Let me begin by saying that the hotel is situated in the most weird part of the city. Since i don't belong to Chennai, all i can say is that i could see nothing around it other than small shops and some what of a slum.

Let's enter the hotel now, looks like a typical set up from a set of people who don't care about service or anything else. The fact that they own a property is merely enough. The room was quite small and congested. The floor mat was a towel which looked like it was used by at least 20 people before me. The loo didn't have the water turned on, i mean at least take care of that before you let a person check in.

The Air conditioning was quite efficient and the plus was the wi fi connectivity, nothing to complaint about on that front. Comforting sleep until 8 am and then the traffic starts to wake you up. (Psst...Cause its next to the main road)

Now towards breakfast, good looking south indian food was as cold as a fish. Total heart breaker!! Who could ever imagine eating cold idli and sambar colder than room temperature. Killed the entire experience...!

Oh! and don't forget to trip on the jazzy blue light in the lift...! It'll take you alllll the way...! All the best if you end up here...!

May the common gods of Tamil Nadu & Hospitality don't let you end up here, even if it may be because of your mis deeds ! :P

The hotel has to improve the service. For me the internet was not working, the TV channels has problems, the window door could not be bolted. The breakfast was normal for the price paid. location is good, central from any point.

Our stay in this basically average hotel was rather spoilt by being charged 1501 rupees for half a bottle of the worst wine that I have tasted in years. Subsequently in Port Blair I encountered the same wine (which I left severely alone!) at 965 rupees for a full bottle. We also got off to a bad start when arrived in the early hours, to find no booking registered, despite the fact that I had an email informing me that a booking had been made. The room was very noisy, opening onto a street market, with no double glazing. It contained no mini bar, no safe, no hotel information, and apparently no facilities for laundry. There were two hangers in a half-length wardrobe. The wet room was so arranged that, having had a shower, one had to wade to the loo. The restaurant is rudimentary, and the breakfast buffet cold. The English spoken by the staff is rudimentary. There were two electricity failures in five hours.

Hello friends after a long time I booked at Hotel Shelter-Mylapore. Front office team greeted me in very nice way. They follow all Protocols. Rooms are neat and clean. Breakfast is really good. I spent some time in indoor games as well as gym.
Only two kilometres to Marina beach and 300 meters to temples. People who travels chennai must try because of local culture and exploring gives happiness.will refer my friends and families.

Improved. Good for solo travellers. Safe place. Good food. Bar has some privacy. Really good for people travelling solo and for business. Located in center of chennai easily accessible. Planning to visit with family next time. Travelling from here to anyplace is less tiring.

It literally lives up to its name - Provides a Shelter, maybe from rain

My booking with the hotel is the only thing which went smoothly. Clearly, they are wide open given their poor quality.

The hotel infrastructure itself is not bad. But it is in a crowded part of Chennai, one way street and next to a noisy temple. The front desk staff, particularly a gentleman called Senthil are trained to be rude and unhelpful. You can ask them anything - the answer is first NO before they begin answering. The door man and security were helpful and friendly - saving grace.

The rooms are ok....but clearly some idiot has designed the whole place. If you stand in bathroom in front of the mirror, you will find the door pushing you out or getting in your way....there are many such irritating features designed to inconvenience the person staying.

The windows are flimsy; given that there is a noisy temple next door - you expect they will have better windows. The break fast is classy simple and zen. No Dosas ! (hello - are we in Chennai). When I was diaolguing about this with the waiter, in wafts in the the General Manager (a Lady). She pokes at the food and then asks the waiter - "Is this Pongal or Upma ?!!!" So clearly even she found it difficult to understand what is being served. Pathetic.

Most importantly, they cheated us. I paid an advance for two rooms (including one of our close friend who was a guest). Inspite of this, they charged him. We had booked a couple of rooms and they charged different rates to different people ! Although we checked in on the same day.

If there were Negative five stars, I would have given it. Stay away from this hotel.

I

We stayed in this hotel for one night, The staff was very polite in allowing us to check in early around 7:00 am even though I forgot to inform him. As we were traveling with kids the reception staff was very polite and friendly.
The breakfast was okay.
The rooms are little small for 2 adults and 2 children however i feel for the room tariff charged it was reasonable.
