The Taj Coromandel Chennai garners praise for its prime location and cleanliness, with travelers frequently mentioning the ease of access to local amenities and the impeccable maintenance of the property. While some guests have called out the rooms for their somewhat outdated decor, the spaciousness and comfort are well-appreciated.
The hotel's service stands out, with many travelers highlighting the staff's warmth and professionalism. Although opinions on value for money are mixed, with some finding the services overpriced, the lively atmosphere and comprehensive amenities often contribute to a memorable stay.

This was my 3rd visit since May '22 and I have seen the transformation of the hotel from a low of post covid resumption to a full house occupancy this time. In my first visit the charm was missing and this time it was bright and happening. The team was in full Taj glory of 'Service with a Smile'.
Mr. Maniknandan Guptan at the front office with his bright welcome smile is always willing to do that extra bit to ensure a super comfortable stay. I have known him from Taj Club House and he carries the same warmth. Would also like to mention about Mr. Vishal from the front office team for the same warm welcome and customer-centric attitude.
Chef Mr. Siddharth Pandey is absolutely passionate about making guests feel at home with his food. He curates a menu to your taste and tops it up with his kitchen stories.
This time I got a room on the renovated 7th floor and the experience was super. The earlier 2 times I got old rooms which certainly need maintenance and am sure Taj would do that soon!!
All in all a great hotel for business or leisure!!

Hospitality personified
Tajness, Wah Taj and above all, you are exceptional in every sense. Taj Coromandel is one of the most popular destinations for tourists and business people alike. Under the stewardship of Mr.Manu Sharma, the General Manager, all the Covid protocols are kept in letter and spirit. One of the most scintillating persons in this review is Mr Ravi, the bakery chef. His creativity is immersed in finding healthy, hygienic and quality alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The purist found ways to avoid unhealthy foods like maida and white sugar and find suitable options in millets, multigrain, whole wheat atta, and jaggery instead of sugar. To cater to the pure vegetarians, he makes cakes sans egg, dosas made of oats & multigrain and bakery items out of fibrous millets. You might think that I am exaggerating, and all I could say to those doubting Thomases should make a visit and find it out for themselves. Chefs under the able guidance of Mr Bhattacharya are marching forward to create a healthy and balanced diet for dining. Of all the dishes they have made, the variety of salads takes pride of place. Taj has all the amenities that all five-star hotels offer, such as spa, gym, steam bath, and massage, but the Covid restrictions swimming pool is not operational.
I believe once that wave subsides, the pool will also be made functional. If you care to make bookings, significant discounts are on offer, and if you happen to be a member of the Taj Inner Circle, there is an unlimited flow of offers. Taj is one of the most recognized addresses in hospitality, and you cannot miss its pampering in your itinerary. Of all the persons I have met in the Coromandel, Mr. Mishra, the F&B Manager & Mr Srivasan, Napoleon from IRD , stood out. Other persons worth mentioning are Mr Manikandan, from front office, Sekhar and Venkatesh from Spa, Shanawaj from the laundry, Jayakumar, Shivan and Asif Ali from housekeeping. However, the most unforgettable personality is Mr. Venkatesh, who works at the Spa whose guest care attitude is peerless. So explore a new voyage of Taj hospitality in this Covid era.

A typical Taj will less people to pamper you (thanks to Covid situation). It’s very hard to believe that there aren’t many people to check on you everyone you walk through the lobby in a Taj hotel. This situation is completely understandable. So it’s a simple luxury in current times but still a great place to stay and dine.
Having lived in Chennai for a long time before I moved out couple of years back, never stayed here though frequented the restaurants. Comfortable room, huge King cot, plush bedding and pillows, a sofa, a work desk, practical bathroom with bath tub, rain shower... and everything clean every single day. The house keeping even left some wire organisers to keep my table clutter free the first day after check in - Definitely a typical Taj service.
The gym was clean, shoes sanitised, temperature check done, treadmill sanitised after every single use; the helper was there to provide towels, water bottles
Breakfast spread was good like any other business hotel with some nice filler coffee and some South Indian snacks like Murukku thattai as well.. Yum.
Not writing anything in detail about Southern spice restaurant as it’s always a great place to dine. Had Kerala fish biriyani for a day there ... Fish was just awesome.
Curd rice room service came with a variety of papads and fries - which doubled up as a movie snack later.
Overall a great stay and I wish Covid situation improves to see a Taj that pampers you a lot with their outstanding guest services.

Shoddy customer service, and overpriced: true story not a rant.
I made trip advisor specifically to post this:
Went to anise for lunch buffet, taj is classed as a 5* deluxe property I believe. Unfortunately the only thing I can’t complain about is the water, filter Coffee and fresh orange juice.
Starters:
At the Live counter- ordered the lamb kebab and mushroom. When it Came it was not cooked properly in the middle, Mentioned to the supervisor and he asked the chef to have it cooked again, this time it was burnt on the outside and still uncooked on the inside.
Main course :
Went to live station and asked for chicken pasta with some pesto sauce. It is a shame that the chef does not know what Tagliatelle is, and gave me penne instead. I had asked for mozerella cheese and this had not come either.
I had also ordered for cheesy garlic bread, that conveniently got forgotten.
I pulled the manager to the side and showed him this. He was apologetic and made the two chefs come to me to see if they could help with the order, I told the kebab chef he needs to use a smaller flame on the stove, yet he didn’t want to listen and :
Attempt 2:
He brought the same burnt in the outside kebab. I didn’t have the heart to eat it.
Other chef made a nice special pasta, which happened to be with olives (I had asked for chicken and pesto) and once again used the wrong pasta- spaghetti instead of tagliatelle.
I sampled the various chicken biryanis and the chicken pieces were very firm and difficult to cut- w
Chicken in Hyderabad Biryani is meant to be the opposite.
Dessert:
I opted for a simple vanilla ice cream, and asked for some Nutella chocolate sauce on top.
I Was disappointed as it appeared that the Nutella was coming from the chef’s own salary in how little he actually covered the ice cream with! Pathetic attempt.
Final steps:
I once again spoke to the manager explained my concerns, very calmly and explained that my father too was Ex Taj and shoddy service like this brings shame on the Taj Group of Hotels.
I then asked him for the bill, and was expecting that if he had any shame there wouldn’t a bill, or it would at least be discounted. Then he sends Raymond as the fall guy, who is lovely and was not even involved in serving me during the lunch buffet to charge me the whole buffet price
I got up and saw the manager had conveniently left as I was about to pay. I didn’t cause a scene, paid in full and he reentered the Restraunt as I was leaving. He couldn’t even maintain eye contact with me. I shook my head as I walked past him.
Advice:
Don’t go to this restaurant for lunch if you are a hotel guest or visitor. Go out of the main entrance and turn right, Park Hotel is nearby.
What I would like as an outcome:
To recompense me, if Taj coromandel offered me a free lunch buffet after reading this, I wouldn’t bother with it. If it is for the breakfast buffet which I actually have pleasant memories of, I may consider. Also, can you impress with a suitable response?
Waste of money

Hi, if you are looking for proper south indian food, this is the best place to go! starting from the soup to the dessert every dish was authentic and super delicious.we had melagu rasam and it was super spicy and was so nice for throat.really I enjoyed the spicy kozhi melagu curry with appam this is outstanding a must try dish.it was so flavorful and the chicken was cooked to perfection. And finally for dessert I tried the elaneer Payasam and elaneer pudding, both were super tasty. The interiors are very traditional and aesthetictly done.with the warm lights and comfortable seating, you will have a definitely wonderful experience here.Their service was really great.special thanks to Ms.Ishwariya who made us,our day so pleasent. especially my parents feel at home. All the staffs patiently attended to all our needs and got out feedback on everything. The pricing was a bit higher side, but worth the quality and quantity provided.

Excellent service throughout my stay at Taj. Front desk and travel desk provided great service. Amazing food at Southern spice restaurant. Breakfast buffet at Anise was fabulous. Plenty of glass bottled water (sealed) was provided everyday in our room for drinking. We never felt sick eating the food and drinking water at Taj. Laundry service was great. Our room was cleaned to perfection every single day. The room on the 4th floor away from elevators was extremely quiet. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. We slept like a baby every single day after a long day of fun! Room service was spot on. Car rental services were fantastic and saved a lot of our time commuting within and outskirts of the city. We would like to specially thank Mr. Vinod (driver), Ms. Jasmine and her team (front desk), Mr. Kuppusamy and his team (breakfast and lunch buffet at Anise) for providing excellent service. Folks at Taj (front desk, travel desk, Anise, Southern spice, and in room service) would check on us every day to may sure we were comfortable, happy and made us feel at home with their food and service. Staying at Taj was truly a magical experience. I would highly recommend any one visiting Chennai to stay at Taj. It is worth every penny!

Chipstead or Chippy as most of us call it is our regular hangout spot in Chennai.
It is located in the beautiful Taj Coromandel and never fails to disappoint.
I have celebrated 4 years of Birthdays back to back. It is only because of the amazing service by the team at Chippy. The manager Mr.Tilak along with Amit and Prabhu are very courteous and their attention to detail in providing us with the best 5 Star Experience possible is impeccable.
Wednesday Nights are especially fun with Bollywood Music after 11:00 PM
The prices at Chipstead are definitely the most reasonable in comparison to prices everywhere else in the city.
Do not miss an opportunity to visit this legendary restobar with your friends and family

It was a luxurious stay for me at The Taj Coromandel. I was visiting Chennai for my visa appointment. This hotel is hands down the best location to be at for visa purposes. There is a photo studio at a walking distance if needed. The biometrics centre (VAC) is 800m away (walking distance). The consulate is also just 850m away. Since there is no mobile phone allowed at the consulate, it becomes difficult to schedule a cab or make online payments. Hence, I simply walked to the consulate from the hotel which made it very comfortable.
The rooms were beautiful and luxurious. I was upgraded to a Grand Luxury Room and it had space for a big bathroom (with shower and separate tub), sofa, side seating and a king-sized bed. The service was a class apart. I kept on receiving complimentary treats such as daily cookies, chocolate boxes, Indian sweets (laddoo), fresh fruits and more. They also sent over a beautifully handcrafted stone-worked elephant memento.
The housekeeping was top-notch. They once cleaned the room twice during the day and made sure that they were always available nearby for any requests. The restaurants are also of very high quality. The unlimited thali at the South Indian restaurant is much recommended. They also gave me 2 hours of leeway for a late checkout.
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at The Taj and I would surely come back to them for my next visit to Chennai.

The central location of the hotel is its strong point. However, I felt that the hotel was more of a business hotel than a luxury hotel as it is projected! We stayed in a Club Room on the 5th floor. I got the feeling that the room size was relatively small for the category booked. However, the bathroom size was the real shocker- it was really tiny! Otherwise the room decoration and housekeeping were satisfactory.
The breakfast spread was adequate though not the best I have seen in Taj hotels. However, some items like Bircher Muesli, Almond muffin etc were pretty good. The restaurant staff tried hard to please you but again the level of service was not at par with what I have enjoyed in other Taj hotels. We were on half board meal plan and could order our included meals from a separate menu. We felt that this menu was quite limited and it got difficult to choose items after a couple of meals. However, the manager and chef helped us out by allowing us to order items from outside this menu. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Pizza, Mutton Gulaoti Kabab and Grilled Salmon on the chef's suggestion- all were very good! The chef's recommended dessert Tiramisu was one of the best we had ever eaten!
Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in a central location close to the US Embassy.

We were in another highly rated hotel in Chennai three days prior and I think the first initial impression you get is “wow”! This is due to the driveway coming into the hotel with several people waiting at the door and then going into a massive loony with chandeliers and water gushing in the background.
Everyone is on their toes to greet you and I had complete trust in them. On several occasions we did some shopping and the a multi stop trip from the shops to the hotel, where I left the shopping with the front door staff to be taken to my room, and when I got back to the hotel, everything was delivered!
Breakfast was a very nice affair with lots of options from local to international choices with two “live” stations, dosa station in the restaurant and you could ask for pancakes and eggs and this is made in the kitchen.
The room was on the smaller side but the bathroom was fantastic with complete body shower and room servicing was particularly on point.
Well done!

"If your budget allows, I highly recommend booking a club room. The standard rooms are quite old and outdated in comparison."Read full review
