The traditional Rajput architecture, a mixture of Mughal and Indian, a facade with domes and frescoes. The house is a very fine example of Shekhawati frescoes and architecture. The family portraits, which add to the charm of this family hotel where tradition still runs strong. Like many historic houses, Shahpura House is a curious mixture of the old and the new.

Shahpura House, often celebrated for its opulent heritage charm and prime location near Jaipur's attractions, offers travelers a mix of experiences. While the hotel's spacious rooms and rooftop amenities like the restaurant and pool are popular, some guests call out issues with room cleanliness and maintenance.
Service quality seems to vary, with reports of both attentiveness and unresponsiveness from the staff. Despite the allure of its vintage decor and reasonable prices, travelers warn of inconsistent service and potential hidden costs.

Detailed Reviews
Our initial impression was that this hotel is an 'Oberoi light'. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, the hotel itself very beautiful and the room was great. Loved the beds and shower.
The food in the downstairs restaurant was good (we didn't try the upstairs one as it was closed for a private function) and we LOVED the waiter serving us dinner. We only tried the Indian dishes and we were pleased with our selections.
Breakfast was great too on the first day.
The bar had a great selection of drinks and the cocktails were very nice!
Lovely pool too, albeit a bit cold this time of year :)
On the downside, the wifi can only be used on two devices per room, which left us with a bit of a problem as we wanted to log on with two phones and a laptop. It was also rather slow.
The bathroom door is frosted glass and whenever someone goes to the bathroom, the light comes on automatically and stays on for a while, which was slightly annoying at night.
There was a VERY noisy private function on the fifth floor on our second night there, leaving my husband sleepless until around 2am (there are no doors between the roof terrace and ground floor, and hence the noise was carried down the stairs to all floors.
And finally, and probably the thing that left us most disappointed, was that the breakfast buffet was COMPLETELY raided when we came down for breakfast at 8.20am on our second morning; no coffee, no hot water for tea, no milk, no cereal bowls etc and it took them a long time to get everything replenished (didn't happen during the 30 mins we were there)
Regardless, we would be happy to stay in this hotel again, assuming that the noisy function and breakfast buffet raids aren't an everyday occurrence.
It truly is a mini Oberoi on a good day...

Stayed here for a few nights in December 2019 and loved every bit of it. They upgraded our rooms which were really spacious and clean, the staff was very courteous, the local food they cooked was really delicious and I wish we had more days to spend there. There was nothing to complain about and I highly recommend this hotel.
I even left my book there in the room during check out and one employee (Mr Paresh) was helpful enough to courier it to my address in Bombay later. Thanks again!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
Nestled away in a rare quiet backwater in Jaipur is Shahpura House Hotel, which is I suppose a ‘boutique’ Hotel in a former home of a minor Jaipur royal. The interiors are redolent of a former era of grandeur. The rooms( I can only speak for mine) are beautifully decorated and maintained. The staff are all, without exception obligingly pleasant. There are two restaurants one on the ground floor which serves both Indian and European dishes, snacks at any time, and doubles as the breakfast room. On the top floor sits the classy Indian restaurant producing wonderful dishes at non astronomic prices. There is also a charming Imperial era bar, full of character.
There are some minor problems, the breakfast choice is somewhat limited and could be improved and the WiFi is almost the slowest I’ve ever encountered in a city, this might be a deal breaker for some! However we had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend it.

Our stay lacked the basic necessities any traveler requires, and the staff was only willing to do the bare minimum to acknowledge our needs after repeated and repeated requests. For example:
-Our shower door seal (between the door and the shower wall) fell off on us. Using the shower without this would cause water to leak throughout the bathroom. We asked the staff to fix it in the morning, returned in the evening, attempted to shower and had the seal fall on us again as it was not actually fixed in spite of our bringing the issue to their attention and giving them a full day to work on it and being reassured it was fixed. I had to bring down the physical piece for them to believe that there was an actual problem.
-We requested the laundry prices/slip twice, but were told to simply discuss this verbally with the laundry attendant who came to our door. We ultimately had questions about the prices we were charged, then were told by the housekeeping manager that we "never should have submitted laundry" if we did not have the laundry slip and that it was essentially our fault for submitting any laundry. We had been traveling for days without access to laundry and had 24 hrs to get our laundry done and requested this twice.
-Wifi did not work (we could not get even one device working) and we were given others' room numbers in order to try to access the wifi. This is a basic and essential need and completely unacceptable at these prices.
These issues do not include more basic things that we didn't even realize were fixable problems, such as our room not having any heat or additional blankets (we thought this was the nature of an older haveli).
At the end of our checkout process, we were only able to bring these issues to the attention of the manager after numerous requests (the front desk staff both night and day initially refused to contact him in spite of our issues). He then provided a discount of 50% of the laundry, which amounted to $16 US on a $700 or so bill.
Why stay at this Haveli when there are so many lovely ones?

Dear Guest, It is always disheartening for us to know that our guest leaves our Hotel not fully satisfied with the experience we offer. So many of the earlier reviews will show you that our team does its best to ensure that every guest has a great stay. Most unfortunately, this didn't happen with you & we do apologize for our having fallen short of your expectations. Nevertheless the management has already taken corrective measures and we request you to kindly give us chance once again to showcase our hospitality. We promise that we would leave no stone unturned to make your stay comfortable.

This was the worst mistake we made by staying at this place. We booked here at the recommendation of our friends and did our booking through Agoda.
We had to pre-pay for our 4 day stay prior to our arrival.
We arrived mid-day and spent the afternoon driving around town trying to get a feel of the city. We returned to our room at night to sleep and kept hearing loud thumping noises above our room.
We called the front desk who offered to send someone to check and fidnt send anyone. I called a second time and an employee showed up and insisted it was from a neighboring house. He stood in our room to listen for the noises we heard earlier.
Next day we came back to our room to rest in the afternoon, except now we heard loud bangs, drills and activity above our room.
I called the front desk and we were very matter of factly informed that there was construction being done and it will only stop at night. When I fussed about the noise they very magnanimously offered to move us to another room on the next day.
When I got upset and voiced my displeasure they finally sent an employee to our room. Who informed us to pack as we were being moved to another room.
He proceeded to move us to the second floor with an empty room which was fully made up and ready for guests.
The place itself is quaint and well preserved with welcoming staff. But I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone as the management isn’t reliable, considerate or honest.

This hotel is very grand in its decor.
We tried the sapphire restaurant twice and twice they got our order wrong (we asked for a pizza without pineapple...pizza came with pineapple) my husband asked for sandwich without salad (it came with salad)
We went to the Indian restaurant on the 5th floor, we ordered lamb and the lamb was raw.
Initially there were 2 waiters, shortly after our starters we were served our mains and there were 6 men all talking in hindi (my husband understands hindi) and they were laughing and joking about us, not happy as we were the only people in the restaurant. Disgusted with the level of service, I feel that this hotel is not accommodating to seeing indian and caucasian couples.
If the staff can improve their level of service then this could possibly push itself to a good hotel

I stayed with my family of 4 in this hotel for 5 days and had a wonderful stay.
Beginning with the location it is very well located in the center of Jaipur in a quite residential neighborhood, which makes all major attractions and markets well distanced as well as the calmness allows you to relax comfortably.
The decor of the hotel is really good and you feel like a royal when you roam around the hotel. The architecture is a mixture of Rajput and Mughal architecture and is similar to the one you can see across the city.
The hotel has two restaurants a Rooftop restaurant "RASA" which only serves dinner and an all-day restaurant that also serves breakfast on the ground floor.
The menu of the RASA restaurant is quite limited for vegetarians and only serves Indian dishes, though the veg food was excellent. We did not get a chance to eat at the ground floor restaurant as we were mostly busy visiting the various attractions around the city. But still based on the breakfast and a time when we went through their menu, it only serves continental and Chinese and has a larger variety available for vegetarians.
The rooms are clean and good and provided us with a great comfortable stay.
The Spa was closed since covid and so could not visit and review.
Overall the hotel is 4 out of 5 since the food could be improved in terms of variety and also the service is not on par with the hotels in this league. Also, the towels provided were not properly cleaned and had rust stains and so we only used the ones we brought with us. Also on one day after housekeeping cleaned our room, they forgot to lock our room, which is a security incident and I reported the same to the front desk.

This was by far the most traditional Indian style hotel we stayed at, whilst travelling. There was stunning ornate décor from the from entrance right through the hotel.
There are a lot of lovely rooms you can wait in as the hotel checks you in, and you get the traditional welcome drink.
The room was an adequate size with a double bed, wardrobe, and desk. There was a good size restroom, with standing shower, toilet with jet, and vanity. A few tiles were cracked, but it didn’t affect the use of the bathroom. We didn’t have the best view, so left the curtains closed.
This hotel provided you with toiletries for your stay- shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, shower cap, slippers etc (something to bear in mind to cut down on things you bring)
Â
There is a lovely restaurant on the roof, where you get very good views of Jaipur. I asked for a dish with very little spice, but sadly this was not the case, I had to send the food back, and the chef was not pleased. So I ended up eating some of my husbands food, and leaving mine. I was a little disappointed with this, but the rest of my group were very happy, so I think it was simply my taste buds that were too sensitive.
There was inside and outside seating, and a live band playing, which made the ambience very lovely.
Although I didn’t use these it is worth nothing there is an onsite SPA, and textile/ jewellery shop. A little out of my price range.

Shahpur house is an authentic recreated opulent Rajasthani palace/Haveli. It’s located in a run of the mill upper middle class residential colony without any outdoor space. Even The pool is tucked in a narrow alley between the hotel building and the street.
In a word it’s not professionally managed property but good enough if all you’re seeking is an experience of living in a recreated Rajasthani haveli.
We reserved a Shahi room ( the top rated residence) through Agoda and reconfirmed the reservation on telephone with Shahpura House a few hours later. On the day of check in we were told the reservation is not confirmed and we should be talking to Agoda. It took Agoda a few hours to sort the issue by absorbing a higher tariff than paid by us and reconfirming our booking with the same reservation number. The hotel checked us in a royal suite( 42m) not the Shahi suite (55m) indicated on our reservation slip. We did not have the stamina to engage the hotel or Agoda any further.
The pool facing first floor room was well furnished except for a musty smell. The sofa had a huge stain on it. The pillows & mattress were not top hotel quality. The air conditioning was not central- there were two aged split air conditioners. One of them broke down late night and it took 45 minutes to be repaired by when it was midnight. The toilet seat was continuously dripping and the toiletries very ordinary but attractively bottled. The washroom doesn’t have vents only a window which can only be sparingly opened for obvious reasons.
The room service was leisurely and the tea came from a stored flask. Exactly the stuff we found at breakfast next morning, both undrinkable. The breakfast itself was functional but the restraunt itself was at par with a dinning hall in a decent guest house.
Check in and check out were smooth but for the hiccups peculiar to our case. The receptionist had no change to accept our cash payment.
A very forgettable experience, fortunately we were only in transit. Full marks to Agoda not quite to Shahpura House. Unlikely to return to any of their properties across the country.

Shahpura House is a palace converted to a luxury hotel. The hotel rooms are fitted with all the modern fittings but at the same time, it has maintained it's royal cultural feel. The property is very clean and well maintained. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. Special mention to the restaurant staff and chefs. They cater to the dietary requirements and cook fresh food each time you order. The breakfast buffet has both types of cuisines - Indian and continental. The staff always ask you personally if you need anything apart from the buffet and they cook fresh and bring it to your table. They were highly considerate towards the old guests and make sure they serve them food on the table instead of guests going and get it from the buffet. They have a small Rajasthani clothing shop as well which gives you a cultural vibe. There is a small bar and pool table as well in the property. the garden area is also well maintained with the small swimming pool. Overall a memorable and comfortable experience. Highly recommend this hotel.
