The dinner was good. The room was comfortable and neat. The free breakfast was good.
It is centrally located, near good shopping area and well connected by roads. Very easy to reach this place. Reasonable room rent.
On the whole it is worth the money as it is not high priced.
Good and efficient service.Very good connectivity to all centres / work places and being in Adyar gives a homely touch.Spacious and clean rooms.Has a good bar.
Breakfast menu can be improved upon.

We had no booking. We came simply to enquire whether or not a room was available, which is fair enough. Turns out there were rooms available. We did have other options such as Raj Palace etc. We were not hell bent on staying there. So, I dont know what the front desk guy's problem was. He was really abusive and insulted us because we let our cab go. If there was no space, we were clearly going to catch another cab and go. There was no needed for a lecture, abuse and insults. He seemed to have a problem with the fact that we all wanted separate rooms. Upon landing after a 11 hour flight, most people want to pay for a room, shower and go to sleep. Not argue. We reluctantly stayed for one night because we were severely jetlagged. Made a move to the Clarion Hotel the next morning.
Restaurant - service was really slow. Came here with interstate/international business clients in 2013 as well for dinner. The workers were more interested in watching cricket than giving us the naan we ordered. We waited for 1 hour. Literally. We accidentally ordered dessert (gulab jamun and ice cream), this took another 40 minutes or so. The clients were irritated and so was I.
I have one advice for this place. Greet every client with a big smile and respect. All the other issues will be sorted once you get that right.
I will never stay here again.
As my company office was nearby, they had suggested to stay at this hotel.
Once I got there, I noticed that service is so lousy that is the worst experience that I had been through (especially considering the fact that they charge about $100/night).
The hotel kept me in the lobby for three hours in order to check-in. There was no regard to the customer. Once I got in the room, it was very dirty.
Tried to order a food (and I was hungry especially since I had just flown in Chenna from overseas), they said the restaurant does not open till 7:00 PM IST. My only choice was to eat the food from a local vendor on the street or go to some other four or five stars hotel.
Breakfast was to be included free of charge. Tried to get a breakfast at 7:00 AM and was told that they won't be ready till 7:30 AM. Even after waiting 30 mins, they had almost no choices.
I stayed one night and forced myself to find some other hotel. And that was the best decision that I taken.

Very disappointed in the attitude of the front reception
The location of the hotel is also very good.
I have given 3 star rating. I would have given 4 or 5 stars if there was a better room service provided. The room service is extremely slow. It takes around half an hour to get a tea in your room... Sandwich that we ordered also took the same time and it was way too expensive. There was a big issue with running hot water in the bathroom. 3 out of 5 times we had to take shower with cold water as hot water wasn't coming from the tap and when asked for a hot water bucket in the room it came after 40-50 minutes...
So this good hotel needs to first get better and than hopefully best afterwards...
