking for luxury, but this property is absurd. Our room, which included a full kitchen and was supposed to include dishes, had three forks, three glasses (one of which was broken) and a few plates. Sticky counters, sticky floors and dust bunnies that had their own full sized family greeted up (thank god we actually had our own disinfecting wipes), clearly they've stepped up the cleaning here for COVID... Next we found furniture that needs to find the underside of a landfill (threadbare, covered in food stains, torns, etc. - see pictures). Finally, hard for a family of four to take a shower when the room has one towel. Multiple trips to the front desk clerk to ask for simple basics, which always necessitated (1) finding her, and (2) convincing her to stop talking with her friends on her cell phone and actually give me, you know a couple of glasses, towels, etc.

If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. First, we've been staying at Marriott properties for years and most of the time, they are very good. We stayed here during December 2020. It is a dump! The first room we were given had a broken bed (we had a horrible first night) and a broken shower rod. The next day, we moved to a different room. There were bugs in the "clean" dishes, ants in the sink and more bugs on the carpets. We told the front desk, they said they will tell someone to take care of it, but nothing was done in the matter. The shower itself was cracked, it looked like they try to fix it, but did a horrible job. The trash is laying outside the rooms in the hallways for a while, every day and it stinks. We were told the the room will be cleaned after 3 days/night, but it wasn't. We had to keep calling and asking for someone to clean the room. There is nobody at the front desk to greet you or check you in/out, etc. Breakfast is now a limited menu and you have to take it to go due to COVID (which is totally understandable) and someone suppose to serve you the food. Several mornings when we went to get some food, there was nobody there to serve the food so we ended up going out for breakfast during out entire stay. The kitchen lacked basics, such as no cookie sheet, etc... We're relocating to Huntsville and intended to stay at this hotel for 60 days, but we decided to stay elsewhere.

Room didn't have stove (as shown in photo of room when booking), only one towel and when I called to see about a coffee maker (there wasn't one in the room) I was told "hhhm, let me see if I can find one" They had opted to give housekeeping the Thanksgiving Holiday off which ended up with hallways filled with trash. Furniture was piled in lobby (COVID) but made it very unbecoming. Breakfast didn't exist. We were told "the truck didn't come in". The biggest issue was finding someone who did work there. No one was ever at the front desk. When I submitted my concerns to Residence I received a auto-response of "Sorry, we'll strive to do better". Very disappointing as a Gold Member.
